Mark of Sin: Bound to the Cruel Alpha

Chapter 14: Breeder

Magnus was staring down at his phone, his thumb rapidly typing something urgent. Even from a distance, the warning signs were flashing red.

He was furious. Not just irritated—every line of his posture radiated a controlled, lethal threat. My calling mark, which had remained dormant all day as if hiding right along with me, suddenly flared with a dull, throbbing ache, like a tooth on the verge of abscessing.

Suddenly, he lifted his gaze. Our eyes locked, and he hooked a single, commanding finger, signaling me to come closer.

My heart did something terrifying. First, it slammed violently against my ribs, deafening me with the rush of blood before flatlining entirely.

The saliva in my mouth turned thick and bitter as if I was holding a mouthful of motor oil. I swallowed hard, almost choking, and forced my feet forward.

One step. Then another.

I walked as if I had forgotten how, as if the very ground beneath me had rewritten its laws, turning hostile. The entire universe shrank until there was nothing left but a paralyzing, primal dread.

The sheer mass of his aura was staggering—a suffocating wall of rage and tightly reined madness. It was the kind of heavy, dominant weight that didn’t need to raise its voice to break you.

How could a person be so mortifying? It had to be illegal.

"Where were you?" he asked, his tone perfectly level as he tossed his cigarette butt into a nearby trash bin.

Not even onto the pavement like most people do in the moment of careless madness. Even his anger was meticulously disciplined.

"I was... working," I whispered, not even understanding what I was saying.

His eyes narrowed, sweeping over me with a clinical intensity, searching for a lie. "At this hour?"

"I... I have lectures during the day." I hated how pathetic it sounded. Like an excuse. But I didn’t owe him an explanation. This was his fault.

"You have no business working at these hours," he said. All those words didn’t sound like advice. They sounded like an Alpha command—the heavy latch of a new cage snapping shut, even if this one was lined with gold.

A sudden surge of heat erupted in my chest, pushing back against the fear. It felt almost intoxicating, because anger, at the very least, kept you from feeling small.

"I wouldn’t have to if you hadn’t left me stranded without a single cent," I shot back. My voice trembled on the last word, but I refused to break eye contact.

Magnus raised an eyebrow, a harsh, mocking smirk touching his lips.

"Is that so..." he murmured, as if tasting the accusation. "How much do you want? Name your price, breeder."

He pulled out his wallet. He didn’t rush, moving with a terrifying serenity, as if we were casually debating a restaurant tab rather than the boundaries of my existence. He looked at me the way a powerful wolf looks at a minor inconvenience—a problem far easier to buy out than to understand. But it was the title he used that made the blood freeze in my veins.

Breeder.

He was completely bypassing the social etiquette of the academy. He was acting like a mated Alpha. The kind who claims an Omega Breeder, commands her, and provides for her.

I went utterly cold. Has he completely lost his mind?

Something vital inside my chest snapped, fracturing and turning to ash. It tasted like pure humiliation. Because I didn’t want his money. And I certainly wasn’t going to let him buy my submission.

His nostrils flared. He dragged the cold air deep into his lungs, and I watched a grimace of pure revulsion distort his flawless, aristocratic features.

The mating mark on my wrist suddenly detonated with a white-hot agony so intense a cry tore from my throat, though the sound died before it could pass my lips. Through our jagged, unbonded connection, his blinding fury bled into me, fusing with my own mounting panic.

"I was working because money doesn’t just fall from the sky for me!" I shouted, violently twisting my head to tear my jaw from his suffocating grip. "Because my fated mate abandoned me in the dark and took everything I owned!"

He dropped his hand instantly, snapping his fingers back as if he’d been scorched by an open flame. He took a single step back, but the crushing weight of his dominant aura didn’t waver. It hung over the deserted courtyard like a heavy, suffocating dome.

"You will never set foot in a den of filth like that again," he commanded, his eyes boring into mine. "I forbid it."

"You don’t get to dictate my life!" I spat, though my knees trembled so violently I could barely keep my footing. "You are nothing to me."

"I am an Alpha. I am your mate," he threw back, the words cutting through the night air with such absolute, terrifying authority that the silence around us seemed to ring. "And I will not have my breeder collecting the drool of intoxicated bastards for pocket change. It degrades my name."

"You made it perfectly clear last night that you couldn’t care less about me," I whispered, a bitter, hollow laugh escaping my lips as I instinctively tucked my arms against my chest. "So why do you suddenly care where I work?"

For a fraction of a second, something dangerous fractured his icy facade. A dark, predatory glint of sheer, territorial possessiveness sparked in his eyes.

He remained silent, and that unyielding stillness was infinitely more terrifying than any roar.

Slowly, he pulled another cigarette from his case, but he didn’t strike a flame. He simply rolled the white cylinder between his long, lethal fingers, watching me like a hunter assessing trapped prey.

"Tomorrow, after your lectures, you will report to the North Sector compound," he finally delivered, his tone flattening into a level, glacial cadence that made my entire world crash down around me. "Your father signed the lineage transfer documents half an hour ago. You belong entirely to me now. Breeder."
