The idea of lust overwhelming logic is hard to apply to the invariably calm and composed Shang Hexing.

But once it did, the scene would inevitably spiral out of control.

Under Wen Zhi’s sweet nothings, Shang Hexing went along with everything, complying with all her wishes.

By the time he realized something was amiss, his wrist had already been bound by Wen Zhi with a zip tie.

"Wen Zhi..." In the pitch darkness, his breathing was heavy, "Stop messing around, it could lead to trouble."

Wen Zhi rested her head on his firm chest and asked with a teasing smile, "What kind of trouble could it lead to?"

Shang Hexing coaxed her, "Turn on the light first."

"No," Wen Zhi said, "I like it pitch-black; it’s more thrilling."

With that, Shang Hexing’s arms, which were trapped, suddenly reached behind her neck, trapping her within his embrace as he asked hoarsely, "What on earth are you trying to do?"

Wen Zhi’s neck became immobile in an instant, and she chuckled sheepishly, "Of course, I’m trying to treat you well, as today is your first visit to the Wen Family."

Shang Hexing said, "Is this your way of treating someone?"

Wen Zhi asked, "Don’t you like it?"

Shang Hexing said, "Shouldn’t dinner come first?"

Wen Zhi’s voice was light and feathery, "Would eating me be okay?"

"Don’t eat," he said.

At this time, it wasn’t that Shang Hexing was being unromantic; he had sensed something was off when his hands were bound.

The person on top of him was up to no good.

If it had been a rope, he might not have been so alert at this particular moment, but it was a zip tie that she used.

Tsk, tied so tightly.

"You always say I don’t respond to you, but now that I’ve taken the initiative for once and presented myself to you, not eating makes me feel very disappointed, deflated, and helpless..." Wen Zhi’s voice trailed into a sob.

Shang Hexing knew she was acting but still couldn’t bear to hear even a hint of grievance in her tone, so he played along, "I’ll eat."

The sobbing in Wen Zhi’s voice ceased, and she turned cheery, casually running a fingertip across his Adam’s apple as she asked, "How would you like to eat?"

Shang Hexing chuckled lightly, "With cream."

Wen Zhi listed, "There’s strawberry sauce, cream sauce, which would you prefer?"

"Cream," he replied.

The two of them went back and forth, as if they were genuinely discussing a delicious meal.

In reality, each harbored their own schemes.

Shang Hexing tried to use a finesse to break free from the zip tie on his wrist. Wen Zhi, meanwhile, attempted to tie Shang Hexing’s arms to the bedpost with another zip tie.

It had started with lust clouding judgment, but once Shang Hexing became aware of Wen Zhi’s actions, he immediately rolled with her in one swift motion, ending up with both of them tumbling to the floor.

Shang Hexing was still on the bottom.

He was always able to precisely control the balance.

Fortunately, there was a carpet on the floor, but the thudding sound was loud, and Shang Hexing was worried about whether Wen Zhi’s injured hand had been bent, "Does it hurt anywhere?"

Wen Zhi said, "My hand really hurts."

Since Shang Hexing’s hands were tied, it was inconvenient for him to check, so he said, "Don’t move, I’ll turn on the light."

The crude and comical binding left no face for Shang Hexing, but Wen Zhi had no other choice; as long as he was tied up, it was a success!

"Wen Zhi!" Knowing he had been fooled by her again, Shang Hexing sounded somewhat resigned.

Wen Zhi, having achieved her goal, sat by his legs and sighed, "It wasn’t easy."

Her difficult tone made Shang Hexing unable to suppress a chuckle, "So you were already awake, and all this was prepared especially for me?"

"Of course." Wen Zhi finished answering and then asked, "You waited for so long and got teased by me as soon as you came up, aren’t you angry?"

"Angry," he said

Curious, Wen Zhi asked, "Then why didn’t you lose your temper?"

Shang Hexing countered, "Does being angry necessarily mean losing one’s temper?"

Wen Zhi understood; this man never showed his feelings openly, and it had always been that way, even if he was angry, it didn’t show.

But it was better for him to be angry! Now it was his turn to experience the taste of being teased!

The atmosphere quieted down for a moment.

Until suddenly, the light inside the room turned on.

When you keep your eyes open in the dark for too long, the abrupt light can be somewhat blinding.

Shang Hexing tilted his head slightly and shielded his eyes from the light. After a few seconds, he slowly looked up, his gaze falling on Wen Zhi, who was leaning against the wall.

The high slit of her black long dress, her fair slender legs carelessly strewn, was seductive and soul-snatching, especially with her lazy curls spilled behind her, her makeup exquisite, stunningly beautiful.

Wen Zhi narrowed her eyes with a smile, looking like a proud little fox who had just been up to mischief, "Mr. Shang, are you surprised?"

Shang Hexing laughed bitterly, his tongue touching his cheek, "So after all this, it was for this act."

It was the first time Wen Zhi saw Shang Hexing with such a lazy expression, especially now as he sat on the ground, bending one leg, his shirt collar somewhat disheveled, his hair slightly tousled, imbuing him with a more unrestrained wildness compared to his usual mature steadiness.

Though such ties could be easily broken with a knife or fire, without those two things, it was nearly impossible to get out of them if your hands and feet were bound.

"But what?" Wen Zhi asked, furrowing her brows.

Shang Hexing said, "Too tight."

Wen Zhi looked at his bound hands, knowing full well how tight she had tied them, and so she said, "Endure it."

Shang Hexing added, "It’s chafing."

"Really?" Wen Zhi asked, looking worried.

Shang Hexing nodded, "Don’t believe me? Come and see."

Come and see?

Liar!

She almost fell for it again!

This time Wen Zhi quickly caught on, lifting her chin with a huff, "Just a bit of chafing, not like a whole layer of skin, endure it."

Shang Hexing switched legs and heaved a light sigh, looking down as he spoke, "So it seems I’m not that important to you, it has always been just me giving one-sidedly."

Wen Zhi’s face changed slightly, she hurriedly explained, "You are important."

From an angle Wen Zhi couldn’t see, Shang Hexing lowered his head, the corner of his mouth curling into a smile.

Seeing no response from him, Wen Zhi continued to explain, "I do care about you, otherwise I wouldn’t have gone through so much trouble to stage this whole act, wasting time, effort, and energy."

Suddenly Shang Hexing looked up, "So there was indeed a purpose."

Wen Zhi was taken aback, then fell silent.

Now that the conversation had reached this point, some things had to be laid out and clarified sooner or later. This was the most appropriate opportunity, Shang Hexing spoke, "Go ahead and ask, I will answer everything."

Wen Zhi glanced at him, remaining silent.

She walked towards him, the slit of her dress high, taking slow steps, her bare legs flashing before his eyes.
