"Really? I literally had to drag him here and it was not an easy task." James complained on the other end of the line. Janice paused for a moment, then said.

"See if he has the key on him."

"I wouldn’t be calling you if he did."

Janice was speechless.

She didn’t have any other great ideas either.

"Then you’ll have to figure it out."

She hung up the phone.

"Hello..."

James was about to ask her to come back quickly when she hung up.

He was perplexed.

Not only was this woman not home at night, but she also didn’t seem bothered that her husband was drunk.

Someone must be blind. Chris had doted on her so much.

"Chris, your wife is not home. Where is the key?"

She ignored him, knowing how much of a flirt he was and continued what she wanted to say, "I would like to give the private hospital you mentioned a try."

"Good, I’ll tell the director in advance."

James said.

When she heard this, Yvonne hurriedly stopped him.

"No, I need to get it on my own merit. I just called you to let you know. Don’t meddle in it."

James frowned.

"Ok, by the way, do you know where your best friend, Janice, is?"

"Why are you looking for her?"

Yvonne asked with caution.

James could tell from her tone that she was wary, and it surprised him.

"Why are you so nervous? I am not looking to bother her or anything. Chris is drunk and there is no one home."

"She’s not there. Don’t bother."

"Then where is she?"

"I don’t know."

After that, Yvonne hung up.

Hearing the beep from the other side, James was even more frustrated. He glanced at Chris, who was lying in the back seat, shook his head helplessly, then drove him to a hotel.

Janice thought that she could just leave him to his devices and stop thinking about him.

But she tossed and turned all night and couldn’t fall asleep.

Chris did not speak, but turned around and walked back into the room.

"Why am I in a hotel?"

James followed him.

"I sent you home, but you couldn’t tell me where you had kept your house key."

Chris paused for a moment. Just as he was about to say that there was someone at home, he remembered that Janice had moved out, so he stopped.

"What’s going on between you and your wife?" James was curious.

"Nothing."

Chris said with a frown.

James said, "Are you sure? Anyway, Chris, take it easy. Don’t do anything rash."

This irritated Chris. He glared at James, then walked into the bathroom and closed the door, isolating himself from James. He didn’t like nosey people.

Chris went home from the hotel. The moment he opened the door, a memory replayed in his mind.

"Darling, you’re back."

"It’s time for breakfast."

"What do you want to eat? I’ll cook it for you."

Scenes resurfaced one after the other in his mind. In the past, he hadn’t cared and had even complained about boring she was.

Now, faced with an empty house, he realized how heartwarming it was. All he wanted now was to see her, even if they wouldn’t speak.

The thought made him feel worthless.

He said to Daniel as soon as he arrived.

The club was not open during the day. The workers were not yet in and there was no

one to make him ginger tea...

Daniel looked frustrated.

"Did you drink again last night?"

"Yup."

Chris nodded.

When Daniel saw he was gloomy, he frowned.

"I don’t have any tea, but I do have medication to help with the hangover. Do you want it?"

Chris was in a bad mood. He stretched out his hand and said, "Give it to me." As long as it could cure his damned headache.

Daniel got up and went to the medicine box to find the pill. He gave it to him with a glass of water.

"There’s something up with you recently."

Chris took the medicine with water. It tasted bitter.

"She left just like that."

He put down the glass.

"Who?"

Daniel was puzzled.

Chris did not say a word.

Daniel thought for a bit, then realized who he was referring to.

"Did you guys have an argument?"

Chris thought to himself, "If only we had, then at least I would apologize and sweet talk her. She just up and left and didn’t even give me any chance at all."

She no longer picks up the calls.

Daniel said, "No matter what, don’t let her move out. Once you are separated for too long, it’s easy for the relationship to fade. Try to cajole her back."

After leaving the club, Chris kept thinking about what Daniel said.

"Are you kidding me? How am I supposed to pacify her?"
