- Chapter 1: First Kill
The elf captain moved like moonlight given form.
Her name was Elara—Sylvan Star’s pride, their blade, their hope. And as she faced the elephant-kin across the scarred battlefield, her emerald eyes showed no fear. Only calculation.
Three kilometers of terrain. One opponent. One chance.
She drew her bow.
The elephant-kin—Gareth, Bakari’s elder brother, Divine Elephant bloodline, Mana Heart Rank 3—grinned at her with tusks gleaming.
"Little elf. Your friends are already eliminated. Join them."
Elara said nothing.
She nocked three arrows simultaneously—lightning incarnate, crackling with voltage that made the air itself taste of ozone.
FWOOOOSH. FWOOOOSH. FWOOOOSH.
Three lightning arrows screamed across the battlefield at impossible angles—not straight lines, but curved trajectories that bent around obstacles, split at the last second, came from directions that shouldn’t have been possible.
Gareth’s Vajra Indestructible Body flared. Metallic skin spread across his torso, arms, face—shiiiing—turning him into a living statue.
CLANG. CLANG. CLANG.
Two arrows deflected. The third found the gap at his shoulder joint—where metal met flesh—and burned through.
HISS.
Gareth didn’t flinch. "Good. Now I’m motivated."
He charged.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Each footstep cracked the earth. Each stride covered ten meters. He closed the distance with terrifying speed for someone his size—bulk转化为velocity, mass converted into momentum.
Elara backpedaled, firing continuously.
CRACK. CRACK. CRACK. FWOOOOSH.
Lightning arrows lit the battlefield in strobing flashes. Most deflected. Some slipped through—burning gouges in Gareth’s metallic skin that healed within seconds. The elephant-kin’s grin never wavered.
"Is that all you’ve got?"
He was close now. Twenty meters. Fifteen. Ten.
Elara stopped retreating.
SWISH.
Her bow swept in a horizontal arc—not firing an arrow, but creating a line of lightning that expanded outward like a blade. Gareth raised his arms to block—
CLANG.
The impact sent him sliding backward, feet carving trenches, but he held. His grin widened.
"More."
He lunged.
THUD.
His fist missed—Elara ducked beneath it, rolling to the side, coming up with three more arrows nocked and ready.
FWOOOOSH. FWOOOOSH. FWOOOOSH.
Point blank. Lightning erupted against Gareth’s back—CRACK, CRACK, CRACK—scorching through gaps in his metallic skin, burning flesh beneath.
GRRRRN.
The elephant-kin’s roar shook the air. He spun—faster than someone his size should move—and his fist caught Elara’s blocking arm.
CRACK.
The sound of breaking bone echoed across the battlefield.
Elara screamed—AHHHN—staggering backward, bow clutched to her chest, arm hanging at a wrong angle. Pain contorted her beautiful features.
Gareth pressed the advantage.
THUD. CRACK. BOOM.
Punch after punch. Elara dodged what she could, blocked what she couldn’t, but the elephant-kin was relentless. His Vajra Indestructible Body made him nearly invulnerable to her lightning, and his physical stats overwhelmed her speed advantage.
A kick caught her in the ribs—WHUMP—launching her into the air.
A punch met her descent—CRACK—sending her crashing to the ground.
THUD.
She lay in a small crater, breathing hard, blood streaming from her nose and mouth. Her bow was still clutched in her good hand. Her broken arm throbbed with agony.
The crowd had gone quiet. This wasn’t a fight anymore—it was an execution.
Gareth walked toward her, each step deliberate.
"Yield, little elf. There’s no shame in losing to a superior—"
Elara’s eyes snapped open.
Lightning erupted from her body into a storm. Raw electrical energy expanded outward in all directions, forcing Gareth to raise his arms and brace against the onslaught.
CRACKLE. CRACKLE. BOOM.
The elephant-kin was pushed back—five meters, ten—but his metallic skin held. When the lightning faded, he was still standing, still grinning, still advancing.
"Impressive." He cracked his neck. CRACK. "But not enough."
Elara forced herself to her feet. Her broken arm screamed. Her vision blurred. But she raised her bow one final time.
FWOOOOSH.
A single arrow. The last of her mana. Every remaining ounce of lightning channeled into a single projectile that screamed across the battlefield with the force of a dying star.
Gareth’s eyes widened.
DIVINE ELEPHANT BLOODLINE ART: MOUNTAIN’S WRATH.
His metallic skin exploded—not receding, but expanding, covering his entire body in a layer of divine protection that made his previous Vajra form look like tissue paper. His muscles bulged. His size increased. His aura became something primordial.
CLANG.
The arrow struck his chest and shattered into a thousand fragments.
Gareth stood untouched.
"Done?"
Elara collapsed.
THUD.
Her bracelet flickered.
FLASH.
She vanished—teleported out, eliminated.
"IRON NEXUS WINS! 3-2! THEY ADVANCE TO THE FINAL ROUND!"
"NEXT MATCHUP! EMPYREAL CELESTIAL VERSUS PRIMAL HEART! FIGHTERS, TAKE YOUR POSITIONS!"
Five matches. Five Empyreal victories. Zero Primal Heart wins.
The first fight lasted forty-seven seconds—Empyreal’s third-string member dismantling Primal Heart’s best with casual efficiency.
The second lasted thirty-one seconds.
The third lasted twenty-three.
The fourth lasted nineteen.
By the fifth match, Primal Heart’s remaining fighter didn’t even want to step onto the battlefield. His teammates had to physically push him. He lasted eleven seconds.
"EMPYREAL CELESTIAL WINS! 5-0! WHAT AN ABSOLUTE DOMINATION!"
The crowd was stunned. The Empyreal section cheered, but even they looked slightly uncomfortable. Their captain and vice captain hadn’t moved from their seats.
They didn’t need to.
"NEXT MATCHUP! ASTRAL ZENITH VERSUS AXIS MUNDI!"
A more competitive affair. The monk academy fought with discipline and precision, their techniques flowing like water, their movements perfectly coordinated. But Astral Zenith had Dean Hawthorne—and Dean was hungry.
4-1, Astral Zenith.
Dean’s match had been the most brutal of the round—his opponent, a serene monk with impressive spatial manipulation, had lasted nearly three minutes before Dean’s density-enhanced fists broke through his defenses.
"ASTRAL ZENITH WINS! 4-1! THEY ADVANCE!"
"SECOND TO THE FINAL MATCHUP OF ROUND TWO! HEAVEN’S GATE VERSUS BLOOD MOON!"
Kael’s team rose as one.
Aria stepped forward first.
The Blood Moon representative was already waiting—a pale, gaunt vampire with hollow eyes and an aura that felt like spiders crawling across skin. Psychic abilities, according to the pre-match intelligence. Mind reading, mental attacks, perception manipulation.
"BEGIN!"
Aria moved immediately—shadow and light erupting from her body in equal measure. Shadow tendrils pierced the ground, racing toward the vampire. Light blades materialized in the air, spinning toward his flanks.
The vampire’s eyes glowed.
SHLCK. SHLCK.
The shadow tendrils stopped mid-attack—frozen by psychic force, hovering uselessly in the air. The light blades veered off course, redirected by invisible manipulation.
"You’re fast." The vampire’s voice was a whisper that somehow carried across the entire battlefield. "But speed means nothing if I can see every move before you make it."
Massive rocks ripped from the ground—WHUMP, WHUMP, WHUMP—launched toward Aria by the vampire’s telekinesis.
"Judgement of Light."
Aria’s hands came together. Golden light erupted skyward. The clouds above parted. Light gathered. Condensed.
FWOOOOOOSH.
Multiple massive swords of light descended from the heavens—seven of them, each one the size of a building, crashing down around the vampire in a perfect formation.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Dust and debris exploded outward. The vampire’s telekinetic shield flickered under the assault.
But he was still standing.
Until the threads appeared.
Thin filaments of light—nearly invisible, extending from each buried sword—shot toward the vampire, wrapping around his limbs, his torso, his neck. He struggled, psychic power flaring—
SHLCK. SHLCK. SHLCK. SHLCK.
The threads held.
"Judgement." Aria’s voice was calm. Cold.
Above the vampire, a single sword began to form—larger than the others combined, radiating light so intense it hurt to look at. It descended slowly, deliberately, giving the vampire time to understand what was coming.
"No—LET GO OF ME—"
SHLMM.
The sword fell.
The impact was silent. Light consumed everything within a fifty-meter radius—vampire, swords, threads, ground. When it faded, the vampire was gone.
His bracelet had activated before the sword fully connected. His body appeared outside the barrier, green glow fading, unconscious but alive.
"ARIA NIGHTSHADE WINS! HEAVEN’S GATE TAKES THE LEAD 1-0!"
The Heaven’s Gate section erupted.
Aria walked back to the staging area, breathing hard but upright. She found Kael’s eyes immediately.
"Did I do well?"
Kael’s smile was genuine. "You did great."
Cassian stood, setting down his tea.
"My turn."
