Born in apocalypse

In a particular building guarded by humans and monsters alike, there was serious traffic as people from all over the world came to witness something new.

In the basement of this building, a man was laughing heartily, reveling in the success of his new creation.

"Haha! Finally, after all this work... hahah! Finally, I’ve created this masterpiece..." Muttering these words, he picked up the machine beside him.

The machine almost looked like a machine gun, the only difference being that it had just a single mouth from where the ammunition could exit.

Checking the temperature of the machine, the man placed it back on the table and moved slightly forward to pick up another item. Glancing toward the box marked "Tier 1 Cores" in bold letters, he selected one core and moved toward the machine once again.

With a clear smirk on his face, he began to open the top part of the gun slightly and dropped the core into it. Observing that the core had been securely placed in the compartment, he lifted the machine to his chest and pressed the trigger button.

The moment he pressed the red button inside the trigger, something violent began to happen inside the gun. As the process reached its peak, the gun began to glow exponentially.

Seeing that the time had come, the man released the button. The moment he did, all that violent energy found a perfect place to escape from the machine’s confined space... and it did.

Wooooossshhh!

In just a matter of seconds, a beam of light traveled across the room and obliterated the target placed on the other side. Witnessing his favorite creation work like a charm, a smile broke over the man’s face.

"Ahhh! How satisfying... if only we could achieve full efficiency, then the destruction would have been so much better..." Muttering these words, he placed the machine on the table and began to check its temperature. As expected, the machine had become hot—incredibly hot.

’Hmmm! The heating problem is also a downside...’ While he pondered how to address the temperature issue, a sound distracted him,

"Sir, everyone is here..." The voice of a man dressed in butler clothing entered the room.

"Ohh! Is it. Isn’t it so early.." Saying these words, he moved his head to find a clock, but to his disappointment, there wasn’t any clock in this weapon testing room.

"No, sir, they are on the right track... in fact, if you don’t hurry, you will be late." The butler replied in a humble manner.

’Oops!’ Sighing, the man quickly exited the room and headed toward an area where business-appropriate attire was placed.

After cleaning himself up, the man followed his butler, who led him to an area where multiple men and women were waiting for him.

The moment he entered the room, a familiar voice rang out, "How are you doing, Devid."

Yes, the man experimenting with the gun was none other than the leader of the great Parker family—the family heavily involved in the weapons market before the evolution and still striving to stay in the same business.

Looking at the man, whose entire face was covered with a white beard, Devid muttered, "Well, I’m fine, Uncle Magnus... Stop worrying about me and tell me how you guys are."

Devid spoke as if he knew everyone in the room personally, and that was indeed the case as he was familiar with almost everyone present there.

In the room were leaders of all three great families and the families beneath them. Government officials were also present, along with some individuals who had risen to fame due to their unique class and exclusive abilities after the evolution.

"I’m fine.."

"Fine.."

".."

"..."

Knowing that they were here to see the weapon they were interested in, everyone replied with a positive attitude. When everything calmed down, Devid looked toward his butler and signaled him.

Nodding his head, the butler quickly muttered, "Bring it here..."

Following the sound, two women entered the room, carrying something covered with a black silk sheet. Without any interruption, they moved toward the main table, placed the item, and returned to their positions.

Looking at the item with a broad smile, Devid remarked, "So, ladies and gentlemen, this is the item I’ve been talking about, the one you all are eager to get your hands on... the name of the item is Mega Destroyer... cough!"

Seeing the cringe on their faces, Devid quickly added, "The name could be changed. But forget about the name and let me explain, how this bad boy works."

"... the Mega Destroyer is a device that will use the core as its energy source and release a concentrated amount of pure mana that will destroy anything in its path." Saying these simple words, Devid closed his mouth to gauge the reaction of the people in the room.

’Well, they don’t look interested at all... these old geezers won’t be happy unless they see the real deal..’ Knowing what all of them wanted, Devid quickly removed the covering from the item and displayed it to everyone.

"Hmm! So it will take a core... the same core we get from the monsters, right.." A woman seated on the left side of the table asked.

"Yes, exactly. A Tier 1 core to be exact. Tier 1 core is the one we get from the most basic of the monsters." Devid nodded. Even though he knew everyone would have a pretty good understanding of monsters, explaining was part of his job.

"Okay... can we see it working?" Magnus asked as he quietly stroked his beard, as if he were deep in thought.

"Of course, we can see that... let’s get down to the basement then," muttering these words, he looked toward his butler.

Noticing his gaze, the butler quickly nodded with a simple smile on his face.

’Sigh! So it is not a mess down there...’ Devid thought, heaving a sigh of relief. Like every craftsman, he also had a habit of making a mess out of his place... which he quite frankly wasn’t proud of... but the thing is, no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t get rid of it.

Slowly but surely, all of them reached the area where everything was ready. Numerous targets were placed all inside the room with an area for observers as well.

"Wait here, I will demonstrate all of it in a second..." Leaving all of them in the spectator area, Devid quickly entered the main part of the room.

"Soo, see this is how we will load the Omega Destroyer... Pick a core and place it at this top part of the gun, which is called the loader." Muttering these words, he demonstrated the same thing.

While he was closing the lid of the loader, a voice reached his ear, "So, how much core can we load in the machine at a time?"

Looking toward a really old man, he muttered, "We can load a maximum of two cores at a time. But I personally like one at a time..."

"Why is that?" the old man asked with a hint of curiosity. I mean, he was right; if one could place two cores at a time, then why limit yourself to just one.

"Huh! It’s nothing serious... I just like it that way so I don’t find myself in the zone and just shoot things out... haha!" giggling to himself, Devid confessed.

"Haha! That isn’t something new..." The old man replied with a light laugh as well.

"Well, like they say, Uncle Max, old habits die hard," Devid muttered as he checked if the lid of the loader had been closed properly.

After making sure that everything was all right, he turned toward the crowd and began explaining once again, "So, after loading the core... you’ve done all the job. Now you just have to press this red button until the core is sucked out of its energy... I don’t think you guys will be interested in all that science stuff... no, that magic stuff, right?"

"Right!" Even though some of them wanted to get their hands on the blueprint, they clearly denied that.

"Right! So, after you press the button... keep in mind that you don’t have to release it yet... keep pressing the button until you feel a click vibration in your finger. When you hear that, then it means that the weapon is ready, and you can release it at any moment." Devid muttered as he did all of those things while explaining them.

Click!

Feeling the clicking, through his finger a smile appeared over his face, no matter how much time he did it he never fail to get exited at this part.

"Enojoy the might of the might Mega Destroyer..." Saying these words Devid released the buttom...

Wooossh!

A blue beam of energy ger out of gun as it hit the target straight in its chest...

"Woah! This looks even more interesting then those video.." Magnus muttered clearly inpressed by the work.
