Tears began to roll down Jorac’s cheeks as he closed his eyes to stop himself from seeing all the horror that was right in front of him.

Even though he wanted to become a warrior he hadn’t fought a single real battle yet and didn’t have a close relationship with blood making the scene too much to bear.

Standing still, he tried to think about what was going on, but every time, the image of the littered bodies appeared... forcing him to shut his thoughts. Before he could calm himself enough to think thoroughly, a sound resounded once again in the area.

Booooooooooommmmm!

Something once again had dropped from the sky, and from the sound, it was bigger and stronger than the first one. The collision once again generated a shockwave, this time strong enough to throw people off the ground.

’Ahhhh!’

Trying to get himself to stand, Jorac instinctively opened his eyes. Even though his eyes were open, he couldn’t see anything. The snow and dirt had covered the whole area, forcing him to close his eyes again.

"MOM... AUNTY... WHEe–" Jorac forcefully closed his mouth as it had already filled with dirt.

"Ahhhh! I-I’m here, J-Jorac... are you AHhhh! all right?" A sound filled with pain echoed.

Jorac could hear his aunt, but there wasn’t any sign of his mother’s sweet voice. He could hear all sorts of sounds coming from all directions, but none of them belonged to his mother.

"M-mom... mom.. Where are you..." Not knowing what to do, he bent down, crawling on the ground in the hope of finding her.

"Mom... Mom" Wiping his tears, he couldn’t stop yelling hoping to find her.

"J-Jorac... go Ahhhh! ouchhh! inside the shop... Hide quickly," Jorac could hear his aunt suggesting he hide somewhere, but he wasn’t in the mood to do so. He wasn’t going to leave her alone here. He was determined to leave along with her.

A few seconds passed, and the dirt began to settle down. It was easier to see around, but still, there was no sign of his mother.

"Mom!" As he moved toward the shop, he finally saw something on the ground. He could see his mother’s leg... she was lying on the ground, but she was there.

"Mom! Mom!" Standing, he quickly picked up the pace and ran toward her.

"Mom! Are you alright... what is goi–" His words stuck in his throat as he finally saw the reason why his mother wasn’t replying. "No... no, no, no. Mom, please... get up. Please...."

As the second boulder collided with the first one, it had broken into numerous pieces. Those pieces had flown in all directions, causing more damage than the initial collision.

"MOM! PLEASE GET UP... mom," Jorac screamed as tears rolled down his cheeks and the world around him began to blur. It was so clear, yet Jorac couldn’t accept the reality.

His mother’s entire upper part had been crushed by a piece of the boulder. There was nothing but blood, crushed bones, and pieces of organs splattered on the ground.

And Jorac... Jorac was still trying to piece his mother together in that mess.

"Jorac," someone called him from behind, but he didn’t pay attention to it. Everything around him had turned black as his tears and snot filled his face.

"Jorac," the voice rang again.

"Jorac... hurry up, something has happened. We have to find a safe location," the voice came again, this time filled with panic and sorrow.

"Jorac!!??" Once again, there was no response.

"JORAC," his aunt shouted at him for the first time since his birth.

Finally, the boy turned around. Looking toward his aunt with hopeful yet painful eyes, he muttered, "Aunt... see, sob! Mum is not standing up.... Won’t you tell her to stand up?"

"...She always listens to you," he whispered, his voice getting thinner and thinner.

"Come here, boy. Come here. I will tell her.. tell my sisters to get up, I’m sure she will.... listen. Y-you come here first; there is something going on, and we have to go to the safety bunkers," she said, biting her lips as she finally managed to finish the sentence.

"But... but..." Jorac tried to deny it, not wanting to let his mother go, but he quickly found himself bound in his aunt’s arms.

Knowing he wasn’t in a state to do anything, Klovari picked Jorac up with her remaining strength and began to run in the opposite direction of the gate. She was running toward the queen’s castle.

There were bunkers built around the castle to protect everyone in situations like these.

She ran while using all her agility-type skills, but the distance seemed infinitely long. Praying, she continued to run forward, hoping to reach safety.

Before she could even cross the gate of the market, something happened as her leg turned limp.

"FUCK... FUCK," Klovari cursed as she couldn’t believe her eyes.

Just right above her head, another boulder had materialized, blocking the very rays of hope from reaching her. Everything around her turned black as the sun was hidden behind the boulder.

Before she could move a step forward, the magic keeping it afloat stopped, prompting it to descend.

As Klovari looked up, she couldn’t help but feel everything was futile in front of this monstrosity. The thing looked horrifying yet comforting... ghastly yet gorgeous... chilling yet warm. It looked... it looked as if a piece of the sky was falling.

Knowing there was nothing she could do, Klovari chose to accept her fate. But fate... fate had something else planned.

Time seemed to slow down as she felt each second stretch longer than an eternity. Even though she had accepted it... Klovari’s heart pounded in her chest, each beat a desperate plea for survival.

Just as the weight of the boulder threatened to crush them, a surge of icy blue light erupted from the far distance.

’Huh!...’ When nothing happened even after a few seconds, Klovari opened her eyes. Her pupils constricted as a hint of relief appeared on her face when she saw the reality.

Like everyone else, she was looking at a miracle. A few meters above her head, there was a hand made of ice that had caught the boulder, stopping it in its path.

From the quality of mana she was feeling, Klovari was sure of one thing.

The queen... the Ice Empress had taken action.

Cracks began to form as the hand moved from its location and threw the boulder far out of the city wall. The hand turned into mana particles as a siren rang throughout the city.

"Everyone, this is an emergency. Please, all civilians, reach the nearest bunker."

"Everyone, this is an emergency. Please, all civilians, rea...."

"Everyone, this is an emergency. Pleas...."

The announcement continued to ring as everyone began to run in the same direction. Moving her leg, Klovari took a step forward.

She saw something... no, someone was entering the town through one of the holes that had appeared in the wall because of the boulder.

A monster... no, a humanling is walking toward them...

Following right behind him was a being made out of bone... an undead. The very being that represents death.

’Forgive me, Jorac...’ This was the last thing she saw as her vision turned black... for eternity, that is.
