Chef in the Apocalypse

As Jayce continued to struggle with the cross slash sent from the figure in the sky, everyone else saw the actions of the enemy who had thrown down many more attacks. Colin and Heath quickly exchanged glances before rushing forward without a word.

They were both cultivating the Divine Body Arts, therefore they were probably the only ones who would be able to hold off the attacks apart from Jayce. Everyone else could only watch on grimly as the fight took place in the air.

"Jayce! Leave the first attack to us!" Colin yelled out, in full sprint towards his descending figure.

"MOVE YOU IDIOTS!" Heath screamed out, seeing that the army was merely standing underneath the oncoming attack.

Hearing the harsh words, they didn’t dare to lag behind, spreading out in all directions.

Whether it was due to their blind faith in Jayce, or the fact that they could not feel the tremendous power behind the attacks, the army did not move initially. However, Colin and Heath both knew Jayce’s strength enough to understand the severity of the situation.

If Jayce was struggling to deal with the attack, then the army below him would be obliterated in one fell swoop if it landed.

Jayce heard Colin and Heath’s voice booming out and was inwardly thankful of their help. He locked eyes with them before shrugging off the attack and moving towards the next set of slashes that the figure had sent raining down towards him.

Colin and Heath made it to the attack just before it touched the ground, managing to put their strong bodies in its path. Instantly they felt the extreme power behind the attack, pushing down on them like the weight of a planet.

The second wave of attacks came down towards the now bare chested Jayce, yet this time he seemed more prepared. Instead of waiting for the slashes to reach him, he lifted his dark purple sword directly above his head and slashed down with all his strength.

The sound of the blade cutting through the air rang out in his ears before the heavenly treasure produced its own wind blade towards the attacks. He had used much more strength than the slash against the humans earlier that day.

Like a missile fired from a launcher, the wind blade tore through the air and impacted the attack. The clash brought with it the clanging sound of metal colliding which was enough destroy a regular persons ear drums.

Not long after they collided, Jayce’s attack managed to overpower the slash, even continuing its trajectory towards the figure who was still floating below the clouds.

"Tch" The figure clicked its tongue as it saw the attack headed its way.

Then with a quick slash of its rapier, it dispersed Jayce’s sword slash with ease, although it did not look pleased about it. It was almost as if she was pissed off that he dared to fight back.

"Ohoho. I guess you couldn’t defeat him in one move after all."

Another voice which also sounded polyphonic rang out from within the clouds, drawing the figures attention.

"Damn it Baran. How the hell was I meant to know that he was an early stage Core Formation cultivator." She complained before staring daggers at Jayce.

"No one likes a sore loser Dia. You can pay me the spirit stones when we return to Tartarus." The voice replied, clearly amused.

Another figure suddenly appeared next to the original enemy, its body shape and features looking eerily similar to the other one. The only difference would be that the legs weren’t as long and its facial features seemed more masculine.

Jayce’s eyes narrowed as he looked upon the two figures, feeling the alarm bells go off inside of his head. He could instantly tell that this new arrival was at the same level, if not stronger than the one named Dia.

Instead of making any rash moves, Jayce slowly began ascending upwards. He wasn’t a fan of craning his neck to look up at these aliens. Not only did it feel as if he was being disrespected, he did not want to lose the high ground in this fight.

The figure named Baran did not make a move, merely looking at Jayce with a crooked smirk as he ascended to their level. His gaze seemed condescending, as if he couldn’t take him seriously.

Jayce felt a sting of irritation threaten to overcome him, however he did not act rashly. Now was not the time to throw himself towards the enemy, especially seeing as they had yet to make a move.

"Who are you and why are you here?"

After a while, Jayce asked aloud, looking at the two warily.

Dia let out a scoff while Baran stifled a laugh, amusement dancing in his eyes.

"Oh please forgive me, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Baran and this is my sister Dia." He said, bowing flamboyantly. The skinny limbs and flamboyant mannerisms reminded him of Rubick.

"Jayce." He said simply, not returning the bow. He moved his gaze downwards briefly to check on Heath and Colin, letting out a sigh of relief after seeing that they had dealt with the earlier attack from Dia.

"What did you say you were doing here?" He repeated, narrowing his eyes at the two.

"Hehehe. Unfortunately for you, we’re here to carry out some pest control" Baran chuckled, covering his mouth with his hand.

His sister next to him let out an exaggerated laugh, her earlier annoyance for losing their bet seemingly disappearing.

"Kekeke, don’t you get it!? You’re the pests!" She held her sides, pointing at him with glee.

Jayce’s face fell as his expression turned serious. His hand gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, trying to control the anger rising within him. He felt he had a chance of fighting on equal terms with Dia, however with the appearance of her brother, things had gotten more complicated.

"Oho, don’t be so hasty young man. The party hasn’t started just yet." Baran smiled, sending a wink his way.

"Thanks to our brief chat, enough time has passed for the rest of our crew to arrive." With those words, the clouds next to them suddenly shone all sorts of colors, their lights piercing his eyes.

Jayce shielded his eyes momentarily before seeing multiple figures descending towards the ground slowly. They came in all shapes and sizes, however one thing they all shared in common was the pale green skin and large eyes.

Their gazes were filled with ill intent and sometimes even pity as they looked upon him. Instead of remaining in the sky, they slowly made their way down to the ground.

"You see, we have a limit to how many soldiers we can send thanks to the size of the breach. Thank you for being so accommodating and allowing us to exterminate you all." Baran’s face was covered in a shit-eating grin as he spoke condescendingly towards Jayce.

Jayce watched on as almost 2,000 figures appeared from within the clouds and descended towards the Earth. He could tell instinctively that these aliens were only in the Foundation Establishment realm.

He turned towards the siblings and smiled coldly. "You seem rather confident that you can take us out with this army." He said in an icy tone.

It was Dia who answered, laughing wildly as if she heard the funnies joke in the world.

"KEKE HAHAHA! You sure seem full of yourself, two thousand soldiers are more than enough to kill you all" She responded, her polyphonic voice grating at his ears.

Jayce raised his eyebrow and asked seriously, "2,000 soldiers? Did you miscount?"

Dia looked at him with confusion, not understanding what he was getting at. Just as she was about to make fun of him once more, her words were suddenly caught in her throat.

That’s because tens of slashes suddenly appeared from Jayce’s sword, heading towards the soldiers which were slowly descending towards the Earth.

"YOU MOTHERF*CKER!" Dia screamed out, yet she was too late to move.

However, Baran was much quicker than her. He had identified the problem almost instantly and had managed to step in front of some of the attacks before they had landed. Unfortunately for him, Jayce had sent many slashes, which meant there were still many casualties.

"AHHH!"

"SAVE ME!"

Screams and wails rang out in the sky as soldiers were torn apart by the slashes. It was almost as if they were a terrible choir, singing out off key with their weird polyphonic voices shouting hoarsely.

Before Baran could react, Jayce flew towards Dia with ill intent, appearing in front of her almost instantly and catching her off guard.

He knew that if he fought both of them simultaneously there was no way he could win. Therefore he could only employ such tactics in order to survive. After all, it was not only his life that was at risk right now, it was the entire human race.
