Sierra Sullivan didn’t immediately start eating. "What about yours?"

Before Jayce could answer, he chuckled. "Don’t worry, Sierra. I’m not one to let myself go hungry."

With that, Jayce turned and went back into the kitchen.

When he came out again, he was carrying a—basin.

That’s right, a basin.

Even the largest bowl was a little too small for Jayce these days.

So at this moment, Jayce was using a stainless steel basin.

The basin was filled nearly to the top with steaming noodles and an equally generous amount of toppings.

"See? This one’s all mine!"

Looking at this basin of noodles, Sierra Sullivan finally realized that her worries had been all for nothing.

With an appetite as big as Jayce’s now, he’d be miserable if he didn’t eat his fill. He definitely wouldn’t let himself go hungry.

’That’s good!’

Her mind at ease, Sierra Sullivan sat down, picked up her chopsticks, and started eating without another word.

Noodles were different from rice.

You could still get by eating cold rice; the texture didn’t change too much.

But if noodles got cold, the experience of eating them was completely different.

The noodles would clump together, and then they’d not only look unappetizing but taste even worse.

Jayce’s cooking skills were impeccable; the noodles he made were absolutely delicious.

However, Sierra Sullivan was still craving something spicy.

Sierra Sullivan got up and went to the kitchen. Taking the opportunity, she retrieved two types of chili sauce and a bottle of aged black vinegar from her space.

Of the two chili sauces, one was a chopped chili paste with a fresh, spicy flavor.

The other was a chili oil, bright red in color, with an even more fragrant and spicy aroma.

Even before taking a bite, just the smell was enough to make one’s mouth water.

As soon as the chili oil was added to the bowl, a layer of red oil floated on top of the noodles, making them look even more appetizing.

Just as Sierra Sullivan was about to eat, she felt Candice Tate’s gaze on her.

Seeing Candice Tate staring at her without blinking, Sierra Sullivan was amused. "Candice, what is it?"

Candice Tate looked on eagerly. "I want some too."

Sierra Sullivan wasn’t surprised by this answer at all.

Kids are all like that.

When they see adults eating something, they always want to try it, regardless of whether they can handle it.

This wasn’t a big deal.

Sierra Sullivan got up, grabbed a small bowl, ladled some of her noodles into it, and handed it to Candice Tate. "Try mine first. If you think you can handle it, then you can add some to your own bowl."

"Okay!"

Candice Tate agreed happily and eagerly started eating.

She had barely taken one bite before she started coughing uncontrollably.

Her fair, delicate little face instantly turned beet red.

Luckily, there was soy milk right next to her. She quickly grabbed it and chugged half the bottle in one go, which finally brought her some relief.

Sierra Sullivan held back a laugh and asked, "Want more?"

Candice Tate was a little embarrassed. "It’s so spicy! I’ll just finish what’s in this small bowl, and then I won’t have any more."

Hearing this, Sierra Sullivan found it a bit strange. "If you think it’s too spicy, you can just stop eating. Why do you have to finish it?"

"Food is very scarce now. We can’t waste it!" Candice Tate answered seriously.

Hearing Candice Tate’s words, Sierra Sullivan was stunned for a moment, but mostly she felt a sense of pride.

’It’s wonderful that a child as young as Candice Tate already understands this!’

"You can give it to me to eat!" Sierra Sullivan said again.

But Candice Tate shook her head again. "No! Mommy said that if you take food for yourself, you have to finish it, no matter what!"

Sierra Sullivan’s eyes widened slightly.

’Her mother taught her these things at such a young age?’

’More importantly, Candice Tate actually learned them!’

’What a pleasant surprise!’

Sierra Sullivan was filled with emotion, and her gaze toward Candice Tate became even more gratified.

"You’re amazing, Candice!"

"It’s just what I’m supposed to do!"

As she spoke, Candice Tate picked up her chopsticks again and took small bites of the noodles in her little bowl.

This time she ate very slowly and didn’t choke.

But her face and mouth grew redder and redder.

Sierra Sullivan wanted to stop her, but in the end, she didn’t say anything.

Candice Tate already had the right mindset. Sierra couldn’t let a moment of soft-heartedness change that about her.

That wouldn’t actually be good for Candice Tate; it would be a self-righteous form of kindness.

For the rest of the meal, the three of them didn’t speak.

The entire dining area was silent, with only the sound of the three of them slurping their noodles.

Not long after they finished eating, there was a knock on the front door.

Jayce got up to clear the bowls and chopsticks, while Sierra Sullivan went to the living room to get the door.

Seeing this, Candice Tate hopped up and followed along.

Sierra Sullivan walked to the door but didn’t open it immediately. "Who is it?"

"Captain Sullivan, it’s me."

The voice was very familiar.

Sierra Sullivan couldn’t recall his name right away, but she immediately knew who he was.

He was a Space Ability User.

He was just a boy, and Sierra hadn’t interacted with him much, so she didn’t even remember his name.

But that wasn’t important. Sierra Sullivan already knew why he was here, so she just opened the door.

"Perfect timing." Sierra Sullivan looked at him. "Did you clear out your space ahead of time?"

After she spoke, Sierra Sullivan noticed that he was a very young man.

He looked to be in his early twenties.

She didn’t know his exact age, but from the looks of it, he was probably younger than her.

His cheeks were a little red, as if he were shy.

Sierra Sullivan didn’t quite understand. She had been all business with him, so what was there to be shy about? 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

But then she considered that it might just be his personality, and she let it go.

"Hello, Captain Sullivan. I’ve already cleared out my space! My name is Leo Lowell."

As Leo Lowell spoke, his face seemed to turn even redder than before.

Sierra Sullivan looked at Leo Lowell, baffled.

’What’s with this kid?’

’His voice sounded normal when he was knocking, so why is he blushing the second he starts talking?’

Though a bit perplexed, Sierra Sullivan didn’t press the issue or ask any questions. "As long as it’s empty. Go ahead and put all this stuff from the living room into your space!"

Leo Lowell followed her into the living room and finally got a clear look at what was inside.

The moment he saw it all, Leo Lowell’s eyes went wide.

Ever since the apocalypse, he had never seen so many fruits and vegetables.

Just looking at them was enough to make his mouth water.

As his mouth began to water, Leo Lowell grew even more embarrassed. This time, it wasn’t just his face that turned red—even his neck flushed.

Red face or not, Leo Lowell didn’t forget what he was there to do.

He walked forward and quickly collected everything on the floor into his space.

Seeing this, Sierra Sullivan finally nodded in satisfaction.

"Don’t go yet! There’s more!"

Leo Lowell stared at Sierra Sullivan, not quite understanding what she meant.

Although he was confused, he was obedient. He stood there quietly and waited without asking a single question.
