Kaizer let the bowl fall onto the table beside him gently, eventually glancing at Rina once more.

"The story is long and quite complex, but I'll demonstrate to lend credibility to what I say next. However, I don't dare to say it here, even if this ward is void of monitoring devices. Let's head home and I will tell you all you need to know." Kaizer said firmly, turning to his father.

Keith, but this time, had a grave expression unlike his usual nerdy self. He nodded with Kaizer and walked over to press a button near the head of Rina's bed, summoning a nearby nurse on standby and letting her know that the family wished to discharge their member.

Knowing that this was a VVIP, the nurse naturally did not cause a fuss and summoned the doctor in charge who handled the rest of the procedures. In less than ten minutes, the entire family was within the Escalade, heading home at the fastest speed while they all remained eerily silent within the car, all lost in thought.

For Kaizer, he was contemplating the pros and cons of his decision. He often referred to himself as genre-savvy, which was basically nerd speak for 'I've read/played/watched a lot of fantasy fiction so if I ever appear in a fantasy situation, I'll know what to do.'

As a genre-savvy individual, he was cognizant of famous tropes in the very fiction he loved to consume, so he was also aware of one of the biggest ones, which had the worst possible reputation.

Misunderstanding/forced secrecy.

Person A (along with others sometimes) encounters an extraordinary situation and their first thought is to hide it from those closest to them, even if it would benefit their loved ones. For Kaizer, who had criticized this trope countless times, encountering a similar situation in real life left him feeling extremely amused and helpless to the machinations of fate. However, from the time he bid farewell to Anir, escaped the campus, and then came to the hospital to avoid the questioning journalists as well as law enforcement, how to resolve this matter was the sole constant in his mind.

To tell or not to tell? And if he did tell, how much to share? Just the breadcrumbs or the whole loaf?

And what would sharing this change? Would it bring unwanted consequences, or would it bring some form of benefit?

Rina had been out cold for about 3 hours, giving Kaizer ample time to sort out this issue in his mind. When Rina had awoken and began questioning the events that transpired, he had long made his decision and simply went ahead with executing it.

The reasons were actually quite simple when he boiled them down. The first of them was that he realized that keeping his family out of the loop would be more dangerous than letting them know because he had not executed those three espers who kidnapped him back then.

At the time, he was worried about Rina and was not easily willing to kill, even if he had no problem with it. It was only when he saw the blood and murder on the campus grounds that he resolutely killed those who caused it, for he no longer regarded them as human.

Not to mention that he would only be getting stronger, which might involve him in more esper-related troubles of a higher scale, and visits to the hospital like this might not be infrequent. Without knowing why, his parents might fall into a state of stress and depression, severely impacting their health.

The second reason was that it would be for his benefit if they knew because they would be able to assist him. His father was rich and had access to many useful connections, especially within Alpha City. Custom equipment Kaizer might need to train his psychic powers, as well as special channels and permissions to seek stronger power, could be easier to grasp with his father's help.

Kaizer vividly remembered reading a certain Spider-Man comic when he was young where Peter Parker finally shared his identity—unwillingly, no doubt—with his aunt and Mary Jane. The recurring theme of the Spider-Man comics was his difficulty balancing personal life with being a superhero, and the moment he shared his identity, all those problems reduced by 80%, and his superhero duties became more than three times as efficient.

He didn't want to be put under unnecessary difficulty and stress of always having to lie by coming up with a harebrained story about how he was the only survivor in a campus full of dead students slaughtered by gunmen.

The third and final reason was simply because he was unwilling to let Anir fall into the shadows. It didn't matter how she came about nor what actions she took when she first revealed herself. It even didn't matter how she felt about him personally, because all Kaizer knew was that she had been there from the start.

Since she was a part of Rina, his cousin, then she too was his cousin and family as well. She deserved to come out and spend time with her sister, her mother, and her entire family as well, rather than be pushed aside and only dragged out when she was useful.

That pretty much encapsulated his reasoning for taking this choice, but even Kaizer was not a seer. He was not sure how everyone would take these revelations and especially unsure of what kind of consequences they might lead to, but he was aware that whatever could happen by not sharing it would be worse.

Soon the car pulled up to the Lunin mansion, and the family filed into the house in silence, scaring the workers slightly. The Lunin family may not be a stereotypical, utterly benevolent family, but they were definitely some of the best employers in their wealth class, and their family interactions were amusing, to say the least.

So to see them all walk in with expressions as if they had seen a tragedy live made these workers be on tenterhooks. However, the Lunin family naturally didn't have the mind to pay attention to this as Keith led the family to his office upstairs and made sure that his various securities were implemented.

Then he sat down on his office chair while the rest of the family sat on the sofas within the room. He took off his glasses and gently rubbed the bridge of his nose as he nodded to Kaizer seriously.

"Son, you can go ahead and tell us what's happening."

Kaizer calmly did just that, omitting nothing minus the covenant made between him and Rina because that was their personal secret. He would tell Rina about it in private so they could decide on what to do with it, but their childhood secret was not for their parents to know.

He also omitted his own killings because he was not sure how his parents would take it, minus what happened with Carla, which he attributed to his sudden awakening and lack of control. However, his worry was clearly superfluous as the fact that he turned Carla into a squeezed tin can did not faze his parents.
