Victor needed new clothes, and by chance Aron had made an outfit a few days ago that would fit Victor’s large build, imagining that some tall, strong knight might show up at his store at the beginning of winter.

This outfit was a unique combination of strength and elegance. The fabric of the tunic was dense and resistant, able to protect against the biting wind of low temperatures while still allowing freedom of movement for combat.

In addition to the tunic, the outfit had an overcoat in a dark shade capable of blending in perfectly with the night, with leather details on the edges and a high collar to protect the neck from the cold, not to mention the metal meshes at the top to help protect it.

The pants were robust and flexible, which would still allow Victor to make quick movements.

Reinforced leather boots completed the basic part of the outfit, guaranteeing stability even on the most slippery surfaces, from the icy streets of Klento to the tops of snowy mountains. For this outfit, Aron had thought of every detail, from the strategically placed pockets for storing essential items to the sturdy zippers that ensured the outfit stayed in place during combat.

As he looked in the mirror, Victor put on his new gloves, both leather and with metal bracelets to help protect his forearms.

"And that’s not all, my friend." Aron said and put something over Victor’s back, a new cape.

Victor adjusted the new dark wool cloak over his shoulders, feeling the instant warmth it provided. The garment had been skillfully made by Aron and had white wolf fur on the shoulder pads, which happened to match Victor’s white hair perfectly.

"This cloak is resistant to any extreme cold, has an inner silk lining for comfort and leather details on the collar to add a touch of style as well as durability," explained Aron with a proud expression. He knew he had done a good job.

"It fits perfectly." Victor said as he looked at himself in the mirror.

"If I had a few more days, I could make something perfect for you, in your molds and measurements." said Aron, with a tone of self-criticism usual in craftsmen dedicated to their art.

Victor smiled, adjusting the cape with a gentle gesture. "Aron, that’s already perfect."

With a nod, Aron agreed. "All right, all right, but when you want something made for you, come to me. Now, let’s go to my office, I want to know what you’ve been up to and I’ll tell you everything I know about Garret Darksoul and his henchmen."

Aron’s office was a cozy space at the back of the store, a place full of shelves crammed with rolls of fabric.

Victor sat in a worn leather armchair, while Aron took a map of the city and spread it out on the table where he usually cut the fabrics.

"About Garret’s henchmen, these are the areas most frequented by them," explained Aron and with the tip of his finger he indicated the places where Garret’s collectors used to hang out. "They’re taverns, bars and brothels, who knows what else they do in these places. If you want to find Garret, he must be inside one of these places."

"Taverns and bars are indeed suspicious places, but brothels are not. You know, Aron." Victor said and then looked at the map again.

He studied the map for a moment and suddenly denied it with his head.

"No, going after him isn’t the best thing to do. Normally, I’d go to him to solve this problem quickly, but I arrived in town yesterday, I’m a guest at Selvarum Manor and I don’t want to bring trouble to them, because Garret isn’t someone who’s easily intimidated. So let him contact you and let me know."

"All right... But tell me, why do you still have a relationship with the Selvarums? Aren’t you worried after everything that woman did to you? Brave..." Aron said and looked away, as if trying to pretend it wasn’t him who had said that.

Victor’s gaze was lost for a moment in the dancing flames of the fireplace that warmed Aron’s office.

"Don’t worry, Aron, I’m at Selvarum Manor because Mari Dundragon, Luísa’s protégé, has been a great ally. She’s helping me solve a problem. Anyway, thank you for your concern," commented Victor with a touch of gratitude in his voice.

"All right, but if you want my advice, don’t let your guard down with Luísa Selvarum, she’s not innocent."

"I don’t have much choice at the moment, but thanks for the advice," replied Victor with a thoughtful expression.

"So, what do you plan to do now? Kill some monsters?"

Victor pondered for a moment. "Not yet, I think I’ve had my fill of action for today."

"Hahaha! I imagine so."

The two spent the next few hours immersed in conversation in Aron’s office. As the fire crackled in the background, Victor listened attentively to Aron’s concerns and the big news of the last twenty years, and then Aron listened carefully to Victor tell how he went from being a traveling hunter to becoming a father and tavern keeper.

Finally, when the clock on the wall struck the end of the afternoon, Victor stood up from the worn leather armchair. "Thanks for everything, Aron. I’ll be back soon to see how things are going."

"I’ll do my best to keep things in order around here, Victor."

"And if anything happens, you know where to find me."

The two said goodbye with a firm handshake and Victor left the store, wearing the new cape that Aron had made for him.

As he walked through the streets of Klento, the cold winter wind soon proved useless against the warm clothes Victor was now wearing.

On arriving at Selvarum Manor, Victor was greeted by the huge entrance hall, as large as a hall. Victor took off his cloak and put it in the coat rack, and meanwhile no one appeared.

Loneliness hung in the air, but suddenly a sound echoed, easing the emptiness in the wide corridors and silent rooms that afternoon, the sound of a piano key and then a soft melody began to echo throughout the mansion.

Victor immediately remembered the night before, when he had arrived at the mansion and had been enveloped by the same soft sound of the piano. So, taking advantage of the fact that Frugeon wasn’t around this time to watch his every move, Victor decided to follow the echo of the melody until he found its source.
