Teaming Up with My Enemy to Rule the Apocalypse

Nathan Thorne woke up rather quickly.

He opened his eyes after just half an hour.

The moment he opened his eyes, before he was even fully awake, Nathan Thorne opened the backpack he was wearing and started stuffing food into his mouth.

He was wolfing it down even more frantically than before.

To say he was eating like a starving man would be an understatement.

Sierra Sullivan watched this scene, utterly shocked.

But what shocked her even more was yet to come.

As Nathan Thorne continued to eat, he finally found a moment to look over. "Crystal Cores! Give me Crystal Cores!"

Without a second thought, Sierra Sullivan immediately pulled some Crystal Cores from her spatial storage and handed them over.

Nathan Thorne was seen holding a Crystal Core in one hand to absorb its energy, while relentlessly stuffing food into his mouth with the other.

He had clearly mastered the art of multitasking.

Seeing Nathan Thorne like this, who wouldn’t call him exceptionally talented?

Doing two things at once—especially *these* two things—was no easy feat.

But Nathan Thorne did it!

It wasn’t just Sierra Sullivan who was shocked; Jayce and Dominic Crawford were as well.

Although they had many questions, seeing Nathan Thorne in this state, they all knew it wasn’t the right time to ask. In the end, no one said a word.

About ten minutes later, Nathan Thorne stopped doing both things at once and let out a long sigh. Only then did Sierra Sullivan step forward. "Nathan, how are you feeling now?"

"We can talk later!"

With that one hurried sentence, Nathan Thorne got to his feet and walked toward the four bound people.

Seeing his actions, Sierra Sullivan guessed what he was about to do.

He was going to continue trying to save those four people.

’He really is... persistent!’

As she had this thought, the look in Sierra Sullivan’s eyes as she watched Nathan Thorne grew even softer.

Even when he himself could barely hold on, the first thing he did after waking up was try to save his companions.

In the apocalypse, anyone would feel lucky to have a partner like that.

This time, Nathan Thorne once again used up every last drop of his Superpower before he was forced to stop.

Perhaps because he had just woken up, or maybe because he had just replenished his physical and Superpower energy, he didn’t pass out again, even though his Superpower was now completely depleted. He was just deathly pale and had no strength left in his body.

Dominic Crawford walked over to Nathan Thorne and clapped him hard on the shoulder. "Attaboy! You’re a real man! Loyal to the bone!"

Nathan Thorne had been leaning against the sofa, but Dominic Crawford’s pat sent him sprawling flat onto it.

Dominic Crawford hadn’t expected his pat to have such an effect. He stood there, dumbfounded.

But he quickly snapped out of it and carefully helped Nathan Thorne sit up. "Hey man, you okay? Are you all right?"

Nathan Thorne gasped for breath, taking a moment to recover. "I’m okay for now. A few more pats like that, and I probably wouldn’t be."

"You can still crack a joke." Dominic Crawford let out a sigh of relief. "Then it can’t be that serious."

His words made Nathan Thorne laugh, too.

Although his face was pale and he looked exhausted, his smile was genuine.

After laughing, Nathan Thorne looked toward the four people, his expression growing complicated. "I don’t know if I can actually save them, but... I did my best!"

Dominic Crawford instinctively raised his hand to pat Nathan Thorne’s shoulder again, but just as he was about to make contact, he remembered how weak Nathan was. He quickly eased up on the force, and the gesture ended up as a gentle caress on his shoulder.

It lacked its earlier boisterousness, carrying a comforting tone instead.

Nathan Thorne looked at Dominic Crawford with a complicated expression. "You might as well have just hit me hard again!"

That gentle touch just made him feel even more conflicted inside.

His eyes even started to burn, as if something was about to well up.

This feeling was unfamiliar to Nathan Thorne, and it scared him a little.

Just as Dominic Crawford was about to speak, he caught sight of something out of the corner of his eye. Not far away, one of the bound people had suddenly opened their eyes.

The sudden movement startled Dominic Crawford, making him forget what he was about to say.

Nathan Thorne was looking at Dominic Crawford at that moment and found his reaction strange. "Mr. Crawford, what’s wrong?"

Dominic Crawford pointed. "Look, one’s awake!"

It wasn’t just Nathan Thorne; even Sierra Sullivan, who had been looking down and lost in thought, immediately looked in the direction Dominic Crawford was pointing.

The bound person had indeed opened their eyes.

But—their eyes were no longer black, but a hazy blur.

Their mouth was hanging wide open, and their teeth, at some point, had become incredibly sharp.

Their skin had turned unnaturally pale, and the veins beneath it stood out with alarming clarity.

Being stared at by Sierra Sullivan and the others, it seemed displeased. Or perhaps the scent of flesh and blood had excited it. It not only opened its mouth in a silent roar but also struggled violently, trying to break free from its bonds.

Fortunately, the ropes were sturdy.

And fortunately, having just turned into a zombie, it wasn’t that strong yet and couldn’t break completely free.

Sierra Sullivan’s heart was a mess of indescribable emotions. Before she could figure out what to say...

...the zombie’s hand twitched, and a fireball came flying toward them.

This development was so sudden it was completely beyond anyone’s expectations.

The fireball was heading straight for Nathan Thorne.

At this moment, Nathan Thorne didn’t even have the strength to stand up. He was too slow to react to the sudden fireball, and could only stare at it with wide eyes.

It was Dominic Crawford, standing beside him, who reacted faster. He grabbed Nathan Thorne with one hand and dodged to the side.

Although they dodged it and weren’t hit directly by the fireball, his hair was still singed.

A part of Nathan Thorne’s hair was scorched, making him look both pathetic and comical.

"Nathan!" Dominic Crawford looked at him nervously. "How are you? You okay?"

Nathan Thorne shook his head. "Don’t worry, I’m fine."

After making sure Nathan Thorne was really okay, Dominic Crawford finally looked at the zombie, his expression utterly baffled. "It’s already a zombie... how can it still use a Superpower?!"

A zombie with a Superpower!

It was completely unheard of, something they had never seen before.

Sierra Sullivan’s expression was also grave, but she wasn’t entirely unable to understand. "He originally had a Superpower. He was infected with the zombie virus and turned into a zombie, but that doesn’t mean his Superpower would disappear. It’s actually logical."

Jayce glanced at the two of them. "Now is not the time to be discussing this."

Shouldn’t their priority be to deal with this zombie?

Since this zombie could use a Superpower, the ropes definitely wouldn’t hold it for long.

If it managed to break free, it would probably be even harder to deal with.
