Alpha's Regret: Claiming My Stolen Twins

Seraphina’s POV

The sight of him hit Seraphina like a physical blow to her stomach. His face had aged, grown harder around the edges, but there was no mistaking the man who had shattered Penelope’s heart and tormented Seraphina for years.

Behind her, Seraphina heard a sharp gasp. Penelope.

Nolan’s gaze was fixed entirely on Penelope, not on Seraphina. He moved forward one careful step, his hand beginning to rise as though he might reach out to touch her.

Penelope made another broken sound and immediately pressed herself against Seraphina’s side, seeking protection. Seraphina could feel every muscle in Penelope’s body coiled tight, ready to flee or fight.

For just an instant, Seraphina caught something unexpected in Nolan’s expression. Genuine remorse. A deep, hollow sadness that made him look like the boy Penelope had once loved. A small, foolish part of Seraphina almost pitied him when she saw that raw pain.

But then she looked at Penelope’s face, drained of color and set like stone. Seraphina remembered everything Nolan had done. How he had chosen Roxanne over Penelope, disrespecting Seraphina to elevate his new choice.

Any trace of sympathy evaporated. Cold fury took its place.

Seraphina shifted slightly forward, placing herself more directly between Nolan and Penelope. Her eyes narrowed to slits. "What are you doing here, Nolan?" The question came out low and threatening.

Nolan slowly dropped his raised hand, finally pulling his attention away from Penelope to meet Seraphina’s stare. He straightened his shoulders, attempting to project authority.

"I serve as Beta of the Nebula Fang," he announced, his tone deliberately neutral.

Seraphina nodded slowly as understanding dawned. "Naturally. What better strategy for learning everything about a pack you plan to destroy than having their former Gamma fighting for you?" Her words dripped with contempt.

The past meant nothing to her right now. Only the present mattered.

"I wasn’t expecting to encounter you here," Seraphina continued, her voice growing stronger. "But that changes nothing. I’ve come because I am the new Alpha of this pack."

Something flickered across his features. Disbelief mixed with wariness.

"We’re aware," he replied. "Word reached us shortly after Alpha Dorian’s death."

"Excellent," Seraphina said simply. "So will you grant me entry willingly, or do we have a conflict?"

Nolan hesitated, choosing his next words with obvious care. He was attempting diplomacy, but Seraphina could sense his defenses rising.

"Alpha," he began, the title sounding strained on his tongue. "Everyone here genuinely mourns what befell our former Alpha. Such tragedy should never have occurred."

Seraphina waited. She knew the contradiction was coming.

"However, the reality is that the pack was marching toward destruction under his leadership," Nolan continued, his voice dropping lower. "There was no alternative to prevent catastrophe except his death."

Seraphina felt genuine surprise. They understood Dorian’s dangerous nature? They were grateful she had eliminated their corrupt leader?

But Nolan wasn’t finished.

"The fact that you ended Dorian’s life doesn’t automatically grant you our leadership," he stated, his authority hardening. "Alpha status must be earned through respect, not seized through violence."

His audacity was staggering. A surge of raw power coursed through Seraphina. She released her wolf’s energy outward, a crushing force that slammed into Nolan like an invisible wall.

Nolan gasped and staggered backward. His knees began to shake.

"Do you believe," Seraphina growled, her voice dropping into a dangerous register filled with her wolf’s primal authority, "that killing Dorian, something everyone here apparently failed to accomplish, doesn’t demonstrate the respect I’ve earned?"

He was struggling for breath now, bending slightly under the supernatural weight she had imposed on him.

"I have no personal issue with you," he managed to choke out, his eyes wide with shock at the sheer magnitude of her power. "But some pack members resist sudden leadership changes."

Seraphina increased the pressure. Nolan collapsed to one knee, clutching his chest.

"They will adapt," Seraphina declared, her voice resonating with absolute finality. "I am here permanently. I will guide this pack as Alpha. Now, as Beta, will you demonstrate acceptance, or will you issue a challenge?"

This time he didn’t hesitate. His face had gone pale, his submission complete. He lowered his head until his forehead touched the ground.

"Alpha," he whispered.

Seraphina released her supernatural grip. Normal breathing returned to the space, but the silence persisted.

"Good," she said, feeling her own pulse racing from the swift, brutal display of dominance. "Now guide us inside."

Nolan stood quickly and began walking ahead of them. As they entered the main pack territory, Seraphina looked around with surprise.

During her previous visit as a prisoner, she had never truly seen the place. It was stunning. The buildings were constructed from smooth, warm gray stone, and everything was meticulously maintained. Even this late in the season, large, well-tended gardens flourished. The pack house itself was an enormous, majestic structure crowning a gentle hill.

But something felt wrong. The silence was too profound. Unnaturally quiet.

"Where is everyone?" Seraphina asked, stopping on the pathway. The emptiness was disturbing. It felt like the entire pack was hiding.

"They are staying out of sight, Alpha," Nolan said, his movements still rigid.

The pack hall matched the exterior’s grandeur. At the front of the room, elevated on a platform, stood a massive throne-like chair. Clearly designed for Dorian.

Seraphina walked directly to it and sat down.

The chair felt enormous and solid beneath her, a symbol of the authority she now wielded. She closed her eyes briefly. She couldn’t appear weak or uncertain. She needed to project complete control. She allowed her wolf to dominate her thoughts, smoothing away any remaining human doubt, making her posture rigid and commanding.

She waited.

Gradually, they began arriving.

They entered slowly, hundreds of them. Most stared at the floor or walls, refusing to meet her gaze. They appeared uncomfortable, awkward, and clearly displeased that she occupied their Alpha’s throne.

Seraphina was accustomed to such reactions. People despised her for being different, powerful, unexpected. Their discomfort was irrelevant. They didn’t know her, and their hatred couldn’t wound her.

The pack hall filled steadily. Seraphina felt momentarily dizzy considering the sheer number of people now under her authority, depending on her leadership.

She quickly suppressed the feeling, refusing to appear overwhelmed.

When the final person entered, Seraphina straightened her spine. The great hall fell silent except for the collective sound of breathing.

Seraphina opened her eyes and surveyed the mass of hostile, uncertain faces. She spoke with a voice that was calm, clear, and powerful enough to fill the entire space.

"My name is Seraphina."

She paused, allowing the simple name to register. Then she began listing her titles, each one a decisive blow of authority and bloodline.

"I am the daughter of Luna Viviana and Alpha Maxwell of the Solstice Fang."

Whispers broke out, quickly silenced by Nolan’s stern glare from his position at the side.

"I am the biological daughter of Alpha Victor of the Ruined Fang."

More tension rippled through the crowd. Her bloodlines were complex, complicated, and undeniable.

"I am the Luna of the Zenith Fang, and mate to Alpha Julian."

That declaration sparked a reaction. The Zenith Fang’s power was well known.

Seraphina took a deep breath, allowing the weight of her final title to settle before speaking the most difficult part of her introduction.

"I am also the half-sister of Dorian, your former Alpha."

She leaned forward slightly, gripping the throne’s armrests. She looked directly into the uncertain eyes of her new pack.

"And I am now your Alpha."
