Like the rest of the tribeswomen, the so-called ’mother’ was tall, around two and a half meters, and had a distinct feature: purple hair. Perhaps it was this distinction that made her the leader among the other four women.
Not gonna lie, this tribe doesn’t even qualify as one.
Just five women, one of whom was injured. Even though Adrian was unaware of the dangers of Savage Earth, he knew their situation was dire. Maybe that was why they ’kidnapped’ him and that girl, Sera, to increase their numbers.
While he was lost in his thought, the Tribe Mother looked at him carefully and, after seeing his proud warrior, she nodded approvingly.
After all, in a primitive world like theirs, only a few things mattered for a man to be exceptional.
First, his skills to provide for the women, and second, his little soldier.
Tribe Mother found Adrian acceptable in the latter department. Now only the first point remained.
However, she couldn’t just tell him to go hunt for them, as they had no connection whatsoever. She needed him to join their tribe first.
"Amiya has told us tales of your valor," the mother said. "Our tribe needs a man of your talents. However, as you might have noticed, not everyone here is pleased with your presence."
As she said that, she looked at the two women standing farthest. One of them was the injured woman with a strange paste covering her wounds.
The woman next to her, with the same face as the one before, applied more of the said paste on the wounds.
Other than the two of them, there was another woman who looked more mature than all of them. She also had curly hair, unlike the rest of them. However, she seemed neutral to his presence.
Then there was Amiya. Perhaps the youngest one in the tribe.
Other than her bombastic figure, Adrian didn’t think she had any talents. Yet she had brought him there and triggered Adrian’s talent. For that, he already had a small soft spot for her.
Lastly, the Tribe Mother. She was the decision maker of the small tribe. In other words, she would decide what they’d do with Adrian... at least, that’s what seemed to be the case.
More importantly, all of them had triggered his ’blessing’. If possible, he would like to stay around them as he wanted to know what the so-called bountiful rewards that his ancestors spoke of were.
"You have killed wanderers, for that we are grateful, but you have also made an enemy of them," Tribe Mother said, pointing at the injured woman. "They are a ruthless bunch. Mika can attest to that."
She continued. "A wanderer wanted to claim her unjustly, so she chopped his head off, only for more wanderers to attack her. Mika is an exceptionally gifted warrior, but failed to subdue them all and had to escape."
The Tribe Mother then pointed at Adrian. Although she didn’t say anything, he knew what she meant.
Mika killed one player and got reduced to such a state. Adrian had killed three, so his punishment would be more ruthless. She was trying to join them, hinting that their numbers could scare the players off.
"Now, you must make a choice. Take that woman and leave. Never to meet us again," Tribe Mother said, getting to the point. "Or, you can join our tribe. If you join us, we will provide you with a partner, and you will get the first pick of spoils from any hunts—"
"Tribe Mother, you can’t—ugh!" Mika groaned in pain, trying to protest, only to strain her injured body. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Tribe Mother sighed before turning towards Adrian.
"What is your choice, great warrior?"
"Thank you for bringing me here," Adrian said, hoping they would understand him, and judging by their expressions, they did. "I would like to join your tribe, but first, I want to know what you’re planning to do with her?"
Adrian pointed at Sera in the distance, and all colors were drained from her face. She remembered how ruthlessly he had killed the boys and hoped he wouldn’t remember about her.
"We hoped to turn her into a slave," Tribe Mother replied. "Make her act as a deterrent from the Wanderers attacking us."
Adrian smiled at their foolishness. Just because they captured Sera, they thought she couldn’t tell the players about them.
Then again, he couldn’t blame them. If he weren’t recognized as a player, he wouldn’t know about the chat tab either.
"I will join the tribe, but I also have one condition," he nodded. "That woman would be my slave, not the tribe’s."
Adrian’s blatant declaration surprised all the women there. Mika couldn’t take it anymore and shot to her feet. Ignoring the burning pain in her body, she staggered towards Adrian, raising a fist, ready to hit him.
Adrian saw her, but didn’t even bother moving. The woman could barely walk. How hard could she possibly hit him?
"Enough!" Tribe Mother yelled, pointing a finger at Mika. "Stand down now! I won’t permit any infighting in the tribe."
Mika immediately lowered her arm. There was no point in fighting anymore. Not after the mother had recognized the man as a member.
Just then, a screen flashed before Adrian.
[Congratulations on joining a tribe!]
