Yvonne replied, "Alright, now tell me why you need so much money."

"Okay, I’ll tell you later."

After sending the message to Yvonne, Janice quickly went to the counter to pay the bill. Then she waited for the sales assistant to pack the tie before leaving the store.

She glanced at the receipt and felt a sudden relief.

Based on the amount on the receipt, her tie worthen more than the tie clip Sophie had gifted Christopher.

She won after all.

With that thought in mind, Janice’s heart was filled with joy.

But on second thought, why did she have to compare herself to Sophie? "I must have been crazy!"

Janice returned to the car with her tie and her phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Yvonne.

"Janice, you still haven’t told me, why do you need so much money?"

Janice replied, "I used it to buy a tie."

"A tie?" Yvonne frowned. "Are you sure?"

"Yes, it’s for my husband."

Janice laughed.

Yvonne was speechless for a while.

"Janice, are you alright? I thought you were never materialistic. What changed?" Janice didn’t know why she insisted on buying this necktie either.

Based on her shopping habits, she would never buy anything that was beyond her spending ability.

But this time, she borrowed money from Yvonne just to buy the tie. It was unprecedented.

But despite that, she was happy.

Janice said, "I just think it suits my husband very well."

"Fine, you win!" Yvonne replied with a vomit emoji.

Janice knew her actions were unreasonable, but this wasn’t a big deal. You only live once after all.

Plus, she had a job and she could pay it back later.

She assured, "Don’t worry, Yvonne. I’ll repay you as soon as possible."

Yvonne replied, "It’s alright, I’m not in a hurry. As long as you’re happy."

Janice hid the gift as soon as she returned home. She planned to give Christopher a surprise.

So she hid the gift box in a corner inside the cabinet. Then, she went to the bathroom to take a shower.

Christopher had yet to return after she finished showering.

She frowned. "Why is he so late tonight?"

She took her mobile phone and was about to call Christopher, then she realized that she had a few missed calls from Director Caleb.

After a brief pondering, Janice decided to return the call. "Janice, how was the conversation with Miss Valen yesterday?"

Only then did Janice recall this matter. She replied, "Director Caleb, I think it’s better if we don’t do it. After all, the man was married. If we don’t handle subtly, there might be a lot of criticism if something goes wrong."

Christopher stared at her. "Were you waiting for me?"

Janice nodded. "I have something for you."

She said with a smile.

Christopher stared at her intently. Janice was obviously in a good mood. "Oh? What is it?"

Janice blinked. "Close your eyes. Don’t peek."

Christopher furrowed his brows. "What is it? Why is she acting so mysteriously?"

He asked, "What are you trying to do?"

Janice dismissed him, "Just close your eyes and listen to me."

As she spoke, she took the initiative to cover his eyes.

Christopher relented, "Okay, I won’t peek."

As he spoke, he slowly closed his eyes.

Then, Janice moved her hand away and walked towards the cabinet. However, she turned around with each step, afraid that he would peek at her. She retrieve the gift from the cabinet and placed it in front of him.

Then, she said, "Now, you can open your eyes."

Christopher slowly opened his eyes after he heard her. When he saw the gift box, he frowned and asked, "What is this?"

Janice replied, "It’s a gift. I promised you last night to make up for it." She handed the gift over.

Christopher didn’t expect that Janice would really buy a gift for him. He only said that casually. He took it and opened it to have a look. "Did you buy it?"

Janice nodded. "This time, it’s really for you."

She said with a smile.

Christopher curled his lips when he heard her. Then, he removed the paper bag and took the gift box. As expected, it was a tie. He said, "Tie it for me."

"It’s late at night," Janice grumbled.

"Tie it for me," Christopher insisted.

Janice relented. She shook her head and sighed when she saw his eagerness. He was acting like a child. She helped arrange it around his neck.

Christopher stood in front of the mirror and looked at himself again and again. He

thought to himself, "This time, it’s not my wishful thinking. It’s really a gift from my wife."

When Janice wasn’t paying attention, he secretly took a photo and posted it on his Instagram.

As soon as he posted, there was a stir among his friends.

On the other side, Cecilia quickly forwarded the post to Sophie when she saw it. "Sophie, look. I saw this on Mr. Bateman’s Instagram."

Sophie was sitting in front of the dressing table and was applying her skincare. She bit her lip when she saw the post.

She knew Christopher’s character best. He would never show affection publicly.

But now, he showed off affection on Instagram publicly just because of a tie.

Sophie said, "Janice, I’ve just received a call from the producers of that show. They hoped that I can join it. What do you think? Do you think that I join the show too?"

Janice was surprised. "Is that so? I don’t know. What do you mean? If you don’t want to join the show, I can help you to reject it."

Sophie tried to stop her. "No, no. I’ve thought about it for a long time. I think I should pluck up the courage to join the show. It doesn’t matter even if I fail in the end. At least I will have tried."

Janice didn’t know what to say after she heard Sophie.

Christopher appeared in front of Janice as soon as she hung up. She was startled by his sudden appearance. "When... when did you come out?"

Janice replied, "No one. Um... it’s getting late. Go and rest."

Just as she was about to leave the bedroom, Christopher held her arm. Then, he gently embraced her.

He whispered in her ear.

Janice was glad to hear that. She thought to herself, "It’s good that you like it. Otherwise, it would be a waste since I borrowed so much money to buy it."

Then, she turned around and freed herself from his embrace. She ran towards the bedroom.

Christopher, however, caught up with her with a chuckle.

Not long after, giggles and chuckles could be heard from the bedroom.

They indulged in passion all night long.

The next morning, Janice drove to the TV station.

As soon as she entered the office, she was called to the conference room by Director Caleb.

"Janice, Miss Valen has agreed to join the show."

Janice nodded. "Yeah, I know."

"That’s good. She will come over later to join us for a discussion. I have something to do so I can’t welcome her later. Since you know her, can you help me to show her around later?"

Janice nodded. "Alright."

Director Caleb left after that.

Janice glanced at her watch. There was still some time before she needed to meet Sophie. She got up and went to the pantry to make two cups of coffee. Sophie arrived as soon as she placed the coffees on the table.

"Janice."

"Hi, Sophie. Take a seat. The script writer and the director will be here soon."
