By the time they exited the shopping mall with all of their gains, the duo had blown over $100,000 and did not even feel the pinch. Kaizer made sure to transfer around 1.5 million of the money his father gave him to Rina so she too could have some ’pocket money.’
Of course, when shopping today, the money they spent was Kaizer’s. You know how sisters are.
They split their things into the two different cars and had to even leave some to be hauled over by the mall’s pickup delivery vans because they couldn’t fit.
When they got back to their villa, the servants who handled the place were surprised to see all that was brought, and Kaizer informed them of the extra appliances that would come later, leaving them thoroughly speechless.
It seems that apart from talent, our new master and mistress were extremely rich?
Kaizer went to his room, took a bath, and plopped down onto his bed, not willing to do anything but rest right now. Even though he had the medical pod to recover physical strain, injuries, and fatigue, the mental fatigue from resisting the feeling of collapsing was still there.
He had been holding out all this while, but now that he was finally home, he couldn’t hold back anymore, falling right into the arms of sleep. He did not even have dinner, which showed how tired he was. Rina, who was downstairs stuffing her face at this time, was surprised that he did not come.
The next morning, Kaizer only woke up due to his alarm at 5 am. Even then, he was completely groggy and bleary, barely able to gather himself, reduced to a mere mortal with zero esper abilities for a split second.
However, at the end of the day, he was still a psychic. His mind sobered up fast and his mental faculties returned to their normal sharpness, allowing him to push himself out of bed to brush his teeth and have a deep soak.
He was not looking forward to the training today, but he knew it was now something he could not avoid. When he went downstairs to have breakfast, Rina was already there, stuffing her face again, which left Kaizer speechless because even though his sister was a greedy little minx, she was not usually this voracious.
Seeing his confusion, Rina, who had crammed three pieces of bacon in between two pieces of dry toast and was about to munch it, paused and felt compelled to explain. "My innate death power recovers in two ways: either by killing people or by generating it myself. To generate it, I need energy, so..."
Kaizer nodded and also began to eat slowly. At 7 am, the duo left the villa, this time going to the same place, which was a public class being held at the Auditorium. As both the Dean and Madam Sylvia advised the duo separately to attend as many of these classes as possible, they paid heed to this.
The drive to the auditorium was initially smooth, the morning sun casting golden light over the majority of the academy grounds, the roads being wide and well-kept, lined with trees that swayed gently in the breeze. The campus was alive with students moving toward their destinations, some walking in groups, others floating in the air or flickering from place to place, using their abilities in casual yet controlled manners.
Rina did try to race him as they rushed forward, but Kaizer was not bothered. With his Telesthesia that reached 290 meters around, he could tell if any accident were to occur, so he indulged Rina—as usual—and sped up a bit, but used his power to correct any mistakes that would have been made.
As their cars approached, the auditorium came into full view. It was a massive, circular structure, definitely designed to accommodate thousands at once. Its exterior was sleek and modern, made of dark reflective panels that shifted in color when viewed from different angles. Large, curved windows allowed natural light to pour into the spacious halls within, along with the academy’s crest that was displayed prominently above the entrance, glowing faintly with embedded energy lines that pulsed with a steady rhythm.
The duo pulled into the parking area, which was vast and segmented into different zones, each designated for different student ranks. Unlike the regular lots found elsewhere on campus, the one nearest to the auditorium had reinforced flooring, designed to withstand the occasional accidents that came with esper abilities. A few students were already gathered near the entrance, chatting or practicing light exercises before class.
Kaizer and Rina stepped out, their presence drawing some attention. It wasn’t every day that a new duo of powerful espers joined the academy, especially ones who parked in the zone for Special Echelon students. Without paying much heed to the glances, they made their way toward the large automated doors, which slid open with a soft hum as they stepped inside.
The interior was somehow even grander than the outside, and that was saying something. The ceiling stretched high above, embedded with luminescent panels that mimicked the natural sky, subtly shifting in brightness as the minutes passed. Rows of seats were arranged in a semi-circle around a central stage, which itself was a dynamic platform capable of morphing to suit different lectures and demonstrations. The walls had embedded AR projectors, ready to generate interactive visuals and simulations at a moment’s notice.
Kaizer took in the size of the room and sighed. "I hope we don’t have to sit through too much theory."
Rina smirked, still munching on a protein bar she had snuck in. "Knowing this place? We’ll probably end up in an AR battle scenario before the lecture is over."
With that thought, they made their way to their seats, waiting for the session to begin. The seats here were also segregated based on student rank, with those of the Special Echelon slated to sit at the very front while the lower ranks stretched all the way to the back.
Seeing Kaizer and Rina, dressed in their casual training attire, coming to sit at the front in the open seats meant for Special Echelon students, many curious eyes fell on them. This was especially the case for the five Special Echelon students already here.
The first was a hulking mass of a young man with bronze skin and spiky black hair that stretched out behind him, his body constantly glowing with green electricity that sparkled over him from time to time. His bright green eyes were full of restrained arrogance and calmness, glancing at the two newcomers while sizing them up in his head.
He simply wore a tight black long-sleeved t-shirt that looked like it was padded with steel plates, meant for special forces, along with similar black pants which had a special belt area for equipment that was filled with steel balls the size of marbles.
Tucked into his black combat boots, the man looked like someone not to be messed with, despite his youthful face that was likely no older than 19 years of age.
The second esper was a young woman who exuded an air of sharp intelligence and refined confidence.
Her long, dark brown hair cascaded down her back in soft waves but was neatly tied into twin tails, secured by elegant black ribbons. Her piercing blue eyes carried an intense focus, as if she was constantly analyzing everything around her.
She was dressed in a form-fitting red jacket with black trim over a high-collared black shirt, paired with a sleek black skirt and thigh-high boots. Despite her elegance, there was something undeniably fierce about her, as if she wouldn’t hesitate to put someone in their place should they cross her.
She didn’t give Kaizer and Rina more than a passing glance, her gaze returning to the tablet in her hands, flicking through some material with a look of disinterest. But there was no doubt—she had already assessed them the moment they walked in.
The third esper had an entirely different presence, one that commanded attention not through arrogance or intensity, but through sheer unshakable composure.
He was tall and lean, with long, straight silver hair that draped down his back, reaching past his waist. His pale complexion and cold, gray eyes gave him a detached, almost otherworldly air. His face was sharp, angular, and eerily calm, like a statue carved from ice, unmoved by the world around him.
Dressed in traditional-style robes of black and white, with intricate silver embroidery, he carried himself with effortless grace. The way he sat, back straight and hands resting lightly on his lap, made it seem like he was a noble from an ancient lineage, observing the world from above. His demeanor made it impossible to tell what he was thinking, but the subtle aura of power around him was undeniable.
Unlike the others, he didn’t even acknowledge Kaizer and Rina’s arrival, not out of arrogance, but out of what seemed to be genuine disinterest. It was as if nothing in this room was worth his time.
The fourth esper was a stark contrast to the cold aristocrat.
She was built like a fighter, tall and powerfully toned, with short, choppy dark green hair that framed her sharp features. Her golden eyes carried an unmistakable fire, bold and defiant, where if the silver-haired esper was ice, then she was fire, burning with an intensity that couldn’t be ignored.
She wore a sleeveless black training top that exposed her muscular arms, wrapped in tight bandages up to her wrists. She had a dark green combat skirt that was secured with a thick utility belt, along with the scabbard of a long, slightly curved blade resting at her waist.
Everything about her, from her stance to the way her fingers drummed impatiently against her thigh, indicated ’troublesome’.
Unlike the others, she didn’t just notice Kaizer and Rina, she was openly sizing them up, a smirk creeping onto her lips.
"Well, well... fresh blood in the Special Echelon?" She muttered, her voice carrying a rough, confident edge.
The fifth and final esper had a completely different energy from all the others.
He was tall and broad-shouldered, with wild, golden-brown hair and an easygoing grin that made him seem far too relaxed for someone in the Special Echelon. His emerald-green eyes had a sharp glint of mischief, as if he was constantly amused by the world around him.
He was dressed in a slightly open white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, revealing thick forearms wrapped in protective tape. A pair of fashionable brown pants and elite boots completed his look, giving off the impression of a rich old-school adventurer.
However, despite his casual appearance, the way he carried himself showed experience akin to a seasoned warrior who had seen his fair share of battles but still found a way to enjoy life.
Leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed behind his head, he chuckled. "Hehe, woxup?"
Unlike the others, he wasn’t cold or reserved, just playful.
Overall, an interesting bunch.
