The group made their way over to the nearby stream. The wolf’s carcass was still hung around Adrian’s shoulder as he followed them.
Its blood kept dripping on him, and honestly, he found it a bit disgusting, but it was nothing compared to the discomfort he felt between his legs.
Finally, after nearly half an hour of walking, the stream came into view. Adrian sighed and was about to put the wolf down when he thought better and walked further downstream.
He saw how the weeds and other plants had been cleared around the area and understood that it was their regular bathing spot. He couldn’t just let the wolf bleed out there, as it would pollute the water.
"Male, where?" Amika asked him for the first time.
It seemed now that his standing in the tribe had improved considerably, she wasn’t hesitant to be with him. Adrian just patted the wolf carcass and walked away.
He kept walking until the women were out of sight and earshot before dropping the corpse with a thud.
"Alright, let’s get to work."
Adrian rolled his stiff shoulders and got to work. Soon, a small pit was dug next to the stream for the water to flow into it. Once sufficient water was gathered in it, Adrian closed the inlet with mud and stones, creating a basin of sorts, and dumped the wolf carcass in it.
"Salvage!"
[Scavenging successful!]
[Skill Yield: Raw Wolf Meat (~18kg), 1x Wolf Carcass (leftovers), 1x Pelt (worn, patchy), 2x Alpha Beast Fang, 4x Worn Claw, Wolf Sinew (~0.3kg), Wolf Bone (~5kg) and Wolf Blood (~1.8 liters)]
[Ancestor’s 10x Blessing in effect. Gained Raw Wolf Meat (~180kg), 10x Wolf Carcass (leftover), 10x Pelt (worn, patchy), 20x Alpha Beast Fang, 40x Worn Claw, Wolf Sinew (~3kg), Wolf Bone (~50kg) and Wolf Blood (~18 liters).]
[Due to forced scavenging, item: Wolf Blood, is wasted.]
[Items can be stored in your inventory for preservation for up to 100 hours.]
As the notifications faded, Adrian noticed the pit was immediately filled with wolf blood. It was the only item he didn’t have a use for.
As for the rest of the items, he didn’t want to consume wolf meat now that he had chickens, but it could be used as bait or emergency ration. It was the same with the leftovers, they would be used as bait.
Pelt was important, so he just kept them aside. As for the claws and fangs, he kept those since he wanted to know if they could be used for crafting anything at the table.
Then came the sinew. It was perhaps the most important thing he got from the wolf. Even more important than the fur.
"Given the lack of equipment in the tribe, I could use it to make bowstrings and other stuff, while the chicken wings could be used to make the fins of arrows."
With that taken care of, he began slowly adding mud into the blood pit to cover it. After ensuring that the soil had absorbed the blood, he broke the stone barrier, letting the stream get rid of the smell over time.
All that hard labor calmed him down, and his skirt wasn’t lifted between his legs anymore. Yet, to ensure the women would have left after bathing to avoid any awkward encounters, he sat there and began looking at his unopened rewards.
"Oh, the reward for killing the wolf is here," Adrian nodded, clicking on the notification.

Not bad... not bad at all!
Any alpha beast would usually drop anywhere between two and four fangs. Hence, the power creep wouldn’t be too large. That’s why, despite its ’unique’ grade, it wasn’t a cheat.
But that changed in Adrian’s hands. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"After killing just one alpha beast, I already have 22 fangs!" Adrian exclaimed and couldn’t stop smiling as he went to check the card rewards he got from leveling up.
First was the [Uncommon Equipment Card] and the other was the [Uncommon Building Card]. He quickly used them both.
[You have received a new equipment card: Boots of Haste.]
[You have received a new structure card: Sturdy wooden fence.]
"Nice! Just the thing I wanted."
When the wolf appeared first, Adrian was worried about the unprotected house. But now, he could use the fence card at the crafting table to make fences.
As for the boots, they did exactly what they were called and boosted his speed by 10% and even had an active skill called [Sprint], which gave an additional 20% speed boost that decays over five seconds.
With all that taken care of, Adrian finally made his way upstream.
"They must have left by now, right—?"
"You’re back," Tribe Mother’s voice interrupted him.
Adrian looked up to see that all the women, including Sera, had been waiting for him. All the time he wasted downstream had been for nothing!
"Why are you still here?" he asked. "You should have cleaned up already..."
"A tribe eats and washes together," Amiya replied as if it were the most obvious thing to say.
The Tribe Mother nodded in agreement before looking at Adrian.
"You are a part of our tribe. One of us."
As soon as she said that, everyone nodded along. They had never thought they would accept a male in their tribe, but Adrian had changed their minds, and they wanted him to know that.
After saying her piece, the Tribe Mother turned to the women.
"Strip," she said and began undoing her fur skirt.
