Xie Ning was quite surprised. ’Have these two already seen through my ruse? Do they know there aren’t any metal fragments embedded in their arms at all?’

Xie Ning frowned.

"We owed Wang Han a small favor, so he sent us to deal with your family. But now that we’ve lost to you, we wholeheartedly accept our defeat."

’And why wouldn’t he accept defeat?’

’The girl’s punches had nearly made a grown man like him puke up last night’s dinner.’

’If he didn’t submit, was he just going to wait to be beaten to death?’

’He wasn’t that stupid.’

’Surviving these days was tough, but didn’t his scummy brother get a Space Ability? Following him around and coasting along shouldn’t be a problem for now.’

"But just to be clear, I haven’t awakened a superpower like from the Ji clan or anything. My sniping skills are pretty decent, though."

"His name is Ji?"

"Not ’chicken’! You know King Wu’s conquest of Zhou, right? *That* Ji." Ji Taixian looked miserable. "My name is Ji Taixian, and he’s Wang Zongxuan."

’Ji Tai Xian? As in, "chicken is too idle"?’

Xie Ning almost laughed out loud.

"Not ’too idle’! It’s the ’Tai’ for peace and the ’Xian’ for virtue!" Poor Ji Taixian was on the verge of depression.

Seeing the suppressed laughter on the faces of the uncle, auntie, and young lady beside him, he knew exactly what they were all thinking.

"Ji Taixian, Wang Zongxuan." Xie Ning nodded. She pulled a roll of gauze from a nearby drawer and tossed it to them. "Bandage your wounds. You’re coming with me to do some work in a bit."

"What kind of work?" Ji Taixian hadn’t expected to be put to work so quickly. He was still a bit dazed.

"What did Wang Han tell you when you came here?"

"To be honest, we don’t know Wang Han that well. The two of us came here on vacation by ourselves. We weren’t on their team to begin with."

"This morning, someone suddenly turned into a zombie. Wang Han saved Zong Xuan, so we were grateful. We heard that you guys at Number 85 had a lot of supplies, so we thought we’d help Wang Han rescue a few of his companions, and while we were at it... gather some more supplies."

Ji Taixian rubbed his nose in embarrassment.

In reality, helping Wang Han rescue people was secondary. Their main goal was to swipe some stuff for themselves.

"But that Wang Han is a real bastard. He never told us how strong you were. He just said some people from the rescue team were being held here and wanted us to do him a small favor and get them out."

Xie Ning sneered.

’So, if I hadn’t been a bit stronger, it would’ve been perfectly fine for them to rob my house blind?’

Seeing her sneer, Ji Taixian quickly shrank back and gave a fawning smile. "Miss, Miss, just tell us what you need us to do! As long as it helps make up for our mistake, we’ll go through hell and high water for you! The two of us were just tricked by that dog Wang Han!"

Wang Zongxuan shot him a disgusted look.

’You can go through it yourself! Who said I was going with you?’

’Being stuck with an idiot like you on the road to hell would be the worst luck of eight lifetimes...’

"Uncle, you keep drawing water. Mom, lock the door tight. I’m just stepping out for a bit, I’ll be right back."

"Where are you going, Ningning?" her family asked, almost in unison.

"It’s nothing." The young woman gave them an exceptionally gentle smile. "We’re still not sure what the situation in the village is, right? I’ll just take them for a quick look around. Twenty minutes, and I’ll be right back."

Song Kexin watched her sister with a deadpan expression.

’Twenty minutes? She felt like her sister was bluffing, but she didn’t have any proof yet.’

Xie Ning picked up the air rifle by the door and tossed it to Wang Zongxuan. "Let’s go."

Ji Taixian and Wang Zongxuan followed her out the iron gate, exchanging a glance. "Where are we going?"

"Number 98." A cold smile touched Xie Ning’s lips.
