Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

"Dawei, what’s got you so happy?" A graceful woman in a silk nightgown descended the stairs, a flirtatious smile dancing in her eyes.

Li Dawei was ecstatic. "Yingying, I’m a Superpower User! I feel like I’m bursting with energy—I could probably take down an ox with my bare hands!"

’If I’d known I was awakening a superpower, I would’ve just gone head-to-head with that old bastard Song Youzhi!’

’Why did I even bother hiding inside?’

"Zhao Yingying, you’re just getting up now? Were you a pig in your past life?"

’How could her brother fall for such a lazy woman? She doesn’t earn money or do any work, sleeps until dusk, and expects to be waited on hand and foot every single day.’

It had been tough on the siblings. First, they’d been groggy with a fever for over an hour, and when they woke up, they found their grandparents had gone mad and were trying to bite people.

After reading the text messages and piecing together what had happened, they were both stunned.

You have to understand, the siblings and Zhao Yingying were professional moochers at home who had never lifted a finger in their lives. It wasn’t an exaggeration to say they didn’t even have to peel their own hard-boiled eggs!

Now that their grandparents were zombies, who was going to do their laundry and cook for them? Who was going to provide for them?

The siblings put their heads together and hatched a plan.

They would lock their grandparents in a room, then trick the old couple from the Song Family across the way into coming over.

If they helped that pair of old fools from the Song Family kill their grandparents, they could act as the Old Song Family’s saviors. Then, it would only be natural for them to move into the Song household and continue living their lives as the pampered young master and miss.

What was there to fear about the world falling apart? They would just keep on mooching.

It was a good plan, but unfortunately, some idiots from a rescue team suddenly showed up wanting to register people.

To protect the meager food supplies left in the house, Li Dawei made the desperate move of letting his zombie grandparents out.

"What is it?" Zhao Yingying asked, walking over to Li Dawei with a confused expression. "What video?"

The moment the video started playing, Zhao Yingying’s eyes flew wide. She clapped a hand over her mouth, her face a mask of disbelief.

"Is all of that true?" Old Mrs. Song asked, clutching Song Kexin’s hand.

Song Kexin nodded. "Grandma, Grandpa, it’s chaotic out there right now. We should stay home for the time being. My sister said the authorities will send people to evacuate us to a safer place later on. So for now, the safest thing to do is to just hole up at home and wait."

Old Mrs. Song clutched Song Kexin’s hand, practically on pins and needles. "Then what about your uncle and your aunt? Are they safe?"

Song Kexin squeezed the old woman’s hand reassuringly. "Grandma, don’t worry. My aunt just sent a message in the family group chat telling them to get here as quickly as possible."

"If that’s not possible, we’ll figure out another way."

"Have you notified Junjun? Has he responded?"

"Once we’ve finished reinforcing the entire yard, I’ll go get Junjun myself," Xie Ning said as she, Song Youzhi, and Song You’ai entered the main hall.

Song You’ai closed the door behind them, looking surprised. "Ningning, you’re going to Su City to get Junjun?"

Xie Ning nodded. "Mom, I’ve had this planned for a while. We can talk about it later."
