Jiang Zheyu and Su Yan rode back in a self-driving Hovercar.

Inside the Hovercar, they sat facing each other.

"Yu Yu, where did you go today?" Su Yan asked, sitting across from her. His short red hair was slightly disheveled, tousled by the evening wind while he’d been searching for her. A faint, barely noticeable sheen of sweat beaded on his forehead.

He had searched all the places a female might visit, even the ones where she might look for a job, but no one had seen any sign of Jiang Zheyu.

The only reason Su Yan had found her was because Feng Qi had sent him her location.

Although Feng Qi hadn’t included a message, Su Yan knew. His Yu Yu had to be at the location Feng Qi sent.

Now, his red eyes were fixed on her, calm on the surface but hiding a surging torrent of emotion—like the placid face of the deep sea, masking turbulent currents below.

When she didn’t answer his messages, didn’t respond on her Light Brain, and seemed to have vanished completely, Su Yan had panicked. He’d realized he couldn’t accept his Yu Yu disappearing from his world. He felt like he couldn’t breathe.

"I... I went to look for a job," Jiang Zheyu stammered, pausing. Her hands rested on her knees as she lowered her head slightly. "I didn’t notice the messages on my Light Brain."

"Yu Yu, come here." Su Yan’s red eyes gazed at her steadily as he slowly extended a large, slender hand toward her.

Jiang Zheyu hesitated for a moment before reaching out.

Su Yan’s large hand enveloped her small, fair one, pulling her toward him.

In one smooth motion, Su Yan wrapped his arms around her waist and settled her onto his lap.

He then wrapped both arms tightly around her slender, supple waist and nestled his chin against her neck.

"I was so worried about you." It was as if he was confirming her warmth, reassuring himself that she was truly, physically beside him and hadn’t vanished.

Jiang Zheyu paused, then reached out to gently pat Su Yan’s broad back. She promised emphatically, "Next time, I’ll definitely watch my Light Brain! I really didn’t ignore you on purpose! I swear!"

"Mm. Hand me your Light Brain." Su Yan straightened up slightly. His hand was already on Jiang Zheyu’s wrist, his fingers closing around both the device and her, his thumb gently caressing her skin.

"Okay." Jiang Zheyu had no idea what Su Yan was up to, but she obediently slid the Light Brain from her wrist and placed it in his palm.

Su Yan performed some operations on his Light Brain and then on hers.

Then, he took her wrist again and helped her put the Light Brain back on.

"What did you just do?" Jiang Zheyu asked curiously.

Su Yan glanced at her, his hand still caressing her wrist, reluctant to let go. "It’s a constant location tracker for Beast Mates. You can see my location whenever you want, and I can see yours."

"Oh, I see." Jiang Zheyu nodded thoughtfully.

Su Yan’s red eyes were fixed on her. His other hand came to rest gently on the nape of her neck as he leaned in, his lips brushing the corner of hers.

"Yu Yu, do you have any idea how much agony I was in tonight, not being able to find you?" Su Yan’s hand slid to her waist.

"It won’t happen again." Jiang Zheyu kissed him back reassuringly, her arms wrapping around his neck.

The light kiss deepened, growing hotter, more passionate, until it was breathless...

The violent turmoil deep inside Su Yan, which he could barely suppress, finally subsided into peace.

The Hovercar came to a stop in front of the villa.

Jiang Zheyu stepped out, her clothes wrinkled and disheveled.

Su Yan followed her out, gently taking her wrist to lead her inside. "Yu Yu, I found a clerical position for you at the military affairs office. It pays a million Star Coins a month. You can give it a try. If you want to keep doing it, great. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to go. The money those families need can just be deducted from my account."

Jiang Zheyu followed him into the villa, a little surprised. "The pay is that high?"

Su Yan’s gaze was placid. "Mm."

But he was still worried that work would exhaust her. "Yu Yu, what if you don’t go? I have more than enough money. Paying for those families is not a problem."

Jiang Zheyu said haltingly, "But when we were matched, weren’t all your assets supposed to be transferred to me? How do you still have this much?"

Jiang Zheyu understood now.

Watching Jiang Zheyu’s dazed expression, Su Yan had a realization. ’His Yu Yu was a bit of a gold-digger, it seems.’

He tapped a few commands into his Light Brain, then looked down at Jiang Zheyu, his red eyes filled with an indulgent smile. "Yu Yu, check your account."

Jiang Zheyu instinctively obeyed and looked.

’Her account only had a few hundred thousand Star Coins left. What was there to see?’

But when she did look, she saw that more than just one zero had been added to her balance!

Realization dawned, and she snapped her head up to look at him. "You—you—you transferred all your military rewards to me?!"

"Mm. It was a voluntary gift," Su Yan said, patting her head.

"No, I don’t need this! I can’t use this much." Jiang Zheyu, retaining a shred of sanity, accepted only ten million and sent the rest back. "Besides, you must need money for your Mecha’s maintenance and for replacing parts."

"So, I’ll just take ten million. Consider it the portion you’re handing over to me, your Female Master," Jiang Zheyu said, looking up at Su Yan and quietly adding the clarification.

Su Yan froze for a second. Seeing the serious look in Jiang Zheyu’s eyes, he gave a helpless smile and slowly nodded.

"Su Yan, I want to see your Mecha!" Jiang Zheyu exclaimed, suddenly remembering something and looking at Su Yan with excitement.

She hugged Su Yan’s arm, her tea-colored eyes twinkling like stars. "I’ve seen it on the Star Network. It’s so cool!"
