Sharon Thorne’s voice was barely a whisper, but she was on the verge of an explosion.

But Paul Lancaster gave her an emotionless glance and said flatly, "As far as I’m concerned, you’re a celebrity, not an actor. It’s your fans’ business to like you and prop you up. I just want to make a good show. Since you chose to film multiple shows at once, my hands are tied."

Paul Lancaster was blunt, but he wasn’t stupid.

He spoke quietly enough that only Sharon Thorne could hear him.

Sharon Thorne’s face darkened, but she said nothing. She shot Chloe Sinclair a deep, inscrutable look.

When Sharon Thorne shot her a malicious glare, Chloe Sinclair wasn’t the least bit afraid. Her deep, dark eyes met the other woman’s gaze head-on.

She looked down, incredulous. A storm of shock raged within her.

Chloe didn’t look at Sharon Thorne, turning instead to look up at Gabriel.

Gabriel had a scene to shoot and needed a makeup touch-up.

Chloe sat obediently on a small stool, looking perfectly docile.

There was no internet on the mountain, so Gabriel, worried Chloe might get bored, had his assistant bring out his gaming console.

Chloe was a little surprised when she saw the familiar model.

’This console was Gabriel’s absolute favorite in her past life. He never let anyone else touch it.’

"My makeup will take a while. You can play some games to pass the time."

Chloe nodded but didn’t touch the console in her lap.

Chloe wasn’t bored, though. She picked up Gabriel’s script and began to flip through it.

Thinking of Sharon Thorne, she asked, feigning casualness, "Was that the female lead who was filming multiple shows at once?"

"Yeah." Gabriel snorted, clearly disdainful of the actress who had held up the entire production. "This is a special project for this year, a topic assigned by the higher-ups. It has great resources, but the target audience isn’t the youth market. Still, if it gains mainstream traction, it’s guaranteed to be a massive hit. The most important factor, though, is that the pay is very low. Shar—" He caught himself. "She wasn’t happy with the salary, so a few months into filming, she signed on with another production."

That kind of behavior—filming multiple shows at once—is common in the entertainment industry.

Most other directors would have just turned a blind eye.

Unfortunately for her, Sharon Thorne had gotten her big break from a single web series. To put it generously, she had a certain ’spark’ and became an overnight sensation.

She was arrogant and not at all humble.

She was always pulling petty tricks, but unfortunately, she wasn’t very bright.

Chloe took a moment to process everything. Now she understood why Sharon Thorne had been glaring at her earlier.

Chloe’s fingers itched to take out her phone and snap a few pictures.

But she remembered that taking photos on set was often forbidden, so she resisted the urge.

She watched Gabriel strike several poses for her and praised him earnestly, "You look good in anything, Gabriel."
