That question was directed to me, and yet his eyes were glued to the screen before him, refusing to look at me or even call my name.

He gave a grunt and continued on, asking the heads of the Legal and Marketing department for their contributions.

My heels dug into the carpet under the table.

Denying or affirming it would only give her something to be all proud about. What I did outside this building was my fucking business. Besides, it had to have been past two in the morning or something like that when she supposedly saw me.

"Yes sir," We chorused as the meeting wrapped up. Chairs scraped the floor as they were pushed back and people filed toward the door.

"I swear I thought I would piss my pants," Marcus muttered on his way past me earning a snort from me. He gave a little wave before disappearing out the door along with everyone else.

The room was empty. Finnegan stood at the head of the table, his laptop closed in front of him, sleeves pushed to his forearms.

I strutted over to pick up the laptop when his words had me pausing. "What happened in my office was unprofessional. I didn’t mean to take advantage of you, It won’t happen again."

"It will NEVER happen again." He snapped, green eyes finally fixing on me. "Am I clear?"

"Crystal," I muttered, picking up the laptop and giving him a smile, I zipped at my lips pretending to throw the key away. "Better?"

"I am being serious. This isn’t funny,"

My smile died a ugly death. Then it completely disappeared when he continued talking.

"From today, five o’clock you’re off the clock. If I need anything beyond that, I’ll reach you via calls and emails. There’ll be exceptions around the launch but that’s the rule going forward."
