"Gu Chen, you..." Yang Yiling was stunned by the punch, and beads of sweat broke out on his forehead from the pain.

"From this moment on, I am taking over command of everyone in B-Team. Whether its members live or die will have nothing to do with you," Gu Chen said, his face cold and his every word striking and forceful.

’Over a hundred people set out on this mission, and now a quick glance reveals only twenty-something survivors?’

"Gu Chen," Yang Yiling snarled, looking up at him through gritted teeth. "On what grounds?"

"On the grounds of this transfer order, personally signed by Mr. Wu." Lu Wei strode forward and pulled a sheet of A4 paper from his pocket.

The red seal on the page was stark and glaring.

THUMP! Without warning, Yang Yiling collapsed and fell unconscious.

Xie Ning, still in her big helmet, quickly hopped back a step to avoid him, not wanting to get blamed for his fall.

’No way. He looks like a big guy, but he was literally angered into fainting by Xiao Gu?’

’His constitution is just pathetic.’

"Captain Gu, is this for real?" Wang Bingwu from B-Team stepped forward excitedly, leaning in to look at the transfer order.

Black text on a white background—it was the real deal. Wang Bingwu started to grin, but the movement pulled at a cut on his face, making him wince in pain.

"Go back and get your wounds cleaned up," Gu Chen ordered, while mentally calculating that he’d need to find more vehicles for these B-Team members.

Yang Yiling was unconscious, and they couldn’t just leave him to sleep in a pile of zombies.

With a look of disgust, Gu Chen had his men carry him back as well, just to dump him on the roadside to air out.

When Xie Ning ran back to her mother’s side still wearing the huge helmet, Song You’ai nearly burst out laughing.

"Why are you wearing such a thick helmet?" Song You’ai asked, tapping it with her hand. It was solid, and she couldn’t tell what it was made of.

"It’s great. Xiao Gu gave it to me." Xie Ning decided she would, as a matter of course, keep the helmet and military-grade flashlight Xiao Gu had given her.

’You can’t buy stuff like this on the open market.’

"Is everything resolved?" Song You’ai asked with a smile.

"Yeah, the zombies in the tunnel up ahead are all cleared out. We can get back on the road soon," Xie Ning said, letting out a weary yawn.

"That’s good, that’s good. You’ve been busy for so long. Quick, get in the car and get some rest," Song You’ai urged, trying to get her to go sleep in their vehicle.

As for Gu Chen, with three missions successfully and completely resolved, he was in a relatively good mood.

As long as he didn’t have to look at Yang Yiling, who was still passed out on the side of the road.

Lu Wei, knowing his "brother’s" temper, specifically had someone move Yang Yiling farther away to keep him out of sight...

The men from B-Team were squatting in a circle, wolfing down crackers and gulping water. All the young guys looked like they were starving, a truly pathetic sight.

Once his stomach was mostly full, Wang Bingwu found Gu Chen to report what had happened.

He’d barely gotten two sentences out before the big, burly man started to shed tears.

"We could have turned around and left at the very beginning."

"It was that bastard Yang Yiling’s terrible decision-making. He insisted we push forward, which forced all of us to get trapped in the tunnel."

"After that, the zombie horde grew larger and larger, and the situation started to spiral out of control."

"Captain Gu, you didn’t see what they did to our brothers... how badly they were mauled."

The dead would stagger back to their feet, and the living, hearts breaking, had to grit their teeth and kill their own brothers. It was just... tragic.

At the critical moment, if Qiangzi hadn’t suddenly manifested a strange "Earth Tomb Skill," they would have all met their end in the Tongjiang Tunnel.

With a cold expression, Gu Chen listened until Wang Bingwu finished, then turned to Lu Wei. "Did you record all of that?"

Lu Wei nodded.

"Write up a report and submit it to Mr. Wu."

’That rich kid from the Old Yang Family gets parachuted in after a few years of studying abroad, submits a few papers, and suddenly acts like he’s some military genius.’

’Looking down on this person and that person... How could someone like him possibly lead soldiers?’

Gu Chen raised a hand and patted Wang Bingwu’s shoulder. "From now on, we’re all family. There’s no difference between us."

Wang Bingwu nodded emphatically.

"Lu! Lu! That little translator from R Country is back again."

Gu Chen started to go over and give him a piece of his mind, but Lu Wei quickly held him back. "I’ll go, I’ll handle it."

’If I let my brother go over there, it’d be a disaster. He’d probably tear the guy down so badly he’d start questioning his own existence inside of three sentences.’

Gu Chen snapped, "Don’t waste time talking to him. Just get rid of him. We’re leaving soon."

"Right, right," Lu Wei agreed, quickly trying to calm his brother down.

"Xiao Gao, help Lu register the Superpower Users from B-Team," Gu Chen said, turning and grabbing a random subordinate for the task.

"Xiao Meng, take a couple guys and go talk to the civilians. See if the B-Team members can hitch a ride with them."

’There are twenty-six or twenty-seven of them in B-Team. Can’t just have them run alongside the cars...’

’That seems a little too cruel.’

"Yes, Captain!" The two younger team members accepted their orders and hurried off.

Whether it was from running around trying to find a vehicle or from talking to so many people, the translator in the white suit looked even more haggard.

He had huge, dark circles under his panda eyes, and his entire demeanor was shot. He looked like he was about to collapse...

Lu Wei was taken aback. He hadn’t seen the man in two hours, but the translator looked as if he’d aged five years in that time.

But Lu Wei’s job didn’t allow him to do that.

"Alright, why don’t you wait here for a moment? We’ll go consult with the civilians again."

"We’re counting on you, then." The translator was genuinely panicking now.

He never expected that after begging every single person he could, he would be met with such cold indifference. No one was willing to lend a hand.

Especially when people heard the group from R Country chattering away in gibberish, they became even less willing to help.

Half an hour later, Xiao Meng and his men had finished negotiating with several vehicle owners.

Talk about a difference in treatment. All Xiao Meng’s group had to do was negotiate for a few moments, offering some supplies in exchange for a ride.

As a result, not only was everyone willing to give them a ride, they were practically fighting over who would take them.

But when the topic of bringing along their "friends" from R Country came up, everyone became extremely reluctant.
