"Hold on. I think our Finn has been swapped with someone else." Henry’s words had my head whipping up from the phone. I tapped the power button to quickly turn the screen off, hiding the selfie Abigail had sent me. I was at the bar with him, Eric, and Arthur.

"What?"

"Did you see a meme?" Eric asked from the other side of the table, where he sat beside his father, an easy grin playing on his lips.

"Did I see a what?" Had I missed some part of the conversation? Dammit, I had gotten carried away chatting with Abigail.

Hilarious, wasn’t it? I didn’t chat. I never had time to, and who was I going to chat with anyway?

If I needed to catch up with my friends, I called them or met up with them at the bar like this, when I could.

But with Abigail, well, I didn’t fucking function well when it came to her. I had no idea when we started chatting.

"Too late," Henry cried, pointing at me. "I saw it. Arthur saw it. Eric saw it. Right? It’s in the historical record now."

"You definitely were," Eric said cheerfully, wiggling his brows at me. Ah shit, he was hanging out with Henry too much.

"Only one thing makes a man smile like that without realizing it," Arthur declared, holding his glass up in the air, his eyes crinkling with mirth. "And it isn’t a meme."

"Who is she?" Henry asked even when he knew damn well who it was.

The asshole just wanted to bait me for his amusement. He wouldn’t let me live it down that I had been so blind, I didn’t know my assistant was Aphrodite.

"Nobody," I grunted while Arthur leaned forward.

"The smile says otherwise."

I reached for my whiskey and said nothing.

The truth was I hadn’t known I was smiling. That was so fucking strange. Abigail sent me a selfie of her at the theatre with her friends.

One of them had a palm over her face, shoving her while they both laughed hysterically at the camera.

It was odd that I knew exactly how she must have laughed. Her head thrown back, beautiful blue eyes crinkling with joy.

I wanted to see her.

I ached to see her. If she wanted to watch films, she could watch them from my couch, from my side, my hands running through her silky dark tresses as she rambled on and on about the movie. She would be all dolled up in my shirt-

I shut the thought down firmly.

Bloody hell, I had more pressing matters to think about. Angel was coming home soon for the break and Victoria was too eerily silent. My men had reported that she wasn’t seen at Mother’s or at her villa in Manhattan.

She was up to no good. Matt had returned from his trip and since I already found my Red, I had placed him on Victoria’s trail. It was odd that she would disappear at a time like this.

After all, her and my mother’s favorite day of the year was drawing closer.

Yeah, my life was complicated in ways that Abigail didn’t know yet. I didn’t want all this blowing back in my face.

"I’m throwing a small party at the house next month," Arthur said at some point, tankfully directing the attention away from me.

"Nothing formal. You’re all expected."

"Obviously," Henry chuckled.

"I should invite Abigail," Eric muttered, whipping out his phone. "I haven’t seen her since the car launch party, she’s always busy."

My grip tightened around the glass of whiskey. He better be referring to another Abigail. Jealousy wrapped around my heart like bands of lead, refusing to let go.

"You’re texting her now?" Henry asked Eric but his eyes were fixed on me, a knowing smile wide as a Cheshire Cat sat on his face.

"Why wait?" Eric shrugged, crossing his fingers. "I hope she says she’s coming. Can you please stop putting so much work on her, Finn? For my sake at least."

My shoes hit the ground in rapid, impatient taps, irritation curling at the base of my spine.

For his sake?

Henry looked like he was going to pass out from laughing, with how red his face was.

His face split into a grin. "She said, yes." He turned the phone to show Arthur. "And she put a heart. She’s definitely into me, Dad."

Yeah, and I’m the fucking president.

Thinking a woman liked him because of a heart emoji was exactly the kind of thing that reminded me that Eric was a kid next to the rest of us.

I turned on my phone under the table, my eyes scanning the texts from Abigail. It didn’t have a heart emoji. Another surge of jealousy filled my veins. She had never sent me a heart emoji.

Christ, I was grown-ass man, I could not be irritated over something as ridiculous as an emoji, dammit.

Who cared what she sent Eric Lewis?

"Hi honey," Victoria drawled, standing on her toes to place a kiss on my cheek. I leaned back, narrowing my eyes into slits.

"What are you doing here?"

"Oh come on, pretending to be happy to see me won’t cost you anything," She scoffed. Her head cocked to the side and she leaned in taking a sniff of me.

Victoria’s eyes slowly lifted to meet mine. "And why, dear Finnegan, do you reek of a woman’s perfume?"
