Sierra Sullivan was still trying to figure out what was happening when another voice sounded from outside.

"Cousin."

Even though it had been a long time since she’d last heard it, Sierra Sullivan recognized the voice instantly.

’It’s Autumn Lynch!’

"Cousin, why won’t you open the door? Is it because you have a guilty conscience?"

Autumn Lynch’s voice was filled with endless grievance, even trembling on the verge of tears.

A smile played on Sierra Sullivan’s lips. "I’ve been here the whole time. How could I have caused the death of Autumn Lynch’s parents?"

"Didn’t you trick Autumn’s family into going to the villa? You moved all the food and water out, then tricked them into starving for a whole day. When night came, you ran off by yourself and left them there. The sandstorm hit suddenly. They had nothing to eat or drink, and Autumn’s parents died because of it. How can you say you didn’t cause their deaths?" Hugo Cheney demanded loudly.

Sierra Sullivan looked completely innocent. "But that day was the anniversary of my parents’ death. I told them I was fasting. I didn’t seek them out; they came to the villa looking for me. When evening came, I figured the day was almost over and they were hungry, so I drove out to buy some food. Who could have expected the sandstorm to hit before I was done shopping? I was closer to this place at the time, so I had no choice but to come here. Is there a problem with that?"

Hearing Sierra Sullivan’s explanation, Hugo Cheney was clearly surprised. "Autumn, is that what happened?"

Autumn Lynch’s fists clenched, and she cursed inwardly, ’This idiot!’

’Sierra Sullivan just gave a brief explanation, and he actually believed her!’

But there is one thing I’m curious about. With no food or water, my aunt and uncle died. So how did you survive? And how did you run into him? What did you tell him about me? Why did you say I killed my aunt and uncle? I didn’t do a thing!"

Autumn Lynch dug her nails viciously into her palm as tears streamed down her face.

"Cousin... I’m not blaming you. It’s just that it was all too much of a coincidence... Cousin, I don’t have parents anymore either. From now on, it’s just us two sisters in this world!"

As Autumn Lynch spoke, she walked toward Sierra Sullivan, opening her arms for an embrace.

Sierra Sullivan immediately sidestepped her. "I wouldn’t dare hug you. Just a moment ago, you were saying I killed your parents. And you still haven’t answered my question. Your parents died, so how did you survive? What did you eat? What did you drink? How did you meet Hugo Cheney?"

Autumn Lynch turned her face away, her beautiful features streaked with tears, but she refused to say a single word.

The sight broke Hugo Cheney’s heart. He immediately stepped in front of Autumn Lynch. "The search and rescue team found Autumn in the villa district and brought her back. Is there a problem with that? When she was rescued, she was on the verge of starving to death. As her cousin, it’s bad enough you don’t feel sorry for her, but to keep pressing her like this? What are your intentions?"

"Aren’t I just showing concern for her?" Sierra Sullivan retorted. "I’m just curious what she ate and drank to hold on until the rescue team arrived. I just hope she didn’t eat anything... unclean!"

As Sierra Sullivan said this, her eyes were fixed on Autumn Lynch.

Jayce scoffed.

"Who doesn’t have a Water Ability these days?"

Hugo Cheney was instantly speechless.

’He’d actually forgotten that Jayce also had a Water Ability!’

’And a very powerful one at that!’

Jayce pulled Sierra Sullivan into his arms. "Sierra is going to live with me. No one else is getting near!"

Autumn Lynch stared at Jayce in surprise, her gaze shifting to the hand he had wrapped around Sierra Sullivan’s waist. She looked like she wanted to say something but held back.

"Cousin... didn’t you used to say you hated how arrogant Jayce was? Why now... Are you only with him because he has a Water Ability?

Cousin! You really don’t have to lower yourself like this! I have a Water Ability too. I might not be as strong as him, but I’ll work hard! You really don’t have to give yourself to him just for that!"
