Born in apocalypse

’Uhhh! Is this reality, or am I still in that forest realm?’ Ewen thought as he began to regain consciousness slowly after evolving.

It didn’t take long before Ewen regained control over his senses and saw the man in front of him. The moment he opened his eyes, he found out that the undead lord was standing in front of him.

’So, I’m in the real world, or maybe my real real world. I mean, what even was that thing?’ Ewen couldn’t help but remember the realm he was in just a few minutes ago, or at least that’s what he believed.

He didn’t think about the weird and magical realm any longer and focused on the man in front of himself.

"Are you waiting for me, Your Grace?" Ewen asked as he bowed.

"No, I just happened to be here at the perfect time," Azarex chuckled as he observed the supposedly old man.

"Ohhh! Is something wrong with me," Ewen thought as he got out of his egg case. The moment he took the first step, he instantly realized that there were some changes in himself.

’What’s wrong with my leg?’ Ewen thought as he looked down. He was surprised to find out that there wasn’t loose skin on his leg anymore.

He could feel strength coursing through his bones. It wasn’t just the leg either there were changes all over his body. He felt that he could run a marathon, just as he was able to do in his prime.

’Maybe not that strong, but still, isn’t this too good?’ Ewen thought as he began to inspect his body.

After careful observation, he finally came to the conclusion, "I-It looks like... It looks like I have gotten at least ten years younger."

Finally, a smile bloomed on his face as he remembered someone’s face, ’Now, maybe I have a chance...’

Before he could start his imagination, he was suddenly interrupted by Azarex.

"How do you feel, old man, or should I say young man?" Azarex giggled as he said those words.

Ewen felt embraced by being addressed with this word. He also giggled and said, "I’m still far from that. Maybe after another one or two evolutions, I can reach there."

Ewen was about to dive into the world of imagination once again, but he was disturbed once more.

"So, how do you feel, magically wise?" Azarex asked with a serious face.

"Ohh! I feel great. After evolution, I could feel a strong connection with something here..." Ewen pointed towards the left side of his chest.

"It must be your monster, or maybe you can even call it your mana core," Azarex answered without him asking a question.

"So, the monster core could generate on its own even when he wasn’t fused with one, or born with one," Azarex evaluated as he noted to tell this point to his master.

"Yes, a monster core!" Ewen found this word quite hypnotic.

"Wait, why am I attracted to that thing..." Ewen frowned as he thought of this point. Before he could put his mind on this, Azarex asked another question.

"Did you get any mutations?"

The moment he heard the word, a hint slight of regret appeared on his face. Controlling himself, he looked at the undead lord and said,

"There were many things that were interesting, but unfortunately, I didn’t have that much energy, so I could barely afford to buy a mutation after making two of my organs mutable."

’So, the absence of monster cores still had effects on evolution,’ Azarex thought as he took note of this point as well.

"Ohhh! So, what is the name of your new organ?" He asked with curiosity. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"The name of this new organ is ’Forest seed.’ The only effect of this organ is to increase the effect of my forest magic. It isn’t that good compared to other options that were listed there," Ewen said while taking a deep breath.

"No, it is good. My first organ’s effect was the same as this one," Azarex said as he tried to encourage Ewan.

"Really!?"

"Yes."

After waiting for a few moments, Azarex continued, "You should put on your clothes and return to the dungeon. Master must be waiting to see you."

"Ohh! Right." He remembers that he was still naked. There were just some leaves covering his private part and that was due to him instinctively casting a spell.

He quickly changed into his clothes and exited the house. As he was about to walk towards the portal, he noticed that Azarex was still standing at the front door, waiting for him.

He stopped, looked at the undead lord, and said, "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Tell Alaric that he can come to deposit the corpses in the warehouse," Azarex said.

"Okay!" Ewen nodded.

They both began to walk in separate directions. While Ewen was moving toward the portal, Azarex was going to start the creation of the second warehouse.

While walking toward the portal, Ewen suddenly had an idea and jumped into the air. He was able to reach a height of one meter before crashing down to the earth.

’I can even jump now. How will they react after seeing me like this?’ Ewen thought as he began to imagine the faces his grandchildren would make after seeing him in this form.

It didn’t take long before he reached the portal, and without wasting any time, he jumped into it.

The moment Ewen arrived at the other side, he realized a problem.

’How am I supposed to know which direction they are now?’ he thought as he began to look around.

He couldn’t even find any people nearby to ask for directions. He was about to walk in any random direction when he heard a voice in his head,

[Old man, is that you?]

He recognized the voice but couldn’t figure out where it was coming from.

[Yes, my lord, it is me. But where are you? How are we able to talk?] he couldn’t help but ask this question.
