Born in apocalypse

A single entity was floating in the endless white void. Something inside of him got awakened as it quivered its eyes a bit... really tempted to see the reality he was in.

As if someone were there, strongly wishing against this, because no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t open his eyes. The wish remained a wish as the quivering slowed down... eventually coming to a stop.

Something inside the realm fluctuated as the endless void began to retreat. In its place, reality once again took hold.

Despite being unconscious, there was only one question that wandered back and forth in the mind of the one who was floating in the void...

’Is this really the reality I’ve lived...’

It had begun to understand the situation he was in and knew for a fact that he needed to get out of there as fast as possible. Whether he left this place alive or dead, wasn’t in his control... neither was he worrying over it.

With a final burst, the color began to scatter from the whiteness. Within seconds after the burst, everything began to form from scratch. Before one could comprehend what was happening, the realm became habitable once again.

Beep! Honk! Horn!

"Dhruv, why are you stopping the traffic?" A sound rang, mixing with the horns of the cars in the surroundings. Even though it got mixed, it had achieved the purpose for which it had been created.

The man, who had been without consciousness until this moment, suddenly awoke from his slumber. Instead of panicking, he blinked his eyes twice and began to observe the surroundings.

"Huh!! What was I doing..." Whispering with a smile, the man looked left and right to truly understand the situation he was in. Understanding where he was, he turned to face the drivers and muttered... "Sorry, guys..."

Muttering these words, he got out of the crossroad and cleared the traffic. It hadn’t been more than ten seconds, and he was once again in front of a dangerous situation.

"So why did you stop there midway..." The voice of his mother rang in his ears as he found her staring at him.

Lowering his head in shame, Dhruv muttered with a clear smile on his face, "Ohhh! It’s nothing, mom... I’ve just realized something..."

Not understanding what her son meant, she asked a question with a confused look, "Huhhh! Realized??... and what might you have realized?"

"It’s nothing that big... I just realized that his name was Coby... not Toby..." Dhruv answered without a second thought.

"Who is this Toby? Who now has transformed into Coby?" She asked, totally unfamiliar with the names his son was mentioning.

Looking at her confused expression, the smile on his face gets broader. Trying not to get suspicious, he muttered, "The one who introduced me to tattoos... Mom!"

Saying this, he slightly unbuttoned his shirt and showed the tattoo to her.

Even after looking at the tattoos on her son’s body, there was confusion in her eyes. This confusion didn’t last long as a smile appeared on her face as well.

"Ohhh! In that case, you remembered who he is, right?" She asked.

"Of course, I remember... I remembered everything... very clearly. In fact, I have some questions that I would like to ask this ’Coby guy’ the next time we meet..." Dhruv muttered as they continued to walk toward their destination, which was a hotel.

"Whatever..." Not interested in her son’s blabbering, she silent him down and continued to walk while enjoying the scenes around the roads.

Being a city famous for vacations, every last bit of it was worth watching. Due to taking their time while walking, it took them quite a while to reach their destination... the destination being one of the most famous hotels in the entirety of the country.

The hotel in front of him was one of the main hotels, controlled by one of the very wealthy families that belonged here... the Tressy family.

Today, Dhruv had planned to have lunch here with his family. Being a famous hotel, it wasn’t easy to get a reservation here, and that’s why he had to book their seats for lunch a week prior.

The hotel was quite luxurious, making it that much more expensive as well. Dhruv wasn’t the type to spend his money like this as well... but when it came to having a once-in-a-lifetime experience, he wasn’t to hesitate either.

"Welcome, Sir... Welcome, Ma’am!" the guard opened the gate as he welcomed his guests into their humble abode. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

After confirming their seats at the counter, they got to their seats and began to look through the items available for their choice.

While they were perusing the menu, the waiters came and presented them with their starters... without disturbing them, he politely backed off.

After getting a bite of the food, a delighted smile appeared on his face, "Hmmm! Quite good... Don’t you think, Mother?" Dhruv muttered as he swallowed his bite.

"Yes! It is surprisingly good..." For some reason, she was expecting it to not be that good. Looking in her other children’s direction, she lifted her eyebrows...

"I-t i..s good, mother..." In the middle of his chewing, Surya muttered.

"Good..." Rani answered with minimal words as she continued to enjoy her meal.

As they were about to finish the meal, Dhruv called for the waiter to order the main course. He didn’t even know how to pronounce half of them before... after getting some knowledge from the internet, he had become quite confident...

"Is there anything else you would like, sir?" Writing everything down, the waiter asked with a smile on his face.

"No... I’m good," Dhruv replied with a polite smile.

Nodding his head, the waiter walked to the counter and submitted the page. The man on the counter was about to pick it up to check the food but stopped as he noticed someone enter the restaurant...

Without a second thought, he got up from his seat and walked toward her. Bowing his head he muttered in a low voice... "Welcome, ma’am! Will you like your regulars today as well?"
