Kira’s POV
After the intense training earlier that day, I went back home, thinking about my spar with Damien and the sudden surge of energy that had enveloped Me.
I hoped that Ryker would be able to find something about my lineage. Hopefully, that might explain a lot of things.
I lay restless in my bed; my body was aching, and my mind was refusing to be quiet. When sleep finally claimed me, it was nothing but peaceful; it was far from peaceful.
My dreams pulled me into a strange, otherworldly forest bathed in the soft, silver glow of a crescent moon. Shadows moved between the trees, there were echoes of distant howling. The sounds sent chills through my spine.
I felt drawn to and, at the same time, wary of the figure surrounding my dark, wolf-like forms with glowing eyes. The dream felt too vivid to be mere imagination, as though it carried a message I was meant to uncover.
In my dream, I found myself in an open field, standing under a vast silver moon; before me, were two wolves. One was shrouded in shadows, and their eyes were gleaming like embers, and the other one had a radiant light that shined through the darkness around it.
Something strange happened; the two wolves began to circle each other. In what seemed to look like a dance, neither of them attacking nor retreating; it was as if they were locked in an eternal struggle.
Then, suddenly, the dream took a different turn. In this dream, I stood in a vast clearing bathed in moonlight, where an ancient artefact rested on a pedestal of stone.
As I moved closer to the artefact it glowed faintly with a silvery light. I took a step backwards, and its glow stopped, but when I moved closer, it glowed again.
The artefact glow seemed to pulse in time with my heartbeat. Around this artefact werewolves with luminous eyes, their growls low and warning. As she stepped closer. As I got closer a calm yet commanding voice filled the air, talking to me directly.
But just before I could hear what he was saying I woke up from the dream.
"Oh my gosh", I lamented "What kind of a dream was that?" I muttered to myself.
I tried to sleep back to see if I could continue the dream from where I stopped but I couldn’t.
I wondered why the dream changed from the first into the second, I had many questions, but there was no one to ask.
I decided to sleep back, hoping that I might continue the dream; surprisingly, the dream continued, but it wasn’t exactly where it had stopped.
"This must not fall into the wrong hands; if it does, it can cause a lot of damage to the wolf world." The voice said
"Please tell me, what kind of an artefact is this."
"This artefact is the most precious thing in this world," he said
"Just tell me what kind of an artefact is it" I lamented
Just as he was about saying it I woke up from the dream again. I tried to sleep back, but I couldn’t.
I stayed awake till it was daybreak. I stood up to go about my morning duties. I noticed something strange on my palm, like a drawing.
I raised my palm close to my eyes to take a good look at the diagram that was on it, and I was shocked to see a diagram of the crescent moon, exactly the way I had seen it in my dream.
’What’s this’
The crescent moon was silvery, just like in the dream, and another surprising thing about it was that it tingled as well; it was as if it was alive.
Confused, not knowing what to do I ran out of my home and headed towards Alpha Ryker’s
******
"Please I want to see the alpha" I begged
"It’s too early," The wolf guard said
"I am sorry, I know, but please, I need to see him now."
"The alpha is still resting." The guard said.
Just as I was about to go back I heard him say "It’s fine let her in"
Immediately I ran inside.
"What’s the matter," Ryker asked
I raised my hands and showed him the crescent room etched on my palm.
He came closer taking a good look at it.
"Did you draw this..." he asked
"No, no I didn’t" I took a deep breath "I had a dream and I saw this when I woke this morning I found out it was on my palm already"
"Are you serious about what you are saying?" He asked surprised
"Do I look like someone who would lie about a thing like this?" I said sadly
"No, Kira that’s not what I meant"
"Do you know why this is on my palm or what it means"
"Walk me through the dream," He said firmly
I began to tell him about the dream starting from the very first to the last.
Ryker stood up abruptly
"Where are you going to" I asked
"We have to go see one of the park elders he would know about things like this" Ryker said
I stood immediately following behind him.
******
"Elder Anthony, please, we need your help", Ryker said, Bowing his head.
"Oh my dear, I feel honoured it’s not every day an old man like me gets to see the faces of young people like you and not just any random young person but an alpha" the elder said smiling
Without wasting time, I showed him my palm, and with the expression he gave, I knew that he knew something about it.
"That’s a sign etched into the palms of moon keepers," he said
"What do you mean?" I asked
"Seeing that you have this on your palms, that means you must have had a dream, right?" The elder asked
I nodded, I told the elder about the dream. He smiled after hearing everything I had said
"May the goddess be praised?," He said, looking up "It’s been a while since the last keeper had gone into extinction.... my daughter, you have a great mission and destiny; you are meant to safeguard that relic you saw in your dream that’s what your ancestors have been doing." He said
"Ancestors? But how."
"The reason why it seems like you do not have a lineage is that your lineage is the Keeper’s lineage"
I became more confused, why me? What’s this about being the keeper?
