Alpha's Regret: Claiming My Stolen Twins

Seraphina’s POV

This was one of those rare, treasured moments when everything felt absolutely right with the world.

"Mommy!" Elena’s delighted shriek echoed through the room as Theo chased her in circles around the coffee table.

Mommy. The word still sent warmth spreading through my chest every time she said it. Her voice held such innocent joy, such complete trust. It was music I never wanted to stop hearing.

Theo’s laughter filled the space between us, rich and carefree. My beautiful boy, my anchor in every storm. He tackled Elena gently, both of them dissolving into giggles on the carpet.

A familiar hollow ache twisted in my chest then. Julian should be here. My wolf stirred restlessly, yearning for her mate with a pain that never quite faded. I hated admitting how much I missed him, how the anger felt easier when I knew he was somewhere within pack borders instead of completely absent.

But today I pushed that darkness away. Today I chose to embrace the light surrounding me.

My mother watched Elena from her chair, her typically rigid expression melting into something tender and genuine. Beside her, Maxwell appeared equally captivated by the children, his stern features softened by unexpected fondness.

The kitchen filled with heavenly aromas as Ma and Pa worked their magic, preparing what would undoubtedly be the most incredible muffins ever created. I was already planning to hoard them all for myself.

Perfect didn’t begin to describe this afternoon. It felt almost too good to be real, like a fragile dream I desperately wanted to preserve forever.

Of course, nothing beautiful in my life ever lasted long.

Holden’s urgent voice slammed into my mind through the pack link, shattering my peace like glass. "Luna, scouts have detected suspicious movement along our borders. We believe it’s Dorian."

My blood turned to ice. Dorian. That name alone was enough to make every instinct scream danger, to set my nerves ablaze with protective fury.

"Everyone!" My voice cut through the laughter with sharp authority. "We need to get to the pack house immediately."

My mother’s gentle expression vanished, replaced by cold understanding. Maxwell straightened, his relaxed posture transforming into alert readiness. Ma and Pa rushed from the kitchen, flour still dusting their aprons, worry etched across their faces.

"What’s wrong, Seraphina?" my mother demanded quietly.

"Dorian." That single name carried all the explanation needed. "Suspicious movement near our borders. We can’t take chances. Everyone moves to the pack house now." My heart thundered against my ribs like a caged animal. I needed them all close, where I could watch them, where I could shield them from whatever was coming.

The pack house thrummed with controlled chaos when we arrived. Warriors assembled with grim determination, weapons passed from hand to hand with practiced efficiency. I settled Theo and Elena with the family in the main room before sprinting toward the command center.

Caleb stood hunched over tactical maps, his usually cheerful demeanor replaced by stone-cold focus.

"Luna Seraphina," he began without looking up, "perimeter security has been doubled at every checkpoint. Every capable warrior is armed and positioned. Patrol teams are conducting sweeps for any anomalies."

I circled the table, studying our territory’s layout with growing frustration. "That’s standard procedure, Caleb, but it won’t be enough." My finger traced the borders on the map. "Every pack Dorian has destroyed was prepared. They followed protocol, implemented defenses, stayed ready. But he always finds the weakness, always strikes where they’re not expecting. We need something completely different."

Holden and Caleb exchanged concerned glances. "What are you thinking, Luna?" Holden asked, his brow creased with worry. "We’ve activated every defense protocol we know."

"Keep doing exactly what you’re doing," I told them with finality. "I’ll handle the rest." I didn’t wait for questions or arguments. I already knew what had to be done.

I found my mother attempting to distract Elena with toys in the living area.

"Mother." My voice carried quiet urgency. "We need to talk. Right now."

I guided her away from curious eyes and listening ears, into an alcove beside an unused stone fireplace where ancient walls would swallow our conversation.

"Mother," I whispered intensely, "you mentioned I could create a protective barrier covering the entire pack territory. Something that would prevent anyone who isn’t pack from entering." The memory of that lesson burned bright in my mind, and I needed to know if it was truly possible.

Fear flickered across her features, the kind of fear that came from caring too much. She’d made it clear that my abilities posed as much danger to me as to anyone else. "Yes, Seraphina. You have that power. But it would demand absolute concentration and complete commitment. Most importantly, it would likely drain your entire energy reserves. You would lose consciousness."

My pulse hammered harder. "For how long?"

Her hesitation told me everything I didn’t want to hear. "I cannot say how long. And unconsciousness might be the least of your concerns. You could slip into a deep coma. This would be far beyond anything you’ve attempted before. The risk is enormous, Seraphina."

"The risk doesn’t matter," I said, my voice breaking with raw emotion. "If there’s already suspicious activity, Dorian could strike any moment. He might be watching us right now. My children..." The words caught in my throat. "My children could be hurt. I will never allow that to happen again. I already lost Elena once before I could hold her, I lost my father, I lost my baby. I cannot lose anyone else."

She could see the absolute determination in my face, the decision already made regardless of her approval. With a heavy sigh of resignation, she nodded. "Then you must focus completely, Seraphina. Channel every piece of your being into this. Visualize it clearly and feel it with your entire soul."

I stepped outside and planted my feet firmly on the earth. Closing my eyes, I summoned a perfect mental image of our territory: the pack house, every dwelling, training facilities, forest trails, the winding river. I saw each tree, every stone, every precious life sheltered within these boundaries.

Extending my arms, palms facing each other, I began slowly spreading them outward like I was embracing the entire world.

Power awakened within me, humming with electric intensity. Invisible energy pulsed outward, making the very air vibrate. The ground beneath me responded to my will, trembling with anticipation.

I envisioned an unbreachable dome forming over everything I held dear. This wasn’t merely a thought or wish, it was a desperate command, a primal roar from the deepest part of my soul. Energy blazed through my veins like molten fire, pushing against every limit I’d ever known. My vision blurred and stars exploded behind my eyelids, but I refused to surrender.

I poured harder, channeling every fragment of my existence into this singular purpose. The barrier solidified around us, strengthening and thickening with pure, unshakeable will. It felt like wrapping an enormous, invisible shield around everything I loved, securing it completely, making it untouchable.

My body convulsed, every muscle crying out in agony as the last drops of my life force flowed into the protective shell.

Then everything drained away, leaving me empty and cold.

My knees gave out.

Darkness claimed me.
