Her shouts were loud; it was impossible for the people inside not to hear her.

But everyone acted as if they were deaf, curling up to make themselves smaller.

It was as if by doing so, they could pretend they didn’t exist and ignore the cries from outside with a clear conscience.

The two Superpower Users worked together, having already cleaned and bandaged the injured person’s wounds.

But looking at the injured person’s pale face and weak breathing, neither of them felt any sense of relief.

Even before the apocalypse, an injury this severe would have been extremely dangerous.

An Aberrant Beast!

The Aberrant Beast’s mouth was still moving, and fresh blood was dripping from the corner of its lips.

Seeing this, it was obvious what had become of the woman, no words needed.

She had been eaten.

The survivor who witnessed this immediately pulled back, frantically clamping a hand over their mouth, afraid they would vomit at any second.

But stronger than the nausea was, of course, the fear.

They knew, of course, that Aberrant Beasts were ferocious and the outside world was dangerous.

But knowing it was one thing; witnessing a living person being devoured by an Aberrant Beast, utterly vanishing from the world, was another thing entirely.

If the Superpower Users fighting the Aberrant Beasts outside died, then the people waiting inside the bus would die an even more miserable death.

Regret and lingering fear filled their hearts.

When another Aberrant Beast charged at her again, Sierra’s pupils constricted. She instinctively tried to dodge, but it was too late.

The Aberrant Beast was exceptionally ferocious.

In the blink of an eye, it was right in front of her.

At this very moment, only a tiny distance separated Sierra and the Aberrant Beast.

Sierra could even clearly feel the wind kicked up by its charge and smell its putrid stench.

The Aberrant Beast seemed to be frozen in place.

It stopped just a meter away from her.

Sierra blinked and looked closely, only to see a huge Water Arrow protruding from the Aberrant Beast’s body.

The arrow had been shot from behind the beast.

The Aberrant Beast was enormous, but the arrow had still passed straight through its body.

The next moment, the Aberrant Beast fell heavily to the ground.

With the Aberrant Beast’s body no longer blocking her view, Sierra clearly saw Jayce.

Jayce was staring straight at her, his face filled with lingering fear.

The moment their eyes met, Jayce’s eyes suddenly reddened, and tears streamed down his cheeks.

In front of others, Jayce had always been exceptionally proud.

He wouldn’t just not cry; he wouldn’t even furrow his brow.

But now, Jayce couldn’t care less that there were other people around.

In his heart and in his eyes, there was only Sierra.

Seeing Sierra survive that close call, he was more thrilled than if he himself had been saved.

He didn’t even dare to imagine what he would do if something had happened to Sierra.
