Chef in the Apocalypse

Jayce breathed out a sigh of relief after activating the formation disk within his hands. His insides were screaming at him with pain after eating the constant palms from Baran.

He wasn’t sure what kind of technique the palm was, but he had a feeling it had something to do with vibration attacks. That was the only way Jayce could explain how the attacks were able to penetrate his defenses so easily.

Thankfully, he had bought some time now that the formation disk had activated. If it had taken any longer, his insides would have been turned to mush by the relentless palms.

The formation disk was something he received in the spatial ring. It had taken nearly a full 3 months of researching the Formation Array manuals to find out how to activate it.

Even then, they decided to be cautious just in case someone was to be trapped inside. It wasn’t until last month that Jayce and the others had a chance to see what it was capable of.

Therefore he knew more than anyone what kind of power this small disk provided. As long as the person trapped inside was not a fully fledged formation master, or in the Nascent Soul realm, they would be unable to break out for at least a full 24 hours.

However, Jayce was not so brazen as to believe Baran did not have any tricks up his sleeves. After all, he was a completely foreign entity who he had no information on whatsoever.

It could be quite possible that Baran was familiar with this kind of formation, or perhaps even be a Formation Master himself. Therefore Jayce had set himself a limit of 1 hour in order to recover his state as much as possible.

On the ground, things had begun to decline for the invading army. With Zane’s pinpoint assassinations, the aliens’ stronger soldiers were being picked off one by one.

Although they knew what he was doing, there wasn’t a damn thing that they could do to prevent it. Even though the human’s arrow formation had long been abandoned, the damage had already been done.

Out of the 2,000 plus soldiers that had come to Earth, there were less than 500 remaining, most of which were just regular army members.

With the guerrilla tactics of Zane and his company, the arrow formations and the ranged attacks from the remaining soldiers, the human army had done well to whittle down the numbers of their enemies whilst limiting their own casualties.

The human army’s morale was sky high as they continued to engage the alien army. The other supporters also joined the fray after Colin and Heath could no longer keep up their formation.

Victor in particular was a killing machine. He was the strongest human behind Jayce and it showed. Wherever he slashed his sword, blood would appear, painting a reddish hue upon the battlefield.

He was so lethal that he hardly left any enemies for his 200 men who were trailing behind him. They were tasked with dealing with the occasional enemy that he let through out of convenience.

However, although the Human Army was in a great position, things didn’t always go as planned in war.

Unbeknownst to those fighting upon the ground, the mass of clouds once again began to flash with brilliant colors. Sparks of blue, black and red filled the air in the surroundings, charging up the atmosphere.

It was then that a figure clad in a black body suit slowly descended. At one glance it could be seen that this figure was not of the same race as the prior invaders. While the body looked humanoid, there were some differences.

Instead of two arms, this figure had four, each as muscular as the other. The face still looked human, however the head was bald with two horns growing from either side of its temples.

This paired with the purple skin and four arms gave the being a fierce and exotic look. However, looks aside, one could tell instantly that this figure was strong. The fact that he was not floating towards the ground indicated he was able to fly and thus in the Core Formation realm at the very least.

Without uttering a word, his eyes scanned the surroundings, noticing a pocket of space that seemed to be distorted. A frown formed on his face as he recognized the fluctuations of a formation.

Moving on, his gaze traveled to the ground where the battle with the invaders against the indigenousness humans were taking place. His frown deepened upon seeing the state that the army was in, letting out a harrumph.

With no warning, he quickly descended towards the Earth at miraculous speed, his eyes locked onto Victor who seemed to be doing the most damage.

Victor, who was in the middle of slaughtering to his hearts content, suddenly felt a shiver run down his spine. Out of instinct, he rolled to the side.

BOOM!

A loud boom rang out over the battlefield, sending dirt and bodies flying into the air. The armies who had been embroiled in a life or death fight were suddenly sent into a confused state.

After dodging to the side, Victor felt a sense of danger fill his body. As the dust began to clear, he started to make out a figure within. He wasn’t sure who or what was there, but he knew that the figure was strong.

Now that the battle had halted, everyone stood around waiting for the dust to settle.

Soon enough, the figure appeared in a tight black battle suit which wrapped around its bulging muscles tightly. While those in the Human Army were filled with trepidation, a loud cheer rose up from the enemies.

"YEAAAAH!"

The remaining 400 enemies cried out with relief and joy as if their savior had arrived to deliver them from the precipice of defeat.

Victor’s eyes narrowed as he gazed upon the alien that had just arrived. The four arms paired with the horns made it look like as if the figure had just descended from Hell.

Colin and the others couldn’t help but suck in a cold breath of air. Judging from the aura of the newly arrived being, it was obvious that he was stronger than all of them.

Yet the purple horned fellow did not even look at them, fixing his gaze directly on Victor. It was as if Victor was the only person who was worthy of his attention.

He spoke out in an alien language, his voice was deep and resonated over the now silent battlefield. However, before he finished he suddenly realized something.

"Ahem. I guess you worms wouldn’t understand our language." He said, shaking his head.

"You there, human. I can sense that you have decent potential, become my disciple."

The words sent a shock up the spines of everyone in the vicinity. The Humans did not expect such a line from the enemy, while the alien army were shocked for a completely different reason.

"Isn’t that Garu the disciple of the great Shakar? Wouldn’t that make the human his grand disciple?" One of the invaders whispered to one of his peers, yet because of the silence, it was easily heard by everyone in the vicinity.

He quickly looked at the purple skinned being with fear, hoping that he wouldn’t be punished for speaking aloud. However, Garu stood tall, as if he was proud of the words that were spoken.

Victor seemed to be as confused as the rest. For what reason was he singled out? Could his talent be so great that the enemy was willing to stop an ongoing battle to take him as a disciple?

He actually found the whole situation to be kind of funny, so funny that he couldn’t stop himself from shaking his head and letting out a chuckle.

"What makes you think that I’d want to become your disciple?" Victor asked, his gaze locked onto the exotic being.

Garu frowned in response, not liking the tone of the puny human. He had made the offer after observing the strong foundation and potential that the human had possessed. While it was not the best he had seen, Garu believed that he could shape him into a powerful warrior under him.

"It seems to me that you’ve taken my good intentions for a joke. You have two choices in front of you: Become my disciple, or die with the rest of these Humans."

Garu’s four arms that were crossed in front of his chest began to tense, as if he was waiting for the humans answer.

Victor felt his hand quiver at those domineering words, yet he could also feel a tingle of excitement within his body. There was a deep fighting spirit within him that was threatening to burst out.

"HAHA!"

He clenched his fist before throwing his head back in laughter, things were going to get exciting.

"How about I choose the third option?" He responded, visible excitement in his eyes.
