Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

"That’s right!" A calculating look flashed in Li Xiang’s eyes as she nodded. "Your Song Family should be responsible for my brother and me from now on."

"After all, your Xie Ning killed our grandparents! A life for a life!"

"Yeah, a life for a life! We’re not even asking you to pay with your lives, just to take care of us. What’s wrong with that? You’re getting off easy!"

Nearby, Song Youzhi, with his incredible strength, dug a pit next to the Li family’s villa and buried the three zombies. He also easily cleaned up the organs that had spilled all over the ground.

He then covered the pit with half a cartload of soil and straw, completely masking the smell of blood.

Just as he finished, he heard Li Xiang and Li Dawei shouting at his niece like they were putting on a coordinated act. Song Youzhi swung his shovel at Li Dawei’s head.

"Who are you trying to scare? Your grandparents were zombies. So what if they were killed?"

Li Dawei quickly shrank back. "Uncle Song, what are you doing? Are you trying to kill us, too?"

"You two little bastards! I’ll teach you a lesson on behalf of your dead parents!" Song Youzhi threatened the Li siblings, deliberately smacking his shovel against the ground.

Seeing Song Youzhi’s immense strength—he had created a large crater in the ground with a single smack of the shovel—Li Dawei and his sister turned pale with fright.

"Wh-what do you think you’re doing?" Li Xiang grabbed her brother’s arm, and the two of them stumbled backward.

"I’ll beat you little bastards to death! Trying to extort my niece? You’re asking for it!" Song Youzhi brandished his shovel and chased after the siblings.

"You were used to leeching off your grandparents, and now you want to latch onto our Ningning and leech off your neighbors? You shameless scum! You wanna leech? I’ll give you something to leech on!"

Terrified, Li Dawei and Li Xiang turned and fled in a panic.

Song Youzhi chased them for two steps before stopping. He pointed at the Li family’s gate and cursed, "Freaks! How can there be such one-of-a-kind freaks like you in this world!"

’A whole nest of scum,’ he thought. ’What kind of fantasy are they living in?’

"Uncle." Xie Ning, looking amused, called out to him. "Let’s head back for now."

Song Youzhi turned around, shovel in hand. He spat angrily and muttered under his breath, "Good thing Xinxin didn’t see those two."

’Otherwise, she would’ve lunged at Li Xiang and tried to tear her apart...’

"Uncle, I remember we had a lot of stuff left over from when we repaired the courtyard. Are there any steel plates?"

"Yeah. Do you need big ones or small ones? What for?"

"Later, I want to see if I can use my Gold Ability to install the steel plates on our courtyard gate."

"You think those two little bastards will try to break in at night, so you want to reinforce the gate?"

"I’m afraid it might not be that simple..."

Xie Ning and Song Youzhi talked as they walked, their pace gradually quickening.

Li Dawei and Li Xiang furtively glanced out the window, then started cursing loudly. "Who does he think he is?"

"Acting all high and mighty, wanting to teach us a lesson on behalf of our parents."

"Pah!" Li Dawei slammed his fist down, unexpectedly punching a hole in the windowsill.

"Brother." Li Xiang’s eyes widened in astonishment. "You...?"

She quickly pulled out her phone and looked at a text message. "Could it be like what the message said? A genetic mutation... have you developed a superpower?"

"For real?" Li Dawei’s expression turned ecstatic.

"I’ve become a Superpower User?" Overjoyed, Li Dawei broke into a wide grin and laughed out loud. "Ha, haha, ha?"

He looked down at the deep crater in the windowsill, then turned, picked up a porcelain cup, and squeezed it gently.

CRACK. The porcelain cup shattered into pieces in his hand.

"Ha, hahaha!" Li Dawei laughed, bursting with pride. "I’m a Superpower User, too!"
