Yvonne was guilt-ridden. Initially, she wanted to tease Janice but Janice discovered her big secret unexpectedly.

"After all, I am a doctor. I know about it even if I haven’t experienced it, okay? In my opinion, even if it hurts for the first time, you should enjoy it because it’s your first time. It should be unforgettable."

On the way out of the hospital, Janice was thinking about what Yvonne had said.

Indeed, the experience would be unforgettable because it was her first time. So, should she take the medicine?

"Forget it. I’d better not think about it."

She reached home. It was still early so she went to take a shower. Christopher returned home when she just got out of the bathroom. He was surprised to see her all ready to leave. He said, "You got home early."

Janice paused for a moment and replied, "Oh, we haven’t started recording the show yet, so I have time."

Christopher didn’t continue the conversation. He returned to his room to change his clothes. Then he came out and said, "Let’s go. Your grandfather is waiting for us."

Janice nodded and trailed behind him.

On the way there, Christopher grasped the steering wheel and was driving seriously. He noticed that Janice was quiet so he asked, "What happened? You’re quiet today."

Janice glanced at him and asked, "Really?"

Christopher stared at her face and narrowed his eyes. "Is there anything that is troubling you?"

Janice was debating whether she should ask him about the reporters’ license.

In fact, she could guess the reason even if she didn’t ask him.

After all, she had never met Nathan Bateman.

But if that was the case, why would he revoke her reporters’ license?

There was only one answer behind this. That was because she was with Christopher.

She thought about it and shook her head. "Nothing. Maybe I didn’t sleep well last

night."

Christopher heard her and stopped asking. "You can rest for a while. I’ll wake you up when we arrive."

Janice nodded. She leaned against the back of her chair and close her eyes under Christopher’s gaze.

Not long after, they reached Old Mr. Allson’s house.

Christopher unfastened his seat belt and was about to wake Janice before he saw that she was already awake.

"You didn’t sleep?" He asked.

Janice replied, "I didn’t sleep very deeply. Let’s go inside. We’re expected." The two held hands and walked into the house.

Old Mr. Allson was waiting for them. He was overjoyed when he saw Janice. "Come, Janice. Let me have a good look at you. Did Chris bully you?"

Old Mr. Allson was gushing at Janice and asked her in concern. He ignored Christopher, who was right beside Janice.

Christopher was dumbfounded.

Janice was embarrassed by Old Mr. Allson’s question.

She said, "Grandpa, Christopher treats me well. He didn’t bully me." Old Mr. Allson seemed relieved.

"That’s good. Come on, let’s go inside. I’ve gotten someone to prepare a wonderful spread for us."

Old Mr. Allson dragged Janice and they went inside.

Christopher was neglected and left behind. He grimaced and thought, "I must have been his fake grandson."

Old Mr. Allson brought Janice to the dining table and said, "Janice, take a seat."

Janice sat down on the dining table under Old Mr. Allson’s request. She glanced at the table full of food in front of her and thought, "Isn’t this too much?"

The table was full of food, as though there was a banquet.

"Grandpa, why did you prepare so much food?" Janice asked incredulously.

Before Old Mr. Allson could speak, Nanny Daisy quickly said, "This morning, Mr. Allson asked me to buy these when he heard that both of you were coming. He said these are for his granddaughter-in-law. He would only eat sandwiches when he’s alone."

Old Mr. Allson rolled his eyes at Nanny Daisy after she finished. She quickly stepped aside quietly.

Old Mr. Allson then said.

"Don’t listen to her nonsense. Come on, eat up. It won’t taste good if it gets cold."

As he spoke, he scooped up some food and place them on Janice’s plate.

Janice glanced at the food on her plate. She was touched yet guilt-stricken at the same time.

She believed what Nanny Daisy had just said.

The first time she saw Old Mr. Allson, she thought he looked very lonely and needed someone to keep him company.

But what did she do all this while?

Old Mr. Allson was so kind to her, but she had never bothered to make time for him.

Thinking of this, she said, "Grandpa, if you don’t mind, I’ll come here more often for meals in the future."

Old Mr. Allson broke into a smile after he heard her. "That’s great. I’ll ask Nanny Daisy to prepare more food then."

Janice nodded, but she didn’t notice Christopher who was gazing at her intently.

"Come and taste this. This is air-flown today morning. It’s very fresh."

Old Mr. Allson kept serving food for Janice all this while.

Janice felt a little embarrassed, so she also served some food for Old Mr. Allson.

"Thank you, Grandpa. Please eat."

The atmosphere was happy and harmonious during dinner.

On the other hand, Christopher was sitting aside and felt neglected.

He realized that Janice did not speak to him at all during the dinner. She never even looked at him. He felt confused and took the initiative to start a conversation.

"By the way, grandpa, it’s your birthday next month. How are you planning to celebrate your birthday?" Christopher asked.

Old Mr. Allson paused and pondered. "I’m just a wrinkly old man. What’s there to

celebrate? But..."

Christopher frowned when he heard his grandpa.

"How could you say that? You only get to celebrate birthdays once a year. How could we not celebrate it?"

"Yes, Grandpa. We were even thinking of throwing you a birthday party."

Janice chimed in.

Old Mr. Allson contemplated briefly.

"How about this? Janice, you decide. You can do whatever you want."

Janice was puzzled. "Grandpa, it’s your birthday. You should call the shots."

After listening to Janice, Old Mr. Allson glanced at Janice and Christopher. Then he exclaimed.

"Well, it is my birthday, so I have the final say. You should give me a great -grandson or a great-granddaughter as soon as possible. That’s better than throwing me any party!"

Both of them fell silent.

Especially Janice. She lowered her head silently and folded her hands tightly under the table, not knowing what to say.

Christopher could tell that she was embarrassed. He stretched his hand out to hold her hands and changed the topic. "Grandpa, we’re discussing your birthday. Why are you talking about us again?"

Old Mr. Allson didn’t notice Janice’s expression and scolded, "How dare you say that? I don’t need to ask you if you know."

After saying that, Old Mr. Allson noticed Janice’s awkward expression, so he stopped.

He glanced at Janice, who was sitting on the other side of the table with her head down.

"Did I say something wrong?" He thought in his mind.

"Young people nowadays didn’t seem to like having children too early." He thought.

"That’s right. How can I forget that? Ah, I’m out of touch!" He thought.

So he quickly continued with a smile, "Janice, I didn’t mean to urge you to have a baby. Don’t misunderstand. I’m just making casual conversation. Don’t mind me."

Janice was guilt-stricken after she heard him. She was afraid that he would discover her secret so she quickly explained, " It’s okay, grandpa. I..."

She was anxious to explain herself, but she didn’t know what to say. For a moment, words were stuck in her throat.

"But what?"

Old Mr. Allson was a little confused.

Christopher quickly chimed in to help her out. "Janice is trying to say that we’re still young. We still have a lot of time in the future."

As he spoke, he clenched his fists tightly under the table.

Janice glanced at him knowingly and nodded.

On their way home, Christopher drove while Janice sat in the passenger seat.

The atmosphere was tense, to say the least.

Christopher broke the silence. "Don’t take my grandpa’s words to heart."

Janice nodded and remained silent.

Christopher stared at Janice and felt that she seemed to be hiding something from him.

She was quiet when they were driving to his grandpa’s house.

When they arrived there, she didn’t pay any attention to him and she kept chatting with his grandfather instead.

The more he thought about it, the more he thought it was bizarre. He stopped the car by the road and questioned Janice. "Janice, tell me honestly. Are you hiding something from me?"

Janice was silent after she heard him. Then, she shook her head. "No." Christopher didn’t believe her. Knitting his brows, he continued.

"Janice, we’re a couple. The most important thing between husband and wife is mutual trust. You can tell me anything."

Janice understood the meaning behind his words. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust Christopher, but rather, she didn’t know how to ask him.

She was afraid of hearing the real answer.

But if she kept it in her heart, she would feel very uncomfortable whenever she saw

Christopher.

It was like a cycle.

She sighed and asked, "Christopher, why didn’t you tell me that your father was the one who revoked my reporters’ license?"

Christopher was stunned. He didn’t expect Janice to find out about it. After all, he had already told Rob to stop the rumors.

"You found out."

Janice nodded.

Christopher winded down the car window. He lit up a cigarette and said, "I was afraid that you’d misunderstand things."

Janice looked at him in confusion.

Janice contemplated for a while and shook her head. When an accident happened in Delta, she had a look at the files regarding Delta but she didn’t find anything related to Bateman Group.

Could it be that she had missed something?

Thinking of this, she wondered.

"Was Delta related to the Bateman Group?"

Christopher nodded. "Delta may seem like an independent company in the eyes of the outside world, but in reality, it’s a subsidiary of the Bateman Group. However, the Bateman Group concealed this information so it’s not widely known."

Janice finally understood after she heard him.

No wonder she couldn’t find the information. The Bateman Group was concealing the truth.

In other words, Delta was a subsidiary of the Bateman Group. And she had stirred up the matter in Delta without knowing it.

But she didn’t understand why Nathan would treat her like that. She didn’t make anything up. What she had reported was the truth.

Why should she be treated like that?
