Drake had a death wish. That was the only explanation for why the half with clot pole was standing next to my desk, smiling widely at me like he won the fucking lottery.

"Abby, baby." The smile on his face used to make my stomach flip. Now they just made my fingers itch to claw at his face. I hadn’t seen him in a few weeks but the rage of what he did seemed to slam back in my chest in full force.

"This floor is strictly restricted to authorized staff," I bit out, clenching my teeth at the headache hitting the back of my head.

"I’ve been trying to reach you for months, Abby. I even had to reach out to your grandmother and look-" He fished his phone out of his pocket and shoved it in my face.

I squinted to read the message Meemaw sent him. The timestamp read 8:05am. It had been barely five minutes after our conversation.

Alicia made a sound between a laugh and a cough that she quickly faked a smile when Drake and I looked at her.

"Is something funny, bitch? Did you choke on all that nastiness flowing in your lungs?"

She frowned, curling her lips in disgust. "Stop being so high and mighty, it’s not like you’re any different."

"Oh please, I don’t go around sleeping with other people’s boyfriends on Valentine’s day," I snapped then turned to Drake.

Drake winced, his eyes closing briefly. "I didn’t mean that-"

The deep, dark voice came from behind us and every nerve in my body fired simultaneously.

Finnegan stood close to the elevator, his black suit molding his powerful figure. His green eyes moved across the scene, from Alicia to Drake standing too close to me.

Alicia was on her feet quickly, batting those fake lashes while smiling innocently at him.

"Boss, good morning. I hope you had a lovely weekend-"

"I have no intention of hearing your hopes, Miss Duke. What the fuck is going on, on my floor?"

"I’m so sorry about this. I came up to discuss the press release timeline with Mr Winslow and Miss Kellerman. I’m afraid things got a little...I tried to manage the situation but-" She gestured vaguely at me and I scoffed in disgust.

"Really, that’s the best you could come up with?"

Finn’s eyes snapped to me, narrowing in anger. They moved up from my face up to my hair and was it just me or did his eyes widen in surprise?

Had he really thought it was me last night? His face was morphed in a puzzled look as if he hadn’t expected to see my hair as black.

So fucking thankful I used temporary dye.

"Miss Kellerman, I need you in my office when you’re done entertaining ruckus in my lobby."

And with that cold order, so cold, Antarctica was jealous, he strutted past us into his office and slammed the door shut with a resounding slam.

"This isn’t over," Drake hissed, giving me one last final glare before storming towards the elevator.

Alicia beamed at me as she made to follow after him lazily. I could swear she only brought Drake because she enjoyed the fucking chaos. "That was very interesting,"

I held up a middle finger at her, relished the shock on her face then turned to my Boss’ office. Shit, he was looking right at me through the glass. I dropped my finger immediately, smoothening my dress awkwardly.

"Do you have a twin, or a sister perhaps?"

"If you haven’t gotten the fucking memo, Alicia, get the hell off my floor!" I growled, glaring at her over my shoulder.

"No okay, hear me out," she held a hand out. "I could have sworn, I saw someone early this morning, coming out of a club and I swear to God, they looked like you," She gave a dramatic gasp, a small smile curling her lower lip.
