In truth, this was quite obvious from the start. Telepathy was amazing in allowing one to read minds, but within Kaizer's current controllable range of 100 meters around him, he could still sense everything as if he were physically there without having to tap into thoughts.
That was definitely Telesthesia, only he could not expand this range at all. Apart from that, he could vaguely sense an inclination of what was about to happen, like a clairvoyant, which was what he mostly relied on during the interrogation.
Otherwise, he could not have described the fake savior accurately enough to mislead the two officers.
Aside from this, Kaizer could vaguely feel ethereal presences in the void, seemingly a paper-thin barrier away from him. He couldn't see or hear anything, but he was definitely aware of a separate veil in reality where something unspeakable existed, something humanity was not ready for.
Kaizer did not know how to feel. Any person would be excited to awaken powers, and even he was somewhat moved to have upgraded his mostly passive ability into something that looked like it had strong growth potential.
But he was completely insecure. A person who won $10,000 would be ecstatic, going out to have some fun, save some of it, and maybe buy some cool new games while they were at it. There wouldn't be much pressure with that amount because there were countless others earning this amount even faster than you.
However, if one received around $10 billion in raw cash, that was another thing. No matter how calm and air-headed you were, you would instinctively begin to see shadows on the walls, because this amount of money was more than enough for certain parties to act in the name of greed.
Kaizer had never really hidden his previous weak Telepathy, but he also didn't share it because he knew that no one would feel comfortable around a person who could read minds. The mind is one's final sanctuary, where they could be as unscrupulous, evil, and immoral as they wanted without any repercussion.
You, a normal person, might be in class, boredly thinking about what it would be like to have superpowers while the teacher droned on about math. But the class beauty who always seemed aloof could be thinking about the most debaucherous orgy she wanted to experience, where everything followed her will.
However, as long as she said nothing, you would never know and would judge her based on her outward disposition, which was that of an excellent and prudent scholar. But if such a person knew that Kaizer in the back row could see the entire scene, how could they feel safe to be within their own heads?
But his current existence was completely unacceptable. Whether it was the power he possessed right now—which was already enough for many powers to feel uncomfortable—or his future power when his potential was realized, he was something that both Espers and non-Espers could not tolerate.
Telekinesis was fine; it was a versatile offensive/defensive power with relative power that many would be willing to invest in. The same applied to Elemental Control, Channeling, and Spacetime. These categories were mostly acceptable because, while they were good, they could mostly be used for either combat or support, making them loosely useful to many factions.
However, Telepathy and Telesthesia were unacceptable. The former left no one with secrets from the psychic in question, while the latter left one completely unable to control or ambush the psychic. A combination of both was downright frightening, requiring the use of extremely hardcore methods to take the person down.
Kaizer did not need such a target on his back.
As he sat down, he finally turned his eye to his desk, where his computer was in standby mode from when he last used it. He saw that his notepad and pen were still behind the monitor, and his eyes flashed as he decided to begin testing himself before he fell into a rabbit hole of overthinking.
A blue outline faintly formed around the pen, lifting it into the air slowly and shakily. Kaizer frowned because he realized that his fine control from when he freshly awakened seemed to have disappeared, becoming something clumsy that required practice.
Anyway, that was fine. Yesterday, he had overloaded his brain due to the perilous situation and fainted. If he didn't want to faint every time he used his own ability, it was best to train his control over his power extensively.
Kaizer practiced with the pen for about thirty minutes, realizing with surprise that he felt no fatigue even after using his power for so long. The pen had also become much more stable, zipping around his room with ease like a remote-controlled airplane used by a child.
Kaizer was satisfied with his own progress but knew he still had a long way to go. His current level of ability would not be able to kill Carla if she resurrected and charged at him again. With her strength, he would need to at least be able to lift an SUV and zip it around with ease like the pen.
Otherwise, if he tried to bind someone like her with telekinetic power, she would just break out of it with her superhuman strength and cause his brain to suffer backlash. This was also the biggest reason why the officials eventually had to drop the case: how could a newly awakened person possibly defeat Carla with such crushing strength?
This dark Esper, whom they struggled to deal with, was rendered helpless and squeezed like an empty Coke can, leaving a terrifying corpse behind.
Kaizer stood up and walked to his window, looking down at the driveway of the manor. He saw the Escalade they had come in parked under the mini-pavilions that shielded it from the sun's glare, one of the servants washing the car after it had been used today.
When the person was done, the car was left to dry, and Kaizer had a thought as a blue outline formed around the car. It then began to rise into the air slowly, just a few centimeters off the ground, but this already made Kaizer's entire face turn red, and his chest tighten. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He had to drop the car and fell to his knees while panting, beads of sweat forming on his forehead as his previously seemingly inexhaustible mental stamina was completely bottomed out. Right now, he felt like a person who did not often go to the gym and tried to bench press 50 kg at once for the first time.
Kaizer was so tired he simply lay on the floor while panting, his eyes showing spots while his stomach churned with nausea. Lifting something as big as the car without working on his stamina first was definitely not wise, but it at least let him know his maximum capacity at the moment and how to measure his growth.
Kaizer eventually got up and wiped his forehead, feeling strangely energized despite his pounding head and throbbing temples. Being floored by this task was not a problem, for it merely represented his starting point!
Now, he had so much room to grow, and no one could stop him!
Or so he thought.
