Born in apocalypse

After much thought, he finally narrowed all the possible scenarios down to one conclusion.

’Maybe the section for the mutation would appear after I ate something and gained some essence points.’ Dhruv thought.

This conclusion wasn’t just something he made up...No, it was based on a reason. The reason being that even though the trio could gain experience points, they didn’t have the level and cosmic shop presented on the status. This would be the case and these sections would not appear until they reach the next tier of their evolution.

This was the exact base of his whole theory and he came to the conclusion that Status needed some type of stimulus to make something appear or disappear from it.

After a few more steps of walking, he finally reached the trio and asked, "How is your absorption going?"

"We haven’t begun absorbing the core yet. There are plenty of more cores left to extract so, we have decided to absorb them after extracting them all." Alaric responded.

"Make sense. Remember to leave some core for me," he said.

The trio nodded and he began to travel toward the nearest Crystalle corpse.

The reason why he asked the trio to leave some core for him was because he wanted to absorb some core for himself and wanted to see their effect. He had said to keep them for later because he planned to do absorb them some other time as he had another business to attend at this moment.

With full control over his senses, all the corpses began to look disgusting and now didn’t look anything close to the items on the KFC menu either. That’s why he chose to consume Crystallce as they looked relatively good compared to goblins and spiders.

He tore one arm from the corpse and sank his teeth deep into that. Almost instantly blue liquid began to fill his mouth. Despite his hesitation, he tore off the meat from the hand and began to chew it with a disgusting look on his face.

"Blrghhh"

Despite his control, he pukes the meat out of disgust.

"Man, how can I compare that heaven to this disgusting rotten rat-like shit." he cursed himself when remembered that he had compared this with the chicken wings at some point.

With some hesitation, he bit into the hand once more and started to chew it. He had to chew the meat because he couldn’t gulp down the whole bite in a single swallow. This chewing made the whole disgusting feeling increase tenfold.

Wiping the blue blood that was dripping from his mouth, he finally swallowed the meat and waited for the notification to appear.

"Ohhh! Come on" he threw the arm and leg in frustration when this whole disgusting ordeal didn’t even reward him with an essence point.

Knowing he didn’t have any other choice and would be forced to eat multiple times just to gain a single essence point he used the same thing he employed when the trio were to eat.

He goes around tearing the arm from multiple Crystallce and collocted them in one place. He makes a big round metal bowl with the help of [Metal construct] and puts all the arms in it. He made the bowl in such a manner that the bottom layer of it was filled with many tiny holes so that water would pass through it automatically.

After placing all the arms in a bowl, he began to pour water into it to wash away any dirt and excess blood. After running the water continuously for a minute, all the impurities from the hands were washed away.

"Nice," Dhruv complimented himself as he lifted his hand and used the fusion ability, then waited for his meal to be ready. After a while, the meal was ready, but there was a slight problem—it contained too much iron.

"Fuck, Fuck" he muttered as he bit his lips in frustration after noticing that the bowl had been fused with the hands as well. He was about to almost give up the idea of eating today but stopped when heard a sound...

Grrrrr Grrrrr

He went limp after hearing his stomach begging him to eat anything. He also knew he hadn’t eaten something in quite some time. Quite some time was an understatement as he had been hungry for almost the past 30 hours.

"This time everything will go well," he motivated himself as he went around picking the hands of the Crystallcle once again. One reassuring thing was that there were many corpses, so even if he failed a few more times, there wouldn’t be any problem—not that he planned to fail again.

He repeated the whole process once again: he made the bowl, threw all the hands in there, and then continuously let the water flow through it. However, this time he didn’t activate the fusion right away and instead took a moment to calm himself down first.

"With all this, I should probably buy a meditation skill, or I’ll go mad pretty quickly, I guess," he whispered to himself, seriously considering the idea of purchasing such a skill If he managed to find it.

When Dhruv felt he was calm enough, he extended his hand forward and cast the fusion again, but this time he was careful not to let the bowl get involved in the process once again. To make the final outcome even better—Lookwise— he thought and shaped the fusion in a way that the final result resembled a cone rather than a hand.

Phew!

Dhruv let out a sigh of relief when he noticed that the fusion had been successful this time. He carefully picked up the cone and let the bowl dissolve into metal mana. After picking up the cone, he eventually took a bite.

As he chewed the bite, he was surprised to find that there was no disgusting taste in it, and was just bland. After chewing for a bit and finally gulping the meat, he finally heard the long-awaited notification.
