"I am not just in your mind. I am in their minds too. I am currently perusing the minds of 100 million mortals. So I am not singling you out to punish you."

Kelvin regained his peace of mind. He stood up and shook his head to clear his mind and reorient his swooning vision.

He resumed cutting trees. This time, everyone acknowledged his presence again and went out of the way of the tree he was cutting. It made him think about the power of a true god.

He thought to himself, "Wrath was right. A true god on the battlefield is not a good thing."

He doesn’t think that because of the stress that Aganju is causing to him. He thinks Wrath was right because of the implications of a being who can look through the minds and memories of millions of people at the same time.

He doesn’t think the elves and the Lignum world stand any chance of winning at all because of Aganju. After all, if all their memories and plans are not secret, there is no way they can avoid subjugation.

The only ones who can resist this kind of overwhelming advantage to a certain extent are the demigods. But without a god of their own, they will still lose.

He believes that everything will be alright with the expedition army as long as Aganju is the only god on the battlefield. But if the god beneath his feet wakes up, anything can happen.

He can already see it. If an enemy god appears on the battlefield, victory will become uncertain. The mortals and demigods will become chess pieces for both gods to fight with.

If Aganju dies, then the human army will also stand no chance of victory. They will become at the mercy of the god and toyed around the way Aganju is toying with him.

Now he truly understands why Wrath didn’t like that a true god was participating in the invasion. He too wouldn’t have been happy if he had known just how terrifying gods were.

He chuckled and said to himself, "If Wrath is right, I guess I won’t be ignorant for long."

He used more vigor in cutting down the trees. It is so that he can weaken the sleeping god as much as possible before it awakens.

While he was doing this, Wrath appeared.

She cursed, "Fuck him."

He had gotten what he wanted, and he didn’t want her to mess with Aganju anymore, so he quickly acted to turn her attention towards a subject he has become curious about recently.

He asked her, "How does your immortality work?"

She asked suspiciously, "Why do you ask?"

He shrugged, "I’m just curious. I want to know how you die and come back so quickly. Is it painful?"

She replied after considering his words for a while. "It is painful. But this is not my true body. It is just my shadow. So scattering it won’t kill me."

"Wow," he exclaimed. Then he said, "So Aganju can’t kill you."

She chuckled. "I’m sure he can. But he won’t because there will be dire consequences if he does."

He nodded in understanding. "I see."

"It is cool, though. Is your resurrection unique to you?"

She shook her head. "My resurrection is not unique. Every god is like me. What you see of them is not their complete form. So even if you manage to kill them, you will only be destroying a part of their existence. They will always be able to return if you don’t complete the job."

He exclaimed again, "Wow."

But then he grabbed his head in pain as Aganju spoke to correct her. "She is wrong. Only true gods are like that. False gods don’t have that kind of existence."

Wrath saw him pause and wince. She narrowed her eyes at him and asked, "Has he been talking to you?"

Kelvin thought it better to lie. So he admitted it, "Yeah. He has been messing with me and making me stumble so that he would laugh."

He decided not to lie to her only because his lie would be obvious. But he wasn’t willing to tell the whole truth.

Wrath’s eyes were still narrowed as she asked, "What did he say?"

"He said that you’re wrong. He said only true gods have that privilege, not false gods."

His reply made Wrath roll her eyes. She said, "So nitpicky."

She stopped questioning him and let him return to cutting down trees. It seemed that she had let the matter rest, but that wasn’t so. Something hidden was going on.

Aganju was standing beside Kelvin and grinning at Wrath.

Kelvin didn’t see him, but Wrath could. She didn’t tell him about the god’s presence to protect him and because she had a bone to pick with the god that she would rather Kelvin not be aware of.

She asked Aganju, "What have you been telling him?"

He continued to grin as he replied, "Nothing."

It was clearly a lie. But he didn’t care that she knew it was a lie. It made her frown.

But she was still confident as she said, "No matter what you say, it won’t work. This is not the first time that gods would try to sabotage me, and you won’t be the first god to sow poison in the minds of the paragon."

Aganju stopped grinning and sneered. He said, "Yet, here you are with a paragon that doesn’t trust you for the umpteenth time."

"I don’t think I have to do anything to sabotage you. It is inevitable once the paragon trusts you. No one in their right mind will allow a parasite like you to gain the ability to shackle them."
