Adrian stared at the Ashened Pike in his hands. If not for the restriction and the weapon type, he would have most likely kept the weapon for himself.
Given his extraordinary strength, the axe suited him the most. Not a pike that required both strength and agility to move. Adrian stood up and walked over to her, holding the spear out with both hands.
"Mika," he called out.
She turned toward him, and for a moment, her stoic expression turned into shyness when she saw him. It only lasted for a second before she returned to normal and walked to him.
"What is it, male?" she asked, refusing to look him in the eyes.
Whenever she did, she would remember the embarrassing claims she made last night. She had been overflowing with confidence back then, but now, in the light of day, she felt strangely shy standing before him.
"This is for you," he said, holding out the spear to her. "Like I promised, a better weapon for you."
Mika’s eyes widened as Adrian shoved the pike into her hands. Mika didn’t act like she didn’t want it and immediately checked its weight and balance with a quick swing.
"Thank you, Male. I will use it well..." she said with a smile.
Then the two stood there in silence, staring at one another. Amika saw it, and even though the sister had entertained Adrian together, she didn’t like the way the two were looking at one another without her.
"Male," she said, pointing at Mika. "You gave Mika such a wonderful weapon, but you didn’t give me anything till now!"
Adrian turned to her and smiled.
"How can you say that?" he asked, acting hurt before stepping closer and caressing her stomach. "I already gave the most precious thing to me. You call this nothing?"
Adrian did not have to mention it out loud. His actions did all the talking for him. As he did, Amika’s pout changed into a smile.
Then, without hesitation, she grabbed the back of his neck and kissed him on the lips right there in front of everyone. Adrian was taken aback by her public display of affection, and he wasn’t the only one.
Seraphine and Hannah both looked away awkwardly, the latter blushing furiously while the former giggled behind her hand. As for the others, they just looked at the loving couple in confusion.
After all, they had no idea why the two were pressing their mouths together. Amika opened her eyes to look at the confused women and felt happy.
Only she among them knew what a kiss was. And that thought made her happy. Then again, she didn’t want to deprive others of the knowledge and abruptly stepped back from the kiss.
"It is called a kiss," she explained to the others. "It is a gesture of deep affection between two mates. The Male taught me this. He also told only mates should do this with each other."
She emphasized the word "mates" clearly, making sure the others understood the boundary. They could see them kiss, but they weren’t allowed to do the same with Adrian.
"Alright, enough dawdling around," Adrian cleared his throat. "Let’s clean up and get to work, everyone. Come on."
As the girls squatted next to the pond to clean their teeth and bodies, Adrian remembered something Nysa had told him last night about the blue slimes.
"Um, Nysa, can I ask you something?" he asked, approaching the mother of slimes.
"Of course, benefactor."
"...just call me Adrian or male like others."
"Okay, Adrian. What do you want to ask of me?"
Adrian looked around as if ensuring no one could hear him before leaning in towards Nysa’s ear, or at least what he thought to be her ears.
"Can your blue slimes eat any impurity? Even... bodily discharges?"
Nysa looked at Adrian for a moment, then nodded.
"If you mean your poop, then yes," she commented, not weirded out by it at the slightest.
Only then did he remember that Nysa knew the language and had the knowledge of humans as well. He didn’t need to talk in code words with her. Still, it felt awkward talking about poop to such a beautiful creature of the other gender.
"Ahem... Right, that’s what I was referring to..." Adrian cleared his throat, ensuring no one heard them.
The thing was, the longhouse did not have a washroom. Just some rooms and a workbench. If anyone had to answer nature’s call, they had to do it in the forest, and after that, they had to use leaves to clean up and bury their excrement.
The tribeswomen didn’t mind it since it was the only way of dealing with things they knew of. However, it was different for Adrian and the players.
Now that Hannah was there too, he wanted to fix the problem. Hence, he asked for help from Nysa. To her, it wasn’t anything shameful. After all, it was a natural process for humans. So she offered the most optimal solution.
"A pit of slimes... makes sense," Adrian mumbled, scratching his chin after listening to her plan.
The plan was to dig a pit with a slide in front. Whenever someone wanted to relieve themselves, they had to take a blue slime or two from the pond and put them in the pit to do their business.
Once they were done, they could clean up and leave. After the slime was done cleaning up, it would crawl out of the pit with the slanted side, and that’s it.
It was a simple but effective method. As for cleaning their cheeks... they would still have to use leaves. But Nysa had a solution for that as well.
Since the slimes ate everything, they were knowledgeable in botany. They knew which leaves would feel good to the skin and which would not.
So, she proposed to let some slimes go and collect those leaves for them and put them near the pit for easier access.
Adrian agreed to the plan, but had a small suggestion.
"Instead of collecting leaves daily, let the slimes guide one of us to the plant, and we can just bring the entire thing back. We’ll plant them near the pit, which would solve the issue of prompt access."
Nysa didn’t have any issues with the suggestion and shrugged.
With a plan in mind, Adrian opened his inventory to grab a shovel, only to see the chest in it. He wasn’t worried about the chest, but about what it made him remember.
"Shit... the boar meat!" he exclaimed, rushing towards the smokehouse.
He had dumped all the fresh boar loot in the smokehouse last night without properly hanging it. If it spoiled, they would lose a massive amount of food.
Entering the smokehouse, he looked for the meat on the ground, but only found the pelt and bones neatly arranged on the side. There was no sign of the meat.
"Where could it—?"
He wanted to say something, but then something warm touched the back of his neck. Above him, all the boar meat had been carefully sliced into thin, even strips and neatly hung on top of the racks.
"Who did this...?"
As he said that, the door was opened again, and Rixxa stepped inside behind him, holding a stone knife.
