Seraphina’s POV

The question lingered in the suffocating silence for what felt like an eternity.

Everything I had bottled up for years erupted in that single, resounding slap. Every moment of being overlooked, dismissed, and treated like I didn’t matter culminated in the sting across Roxanne’s cheek.

My eyes locked onto Roxanne again. Those familiar moonstones caught the light around her throat, mocking me.

"What just happened?" My voice trembled with the rage that had driven my palm across her face.

"She stole them. She actually stole my entire moonstone collection." I raised an unsteady finger toward the gleaming jewelry adorning her neck and wrist.

I whirled to face him. "The set you commissioned for me, Julian. She rifled through my belongings and took everything."

Roxanne’s tears, manufactured and perfectly timed, made her eyes shimmer as she widened them in wounded innocence.

"How could you accuse me of such a thing? Seraphina, you’re obviously deflecting from your own violent behavior. You can’t assault people just because jealousy is eating you alive. Mother, Father, please tell her the truth. Explain that these were your thoughtful gift to me!" Her voice pitched dramatically higher, designed to elicit maximum sympathy from everyone watching.

Before I could formulate any defense, before the words could even take shape in my throat, my parents moved forward in perfect synchronization. Their united front spoke volumes about where their loyalty resided.

"Seraphina, you’re being absolutely ridiculous," my mother Luna declared, her tone dripping with exasperation as if she were addressing a petulant toddler mid-tantrum. "We already explained this situation to you. These exquisite pieces were our belated birthday surprise for Roxanne. We selected them specifically because we understand her appreciation for rare, distinctive jewelry."

"Absolutely correct. We decided Roxanne deserved something genuinely extraordinary." My father’s emphatic nod accompanied his stern expression, broadcasting his unwavering support for his clearly favored daughter. "Your accusations of theft are completely unacceptable, Seraphina, particularly following your physical assault on your sister."

The deception was breathtaking. This wasn’t merely choosing sides; this was active participation in rewriting reality to paint Roxanne as the victim.

They stared at me like I had completely lost touch with reality, as though these vivid memories were elaborate delusions I had constructed.

But I hadn’t imagined any of it.

Someone else in this room knew exactly what had transpired.

"Julian," I called out, my voice slicing through the tension with unexpected sharpness. Those distinctive golden eyes, which had been surveying the chaos around us, snapped to meet mine with laser focus.

"You remember these pieces, don’t you? This entire moonstone collection. The one you personally commissioned for my eighteenth birthday celebration, right after our engagement became official." My voice fractured on that final phrase, the agonizing memory of our hasty, arranged union suddenly searing through me. "Each stone features a custom cut, a completely unique design. They’re absolutely unmistakable."

The silence that descended was so oppressive it seemed to steal the oxygen from my lungs. Every person present, including Nolan with his venomous glare, turned their attention to Julian. His expression remained unreadable momentarily, his jaw clenched tight, his gaze shifting from Roxanne’s throat to her wrist where the matching bracelet now sparkled mockingly.

Then he spoke. His voice resonated with deep authority that immediately silenced even my mother’s forming objection. "She’s absolutely correct."

My heart performed a painful, victorious leap in my chest.

"That moonstone collection," Julian continued, his stare now ice-cold as it fixed on Roxanne before moving to my parents, "was custom ordered directly from Silverwood Jewelers. The design is completely one-of-a-kind. I personally selected each individual moonstone. It was specifically created as Seraphina’s engagement gift."

He paused deliberately, his penetrating gaze sweeping across my parents’ faces. "To suggest otherwise constitutes a grave insult."

Roxanne’s carefully constructed performance wavered, genuine fear flickering briefly in her eyes before being quickly masked by fresh indignation.

My parents, for the first time I could remember, appeared genuinely stunned.

But Nolan, Roxanne’s perpetually misguided champion, refused to surrender. He pushed forward again, bypassing Julian’s earlier physical barrier.

"Wait just a damn minute," he interrupted aggressively, his voice escalating with desperate determination to control the narrative. "Jewelry designs overlap constantly. You can’t simply claim ownership of something because it resembles a piece you once owned. This represents another one of Seraphina’s manipulative schemes. She’s harbored jealousy toward Roxanne for years, consistently attempting to sabotage her happiness!"

He thrust an accusatory finger in my direction, his features contorting with rage. "And now you’re trying to frame Roxanne for theft? After you already physically assaulted her? This isn’t your first time striking her, is it, Seraphina? You’re an unstable, dangerous woman, and you’ve repeated this violent behavior tonight."

All color drained from my face. Previous attacks? He was manufacturing complete lies. This marked the first time I had ever laid a hand on her. He was deliberately distorting everything, painting me as some kind of habitual abuser because I had slapped him before leaving previously.

Before I could process his words completely, before I could mount any defense against such horrific accusations, Julian exploded into motion.

A feral snarl erupted from his throat, the unmistakable sound of an enraged alpha’s fury unleashed. One instant, Nolan was sneering triumphantly at me. The next, Julian’s fist connected with his jaw in a bone-crushing impact.

Nolan staggered backward, his head whipping sideways, shock and agony flooding his eyes as he collided with a decorative side table, sending an ornate vase crashing to the floor in countless pieces.

Julian pressed his advantage relentlessly. He surged forward, those golden eyes blazing with murderous intent, his entire being radiating dangerous, primal energy.

"How dare you address your Luna with such disrespect?" he bellowed, his voice reverberating through the entire room. He seized Nolan by his shirt collar, hauling him upward while drawing back his other fist, clearly preparing to deliver a lethal blow. "How dare you use that word to describe her? You’ll pay with your life for that insult, because I misjudged your character initially, but this behavior is completely unacceptable."

The atmosphere crackled with raw power emanating from Julian. Nolan’s face became a mask of absolute terror, blood beginning to flow from his split lip.

"Don’t do this! Please!"

He hesitated, those blazing golden eyes meeting mine for one crucial moment. The distraction created the opening I needed.

"The engraved initials," I gasped desperately, redirecting his attention back to the central issue, my voice strained with urgency. "Roxanne! Show everyone the initials!"

My gaze snapped to Roxanne, delivering both a final plea and an undeniable challenge.

"Silverwood Jewelers engraves every custom piece they create. They’re inscribed on the necklace clasp and the bracelet’s underside. My initials are there." My voice dropped to a cutting whisper that sliced through the heavy silence. "Show them."
