Finally, the sound of footsteps descending the stairs came from across the lobby.

After that, Fang Rong led Shang Hexing upstairs.

But she only took Shang Hexing to the upper floor without specifying which room was Wen Zhi’s bedroom. Using another matter as an excuse, she turned and went back downstairs.

Watching the maidservant hurry back down, a flicker of something different passed through Shang Hexing’s eyes but quickly vanished.

He didn’t linger there; instead, he moved forward.

There weren’t many rooms upstairs, totaling only four, but there were two more around the corner.

As he passed by one of the rooms, Shang Hexing paused slightly, his gaze resting on the sticker on the door. With a flicker of thought, he stepped forward and knocked.

Knock knock—

His hand paused.

Suddenly, he found the door ajar; after knocking twice, it opened slightly on its own.

Shang Hexing pushed the door and entered.

The bedroom was dark, with no lights on, and the interior structure and furnishings were indistinguishable in the pitch darkness.

He pressed the light switch, and the whole bedroom brightened up.

A very pretty French carved bed, all the furnishings were warm and sweet in style, and the faint scent of lily of the valley pervaded the entire bedroom...

As Shang Hexing walked forward, he suddenly stepped on something, even though the pressure wasn’t very noticeable.

Wen Zhi still didn’t respond to him; she was all too familiar with the bedroom where she had lived for many years and moved to Shang Hexing’s side in the dark.

He seemed to sense her approach and reached out to touch her.

Wen Zhi, with her keen senses, quickly dodged, turning the interaction into a game of hide-and-seek.

Soon, however, Shang Hexing caught hold of one of her arms. Knowing she couldn’t escape, she went with the flow and pushed him back towards the bed not far behind them.

Accompanied by the heavy thump of the bed, they both collapsed into it.

Shang Hexing was on the bottom, with Wen Zhi on top of him, his nose filled with a faint fragrance, and the soft bed underneath provoked his nerves incessantly.

In the darkness, he protected her lower back with his arm and slowly spoke, "Is this the welcome gift you’re giving me on my first visit to the Wen Family’s home?"

Wen Zhi asked with a smile, "Do you like it?"

Her voice was soft and sweet, especially when she deliberately spoke slowly, carrying the charm of a gentle dialect, easily stirring someone’s heartstrings.

Wen Zhi moved her hand away and slowly reached toward the pillow beside them, "Does it smell good?"

"What?" he asked.

Wen Zhi said, "Do I smell good?"

There was a five-second silence before Shang Hexing’s voice came low and slightly husky, "Very good."

Wen Zhi’s lips drew close to his ear, "Let me tell you a secret. Before you came up, I made myself up specially to give you a surprise."

Shang Hexing didn’t respond, but Wen Zhi could hear his increasingly heavy breathing.

Her laugh was as pleasant as the ringing of bells, "Do you want to see it?"
