Listing them on the board, the Dean highlighted the various sections that Kaizer had just mentioned.
Force Projection: Pushing, pulling, exerting raw telekinetic force.
Object Control: Lifting, throwing, moving items with the mind.
Physical Enhancement: Strengthening the body to perform superhuman feats.
Corpse Control: Controlling the musculature of a corpse to move it like a puppet.
Micro-Manipulation: Controlling molecules and smaller forces, like condensing wind to make the basic psychic barrier.
Terrain Adjustment: Using telekinesis to affect the area to create favorable situations.
"So from telekinesis alone, we have six applications, of which you have dabbled in all but terrain manipulation. This is impressive, Kaizer, but do you believe me if I tell you that there are many more than this?" Dean Rochester said as he glanced at the board.
Kaizer nodded. "Please share them with me, Mentor."
"Naturally," Dean Rochester replied as he wrote down four more applications.
He moved to the side and let Kaizer see them, capping the black marker and using his cane to tap the first application he wrote.
"Telekinetic Extension. You are a well-read young man, so you’ve heard about the basic magus spell called Mage Hand, right? The theory here is the same, you use telekinetic force to create a ’hand’ of telekinetic power that can perform various feats."
"If small, it can act with more precision than typical Object Control, typing on keyboards and writing words. If large, it can deal heavy blows more powerful than Force Projection while utilizing martial arts and special techniques developed for the human body."
The Dean smiled. "At its peak, you can create a virtual body made of telekinetic power to fight for you, mirroring your own actions and acting much in the same way that Eleanor did for Davion." 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Dean Rochester tapped on the second application with his cane. "Gravity Manipulation. This doesn’t mean actually controlling the force of gravity itself, but using your telekinetic power to simulate the force of gravity."
"By applying telekinetic pressure to a person, you can slow them down by ’increasing’ their weight, causing them to fall to their knees and be unable to get up. Likewise, in the same way you use transvection to fly, you can ’decrease’ their weight and let them detach from the ground, creating a key moment of disruption in anyone’s flow."
Dean Rochester tapped on the third application. "Body Control. Since you can infuse your telekinesis into a corpse to move it, what’s to say you can’t hijack the body of a living person? In fact, more than moving them as a puppet, you can stop their blood flow, crush their hearts, or turn their brains to mush with telekinetic power."
Kaizer shook his head. "I considered this from the very first moment, but it’s not feasible. Unlike my own body, which I control, or the body of a corpse, which is uncontrolled, the body of another person will resist my telekinesis."
"To give an example, mentor, it is the difference between driving a car with its tires intact for corpse control and driving a car with its tires completely burst and turned into raw rims, dragging across the asphalt in the case of taking over a living being."
Dean Rochester nodded. "I know this, but don’t forget that your telekinetic power is not the same as when you freshly awoke. I’ve noticed that when you judge your telekinetic power, you tend to use the worst possible baseline, which is your standard when you first awoke."
"Right now, your telekinetic strength is more than ten times greater than those first moments, so the difficulties you would have faced then are greatly different from now. It may not be difficult to control someone like Bjorn, who is all about physical strength, but it should not be as difficult to control a normal person or a low-level esper."
Dean Rochester shook his head and focused on the board. "But it will depend on the actual application. I have still prepared relevant materials to train you in this, so it will be up to circumstances to judge its effectiveness in battle."
"The final application of telekinesis I have for you today is the Telekinetic Domain. This is a makeshift version of telesthesia for those who were born without it or for situations when your telesthesia is unavailable for whatever reason."
"Basically, you condense your telekinesis into a net around you, forming thin wires or strings that allow you to detect anything moving within your controllable range like a spider in its web. This method would have given you some resistance against Eleanor’s speed, for example."
Dean Rochester put his cane down and smiled at Kaizer. "There are many more applications, but we will focus on making you proficient in utilizing these ten for your first year. Are you ready?"
Kaizer nodded. "Yes, mentor. No matter what, I will be ready."
"Good, that’s enough about telepathy, let’s talk about your telesthesia now. Before we even talk about applications of it, let’s talk about your biggest problem with your telesthesia, which is the source of it."
Dean Rochester tapped his cane on the ground and manifested a seat opposite Kaizer, coming to sit down.
"Telesthesia is the release of your five senses outward, mixed with psychic power as a base. Your psychic power is not the problem, as it is increased by your special nature, having reached 500 meters from your initial 100 meters."
The Dean shook his head. "No, the problem manifests itself in your five senses themselves. They are not weak and are slightly stronger than the average person, but have not been honed to their limit. If they were stronger, Eleanor would not have been able to escape your detection."
Dean Rochester crossed his legs in a gentlemanly manner. "In these coming months, we will focus solely on honing your five senses to the limit and beyond. As for applications, you can consider them in the coming years after you max out your fundamentals."
"Finally, there’s also your telepathy." Dean Rochester said as he rose from his seat again and turned toward the whiteboard, erasing the previous notes before writing ’Telepathy’ in capitals.
He underlined it twice, then faced Kaizer with a smile.
"Now, telepathy is generally seen as mind-reading, communication, and emotional detection. But for someone of your caliber, that’s far too narrow."
Kaizer tilted his head slightly. "That is true, mentor."
"There are applications of telepathy that are not just advanced, but also unorthodox yet effective." The Dean said.
He tapped the board and began listing them down, speaking as he wrote.
"First is something George used often, Psychic Lure," Dean Rochester began.
He turned to Kaizer and folded his arms behind his back. "You can send out thoughts, right? So why not broadcast false thoughts or emotions into the environment to attract or distract enemies? For example, projecting fear into a weak-minded soldier can cause them to panic. Or implanting ’footsteps’ in someone’s subconscious makes them think they’re being followed."
Kaizer raised an eyebrow. "So... like psychological bait?"
"Possibly," the Dean chuckled.
"The next application is one I personally like, also from your grandfather; Mental Lock. Most psychic espers use telepathy to scan others, but very few use it as a binding tool. Using telepathy, you can concentrate your mental presence and forcibly lock an opponent’s thought pattern, thereby temporarily freezing their next decision mid-process."
"Sounds like a psychic stun," Kaizer murmured thoughtfully.
"It’s not far off," the Dean confirmed.
He tapped the next one. "Network Casting. This one is simple but underutilized and undervalued despite its great utility. Using telepathy, you can connect multiple minds at once."
Dean Rochester raised his left palm. "On one hand, you can connect yourself and your allies, like your squad during Al-Rafid. You have real-time, seamless, and interruptible communication that cannot be traced or hacked into."
Then he lifted his other palm. "Then on the other hand, you can link a group of enemies and force them to feel each other’s pain or hear each other’s thoughts, causing instant confusion."
Kaizer’s eyes lit up a little. "Weaponized empathy?"
"Very apt phrasing," the Dean acknowledged.
"There is also Memory Mirage, which you are somewhat familiar with. Instead of just reading memories, you implant false ones. It’s subtle, long-term, and if used well, you can make someone think they already fought you and lost. Or that you’re their ally." Dean Rochester continued by tapping the board again.
Kaizer frowned softly. "Rewriting someone’s cognition... that will not be easy."
"After that is something I like to call ’Phantom Voice’. Using your telepathic ability, attempt to project your voice from different locations. This can throw off snipers or confuse guards if you are infiltrating a high-security area. It can even perform multi-point negotiations if you need to be in two places at once." Dean Rochester explained with a chuckle.
Kaizer smiled despite himself. "That sounds like a Rina prank waiting to happen."
"...I worry for your sister." the Dean was left speechless.
He quickly moved on. "Now, the last one for today is inspired by Buddhist and Daoist concepts, called Introspection. Most people think telepathy is external, but it can be inward-facing too in the sense that you can monitor your own bodily functions with precision.
"Your heart rate, muscle strain, brain fatigue, etc. Eventually, you’ll learn how to shut off panic, suppress pain, and even regulate your emotions manually." Dean Rochester concluded.
Kaizer looked somewhat impressed. "That would’ve helped when my barrier broke mid-combat."
Dean Rochester closed the marker cap and smiled. "Then it’s a good thing I’m teaching you now."
