Psychic Overlord

As the final echoes of Zev Lume’s victory faded into the thundering applause, the stadium lights dimmed once more, casting the massive arena into shadow.

A single spotlight snapped onto the central podium where Lysandra now stood, hands behind her back, her expression carrying a rare solemnity.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" Her voice rang clear, slicing through the stadium’s expectant silence.

"The first round of the Titanium Division has concluded! And what a battlefield it has been, hasn’t it? Pretty much like a clash of bloodlines, dreams, and destiny!" She bellowed while spreading her arms out.

The crowd responded with a roar, though quieter, more reverent than before.

Lysandra nodded with satisfaction, and the main screen behind her shifted, showing the newly organized bracket, gleaming in polished platinum text:

A new murmur swept across the arena as everyone digested the matchups.

Lysandra smirked slightly and spoke again, her voice infused with a teacher’s clarity. "You’ll notice, no S-Class titan will face another S-Class... yet."

She let that hang for a moment before continuing. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"In the interest of fairness — and to preserve the spirit of the Titanium Division — Round 2 has been structured to match our strongest against the best survivors from the A-Class ranks. Not because of favoritism..."

Her eyes glinted mischievously.

"...but because the world does not pit kings against kings in the first hour of battle. No, my friends. First, kings must prove they can withstand the storm of challengers!"

The crowd rumbled, some cheering, some pounding the stadium barriers.

"In Round 2, each S-Class combatant will be tested by a proven A-Class champion in order to gauge adaptability, patience, and control. And when the smoke clears... only then will the true gods of this generation clash."

Even the VIP section leaned forward slightly at her words.

Kaizer, arms folded, simply nodded slightly, his blue eyes calm.

Tyrron cracked his knuckles loudly, earning a few glances from neighboring competitors.

Eleanor tapped her tablet without looking up, as if already studying future enemies.

Lucian didn’t blink. He didn’t have to.

In the Special Echelon balcony, Sophia brushed her gloved hands together softly.

Rina simply popped another piece of gum with a wicked grin.

Roland flicked his sunglasses up onto his forehead and flashed a lazy, lopsided smile.

The atmosphere shifted again, becoming tighter, heavier, and more electric.

Lysandra lifted her hand one final time and announced. "Prepare yourselves, for after today, there will be no hiding nor any mercy, only the future."

The screens dimmed briefly...

...and the next stage of the Titanium Division was ready to begin.

The crowd had barely finished murmuring about the new bracket when the next match ignited onto the main screen.

The atmosphere dropped a full ten degrees immediately, not from tension, but because Rael Vaska was already stepping onto the stage, frost hissing from beneath his boots.

Rael was lean, pale-skinned, and wore a sleeveless tunic-like shirt reinforced with frostweave bands. In his right hand, a long crystalline spear shimmered with coils of living ice, sharp enough to split stone.

"Contestant Rael Vaska, Icebind Spear. Ability: Ice Elemental Manifestation," Lysandra announced crisply.

Rael spun his spear once, then drove it into the ground at his side, sending cracks of frozen mist spiraling outward across the platform.

He then turned to face the entrance tunnel, planting his weapon firmly, waiting.

The crowd leaned forward in excitement as another name flashed across the arena.

And then he appeared.

Kaizer Lunin descended the platinum stairs at an unhurried pace, hands tucked into his black combat suit pockets, the faint glimmer of psychic force already whispering around his figure.

"Contestant Kaizer Lunin. Alias: Overlord. Rating: S-Class. Discipline: Psychic Power, Six Paths Level Control Suspected."

That last phrase caused another ripple through the VIP observers.

"Six Paths Level Control?!" Some whispered with fear.

Kaizer reached the center of the arena and finally looked up, locking eyes with Rael while his expression remained perfectly neutral.

Rael smirked and spun his spear again. "I’ve fought psychics before, even mind-readers. Ice doesn’t care about tricks."

Kaizer didn’t reply.

Lysandra raised her hand, her voice a clear cut through the frozen air.

"BEGIN!"

Instantly, Rael lunged forward, channeling his Icebind energy. A wave of glacial spears erupted from the ground beneath Kaizer, aiming to impale and immobilize him before he could set up.

The audience gasped as the frozen assault raced forward like a tsunami of spikes.

Kaizer remained still.

Then — whoompf! — a small pulse of psychic energy burst from his body, and along with it... heat.

Not ordinary heat too, but fire that burned hotter than one could imagine.

The frost beneath Kaizer’s boots evaporated mid-formation, leaving a dry, steaming patch as if the ice had never touched him.

A flick of his hand, almost lazy, and a single flame spiraled upward from his palm, small and pure.

The fire wasn’t normal either.

It was psychic fire, which was forged directly from his mind, shaped into reality through sheer precision of will.

The ice wave shattered meters away, steam bursting violently as elemental force met direct counterforce.

Rael gritted his teeth, driving his Icebind Spear into the ground again, this time summoning hardened ice armor across his body and hurling dozens of bladed icicles through the air.

Kaizer simply lifted his fingers.

The tiny flame spun outward, splitting into seven miniature orbiting flames that curved along invisible - to non psychics eyes - psychic trajectories, intercepting every shard effortlessly.

Each icicle melted into mist before they could even approach him.

The arena became filled with water vapor and water droplets, and still Kaizer stood unmoving, hands loosely folded behind his back now, as if merely supervising a child’s tantrum.

Rael roared in frustration.

From above, massive frozen lances formed, falling like meteors to crush him, not from the ground this time, but summoned from condensation in the very air!

Kaizer exhaled quietly.

A thin aura of psychic fire spread from his body in a slow ripple, unseen to the naked eye... but as the ice meteors entered the zone, they immediately burned into vapor, never even touching the ground.

From the stands, Sophia narrowed her eyes in admiration. "He’s using fire at a conceptual level. It’s not heat against cold. It’s creation against manipulation."

Lucian, sitting next to her, muttered. "He’s not fighting the ice... he’s invalidating it."

Rina crossed her arms proudly. "That’s my big bro."

Back on the battlefield, Rael staggered slightly as his breath came harder now, small crystals forming at the edges of his hairline and collar as he burned through more and more internal reserves to maintain the failing assault.

Kaizer didn’t even attack.

He simply waited, remaining patient and unbothered.

Like... like a sovereign overlooking the fall of a kingdom.

Like an... Overlord.

Rael gritted his teeth once more as he realized this and summoned a final, desperate technique of his, the Glacial Domain, a full-field suppression meant to freeze everything within thirty meters into stillness.

The arena lights dimmed as thick sheets of rime spiraled outward.

Kaizer’s eyebrows lifted slightly in mild interest, not concern.

With a small thought, the flames orbiting him compressed into a thin, translucent layer of heat just above the floor, creating an invisible thermal dome.

The expanding Glacial Domain hit the dome... and died with a pitiful sigh.

Rael’s spear clattered from his hand as he dropped to one knee, his energy spent, ice armor cracking and flaking off his body in brittle chunks.

He looked up at Kaizer — who still hadn’t thrown a single offensive move — and managed a weak, defeated chuckle.

"I thought you were just a psychic..."

Kaizer tilted his head ever so slightly.

"I am," Kaizer replied simply.

And Rael slumped forward, unconscious before he hit the ground.

DING!

Lysandra lifted her arm dramatically.

"Winner: Kaizer Lunin, The Overlord!"

The crowd was stunned into silence for a heartbeat... then erupted into raucous cheers, chants, and thunderous applause.

Another A-Class champion was dismantled, nullified, and erased without a single true attack.

Kaizer turned away from the smoking remnants of Rael’s power without a glance, his boots making no sound on the still-scorched arena floor.

From the Heir Pavilion, even Davion — clutching a glass of wine — had no choice but to narrow his eyes and mutter:

"...That cretin is growing."

Meanwhile, Kaizer returned to the Special Echelon seating, where Rina was grinning ear to ear and Roland simply raised two fingers in lazy salute.

Sophia smiled quietly to herself.

Lucian just watched, silent and watchful.
