Mark of Sin: Bound to the Cruel Alpha

Chapter 7: Belong

Even as an unawakened omega, every single cell in my body trembled with dread.

I could feel his aura. He was one of the most powerful werewolves I had ever encountered, his scent thickening the air with suffocating dominant pheromones. Tobacco, dark wood, and a heavy, metallic tang that weighed on my lungs.

My knees grew weak, and every instinct screamed at me to submit, to drop to the ground and beg for mercy. But my mind clung to the fraying remnants of my pride: don’t you dare.

"Jane is under family guardianship!" My father didn’t dare step closer, but he screamed desperately, sweating through his clothes, trying to draw the neighbors out to take his side. "She hasn’t awakened yet! No one had the right to leak this information to you! Get the hell out of here!"

The alpha narrowed his eyes, pushing himself off the hood of his car. His movement was fluid but heavy, like a predator tracking its prey. He sauntered toward my father, who immediately stumbled backward over the curb.

"Shut your mouth, human." The alpha’s voice sliced through the air like a blade—cold, devoid of emotion, but vibrating with a power that raised goosebumps down my arms. "The moment the mate mark appears on a breeder’s skin, she belongs solely to her alpha."

Father froze. His chest heaved, his face contorted in a mix of fury and sheer terror. He opened his mouth to speak, but the words drowned in a fresh exhale of smoke. The alpha wasn’t even looking at him anymore; his gaze snapped back to me, pinning me with steel needles that made my skin burn.

"The mark," he commanded. There was no joy in his voice, no triumph. Just wrath, pure and boiling beneath a layer of ice. "Show me."

It wasn’t a request. It was an order bristling with razor-sharp suspicion. It felt as though he didn’t view me as a gift of fate, but as a ticking time bomb. He was waiting for a trap, and the tension made the air crackle like an oncoming storm.

I couldn’t move. My feet were rooted to the ground, my fingers numb against the strap of my bag. Inside, fear tangled with something dark, magnetic, and forbidden. Beneath my sleeve, the rose mark pulsed in tandem with his voice, reaching out for him. But I wanted to run. I wanted to hide. I wanted this to be a nightmare. Why did my fated mate have to be such a terrifying alpha?

Father took a step forward—a foolish, desperate gamble.

"The hell you—" he started, but the alpha didn’t even turn around. He simply exhaled a breath of smoke in Father’s direction, unleashing a crushing wave of pheromones. The suffocating dominance instantly buckled my father’s knees.

"You. Human," the alpha spat, each word laced with contempt. "Your guardianship is over. Lawyers will finalize the transfer tomorrow. But today..." He nodded toward me, his eyes never wavering. "...she leaves with me."

His tone carried a ruthless cruelty, treating me not like a breeder or a person, but a trophy he was wrenching from pathetic hands. The reality of my own helplessness struck me like a slap to the face. Even if I spoke up, it would change nothing. An omega breeder always belonged to someone else, never to herself.

Father wheezed, struggling to straighten his spine. "You won’t take my daughter..."

The alpha let out a crooked, humorless smirk, his fangs catching the sunlight. "I already have."

He flicked his cigarette at Father’s feet. The glowing ember hissed against the grass as the alpha closed the distance between us. His steps were measured and heavy, making the earth beneath me feel unstable. His pheromones bore down on me, forcing my very soul to whimper: submit. Be silent. Disappear.

I retreated. One step. Two. The grass caught at my shoes, and the sun blinded my vision. He stopped just inches away—massive, overwhelming, his scent dizzying and sharp in my lungs.

"Your arm," he repeated, his voice dropping to a low growl. His eyes were deep pools of steel, sharp as knives. "Or I’ll strip the sleeve back myself."

In that exact moment, the truth hits me. This is the beginning of hell. His hell. My cage.

Behind me, my father lets out a broken, powerless growl. I lift my arm. Slowly. The sleeve slides down, exposing the rose mark. It is vivid, crimson, and pulsing in perfect sync with the alpha’s breathing.

His eyes darken, stripping away the last vestiges of anything human. Completely.

"Get in the car."

And my world shatters.
