The expressions on Sierra and the others turned incredibly solemn as they gazed at the Aberrant Beasts.

Jayce immediately grasped Sierra’s hand and instructed her earnestly, "Sierra, no matter what happens, the most important thing is to protect yourself. You hear me?"

Sierra smiled at Jayce. "Don’t worry, I’ll definitely protect myself."

At this moment, in Sierra’s eyes, these Aberrant Beasts represented not only danger, but also countless Crystal Cores.

Having two Superpowers was, of course, a good thing.

If they wanted to find out why Dawnlight Base was under siege, they had to get inside first.

The vehicles charged toward the horde of Aberrant Beasts, instantly drawing their attention.

The Aberrant Beasts had been focused on Dawnlight Base, but the appearance of the vehicles made them a new outlet for the creatures’ fury.

The Aberrant Beasts shrieked and charged, looking as if they wanted to tear the vehicles to pieces.

Although Sierra and the others didn’t leave the vehicles, that didn’t stop them from using their various Superpowers in concert to deal with the Aberrant Beasts.

As the number of dead Aberrant Beasts mounted, even more of them swarmed in from the surroundings, threatening to engulf the small convoy of vehicles.

If it weren’t for Sierra and the other Space Ability Users clearing the ground by pulling the Aberrant Beast corpses into their pocket dimensions, the vehicles would have found it difficult to advance.

Just then, the main gates of Dawnlight Base suddenly swung open, and a group of people charged out.

They were all Superpower Users, and after rushing out, they immediately began to clash with the Aberrant Beasts.

With their help, the pressure on Sierra’s group was greatly reduced, and they were able to advance more quickly.

Once they finally reached the base entrance, the drivers didn’t hesitate for a second, flooring it directly into the base.

The people from Dawnlight Base had timed it perfectly. They were prepared, and as soon as the last vehicle was inside, they quickly retreated, and the base’s main gates slammed shut behind them.

The Superpower Users from Dawnlight Base staggered on their feet, barely managing to support themselves as they headed back inside.

Sierra and the others got out of their vehicles and followed them inside.

General Aldridge took the lead, stepping forward to sit face-to-face with Trevor Thorne, the commander of Dawnlight Base.

Trevor Thorne and General Aldridge were old acquaintances, so they dispensed with the usual pleasantries and got straight to business.

The first thing General Aldridge wanted to know was why Dawnlight Base was under siege.

"What the hell is going on at Dawnlight Base? Why is it surrounded by Aberrant Beasts?" General Aldridge asked bluntly.

The number of Aberrant Beasts was simply overwhelming, and more were still streaming toward them.

Killing all the Aberrant Beasts was simply impossible.

What they needed to do now was find the source of the issue and resolve it at its root, so the Aberrant Beasts would stop besieging Dawnlight Base.

Trevor Thorne’s brows were knitted in a deep frown, his face a mask of confusion. "General Aldridge, to be honest, what you want to know is exactly what I want to know. Everything was fine, and then suddenly, Dawnlight Base was besieged. I can’t make heads or tails of it myself!"

"What’s the point of asking all this!" a young man who bore some resemblance to Trevor Thorne interjected impatiently. "Those Aberrant Beasts are just mindless animals. Who knows why they decided to surround the base out of the blue? Are we supposed to go ask them for a reason and then politely negotiate their departure? If you ask me, we should just kill them all!"

"Kill them all?" General Aldridge shot a look at the young man. "You talk a big game! Why don’t you go ahead then?"

Seeing that General Aldridge was clearly displeased, Trevor Thorne quickly stepped in to defuse the tension.

"General Aldridge, please don’t be angry. This is my son, Nathan Thorne. He has a bit of a fiery temper, but his heart is in the right place; he’s just worried for the base. He doesn’t mean any harm, so please don’t hold it against him. We are incredibly grateful that your people could come to our aid so quickly! But as for now, I truly don’t know why these Aberrant Beasts have surrounded Dawnlight Base. For the moment, we can only play it by ear!"

General Aldridge gave Trevor Thorne a long, hard look. "So what’s your plan?"

’He can’t just say he’s playing it by ear and actually have no plan at all, can he?’

Trevor Thorne sighed. "For now, the Aberrant Beasts are just surrounding us; they don’t seem to be in any hurry to attack. We should use this time to conduct a thorough investigation and see what exactly drew them here.

If we can find the cause and resolve the problem at its source, that would be ideal. But if we can’t find anything, then our only option will be to fight with everything we’ve got."

Trevor Thorne’s brow was furrowed, his tone grave.

As the commander of Dawnlight Base, the survival of its tens of thousands of residents rested on his shoulders. The mere thought of it was crushing.

General Aldridge didn’t press him further. "Then please, Commander Thorne, start your investigation at once. The sooner you find the cause, the better."

"Of course, you can count on it. It’s almost noon now. You all must have expended a great deal of energy on the journey here. I’ve had some food prepared, so please, eat something first."

Trevor Thorne had barely finished speaking when Nathan Thorne curled his lip in disdain.

’So many of them show up, do nothing, and the first thing they want to do is eat? Do they think Dawnlight Base is just here to foot the bill?’

Although Nathan Thorne didn’t voice his thoughts, he wasn’t very good at hiding them, and his displeasure was plain to see on his face.

General Aldridge was not one to indulge such behavior. He shot a cool glance at the father and son. "We came here to help, not to freeload. We brought our own supplies, so we won’t trouble you."

"What are you talking about?" Trevor Thorne said hurriedly. "You all risked life and limb to come help us. If I didn’t even offer you a meal, what kind of person would that make me? It’s already prepared. Please, don’t refuse."

Hearing this, General Aldridge remained noncommittal.

Before long, someone arrived pushing a food cart.

Sierra glanced over casually, one eyebrow arching high.

’Isn’t this meal a little... basic?’

’Are they deliberately trying to slight us, or is this really what the people of Dawnlight Base eat every day?’

On the cart were several large vats filled with a sticky, gooey stew. You could see plenty of meat in it, but it was obvious at a glance that it was all Exotic Beast Meat.
