Three days passed since Kaizer was attacked, and he was on his way to school in the morning.
This time, he was driving to school in the back of a Range Rover Evoque, his eyes closed as he continued to practice his psychic powers by focusing on random thoughts he could scan as the car moved rapidly through the highways.
One thing that plagued him often during the era of his weak telepathy was that he could only switch off his ability to sense emotions, not control it. Right now, since it was fully activated, Kaizer wanted to cultivate an ability that allowed him to selectively ignore thoughts from all minds within his sensory range.
In these three days, apart from practicing, he had been reading countless books and mangas, as well as consuming a lot of anime and movies. The main focus of his consumption was the book Guild Wars, written by a genius author, Pysren, a manga about psychic powers, Mob Psycho 100, an anime about psychic powers, and X-Men, a movie about a group of mutants, but mostly focusing on the tragedy of Jean Grey.
These materials had completely cleared up his ignorance about psychic powers and also gave him training directions, as the main characters—or the character possessing psychic powers—often had training arcs after being beaten by the bad guy.
Luckily, the creative fellows who made these works had detailed such training methods, which Kaizer could pick up. Aside from that, his biggest gain was the methods in which these fellows used their power, which helped him condense more sub-powers under the Six Paths that he could try to acquire. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Kaizer realized, with much burning passion, that his journey was long. There was so much that he could do and acquire, with the sky—and his own desire for strength—being the very limit.
So far, he hadn't tried to practice any of the Six Paths aside from the two he already had. Even though he was a hot-blooded youth who was excited about his awakening, he still had the clarity of mind to understand that a bird in hand is better than two in the bush.
Apart from a certain 'faker', no one could pull off the jack of all trades, master of none, and make it work. It was better to eat what was on his plate fully before trying to grab another meal and place it before him, because one thing Kaizer had to acknowledge was that his 'stomach' in this metaphorical example, was not limitless.
Where his limit lay, he didn't know. He didn't feel any sort of barrier or bottleneck in this time, and his power had been growing like a rocket since the first day he almost collapsed by lifting an SUV for a split second.
As of now, he could lift that same Escalade for about 15 seconds before collapsing, but he could not move it even an inch. However, this went to show how fast his 'stability' was growing.
In these three days, Kaizer had condensed all he'd learned and created a personal training regime. Firstly, he understood that when it came to telekinesis, for example, there were two main criteria that he needed to focus on.
One was 'Strength' and the other was 'Endurance'. Strength focused on the maximum power he could exert while lifting any item, from making it rise to making it accelerate, as well as the suddenness of the movement. Obviously, lifting a pen required low strength, but lifting a car was something that required great strength.
Endurance focused on his ability to sustain his power usage in any scenario. Naturally, it was a great thing to be able to lift a car, but if it only lasted a second, this was useless in combat. Some telekinetic psychics did not even have the strength to lift heavy items, but they could use smaller ones for hours on end to slice up their foes, like knives, for example.
There were also those who could shatter an entire house with a wave of telekinetic power, but that was it. They would fall to the ground in a heap like a certain explosive crimson demon.
So basically, upper limit vs lower limit training. Most people varied on this topic, because some felt upper limit training was better and some would argue that lower limit training was far better, with both schools of thought having valid points.
Did Kaizer want to be season 1 Midoriya who shattered his arm with every super-powered punch? Or did he want to be the season 2 one who only used 5% of the strength but no longer damaged himself and could fight to some extent?
The answer was neither!
Kaizer wanted to become the strongest! He wanted to be the man who lamented that fighting was too boring because everything ended in one punch!
This desire was partly due to his masculine urge for strength, partly due to his boyish desire for superpowers and recognition, partly due to his near-death experience, which left him feeling insecure about his survival in this layered world, and finally, partly due to his own experiences growing up.
Even without being attacked by Carla, Kaizer had never resisted his father's suggestion for gun training, learning self-defense, and cyber security. Unlike other youths who took it for granted, he was often forcibly privy to tragedies experienced by others through his former weak telepathy, and he did not want to be a first-hand victim.
Already, his emotional connection to others made him like a third-party viewer who saw the horrors through a very blurry screen, causing him to not see the exact scenes, but the feelings were vivid. To describe it like a cinema, it was akin to the video being barely discernible, but the audio was extremely clear and very loud.
As for bodyguards, those were the only things Kaizer resisted, even though his mother insisted back then, because he felt with his senses, he could detect malice ahead of time and deal with it himself. Well, he was partly right given how things ended with Carla, but he was also wrong because he underestimated the world.
As such, even as the car slowly pulled into the driveway of his college, he was seated in the back with two professional ex-servicemen in the front seats. They would be his bodyguards henceforth, and Kaizer did not refuse them because he had no logical excuse to.
People who often awoke powers or traveled to fantasy worlds liked to play lone wolf and prevent others from helping because they planned to do things that could not be scrutinized. This was often due to their poverty or need for certain resources to increase their power, but Kaizer needed none of that.
If it wasn't for his own nonchalance, he could buy out half the properties in this city. Money was just a number to him, so he didn't need to sneak into underworld factions to gather slaves or play at casinos and cheat with his powers to acquire money.
He just needed to be stable, act normally, and train his powers in silence. By acting as anyone in his situation would, he would eventually leave the sight of the officials or anyone else affiliated with Carla because they would judge him to be normal.
This was Kaizer's ideal scenario.
