The Devourer of Ships was furious with Victor and began to focus all its attacks on him. The large green tentacles advanced towards Victor, who skillfully used his black sword to deal with them, slicing them open.

The monster’s blood splashed against the dark wood of the ship’s deck, painting it.

At the same time, the captain searched for something that could help Victor in his fight against the Devourer of Ships. Amidst the commotion on deck, two sailors brought out from inside the main cabin an old harpoon, a sturdy, sharp weapon that had been used a long time ago by the former owners of this ship, who were fishermen.

"Victor, take this!" shouted the captain, throwing the harpoon towards the hunter.

Victor grabbed the harpoon in the air, feeling the weight and firmness of it in his hands. It wasn’t exactly a spear as the captain said, but for piercing deep into the thick flesh of the Devourer of Ships it was much better than a sword and this was Victor’s best chance of stopping the extreme regeneration of this monstrous creature.

The Devourer of Ships, still shaken by hatred, didn’t stop its attacks for a moment, and so most of the sails were ripped apart, the main mast was hit and left to topple by a fraction and the entire deck began to be destroyed.

Victor then stuck his sword into the wooden floor of the ship, spun the harpoon with both hands while looking at the Devourer of Ships and started running towards it, which saw this action as a gesture of defiance, and indeed it was.

The sea monster used three of its tentacles to try and hit Victor. However, as he ran, Victor providentially dodged these blows, jumping and ducking. His movements were agile, and Victor took every opportunity to get close to the creature.

When one of the tentacles crashed violently into the wooden deck, creating a deep crack, Victor saw his chance and ran over the fallen tentacle, using it as a temporary walkway to get even closer to the monster’s head.

The sailors watched the scene from behind their makeshift hiding places and through the gaps in the doors where they hid and ecstatically cheered Victor on at that moment, their voices muffled by the roar of the winds and the crashing of the ocean waves.

The captain, with distressed eyes, shouted encouragingly to Victor: "You can do it!"

Victor thanked him for his support by increasing his pace as he drew ever closer to the target.

The Devourer of Ships, sensing his opponent’s advance, tried to somehow catch that troublesome human. The tentacles cut through the air like whips, but at that moment Victor was in the ZONE, the name given to the state of mind that warriors have created to describe when a warrior is totally focused and doesn’t even have to think to act. Victor ducked, jumped, dodged to the side, anticipating the monster’s every move.

Finally, Victor came close to the head of the Devourer of Ships. He saw the huge sharp fangs, the single eye glowing with rage and the creature’s thirst for destruction. With no time to lose, he leapt up and plunged the harpoon as hard as he could into both hands, aiming straight for the monster’s eye.

The harpoon pierced the thick skin of the Devourer of Ships with a deafening sound, causing the creature to let out a roar of pain that echoed across the seas to the nearby islands.

Victor grabbed onto the harpoon, using it as an anchor while the monster tried to struggle.

"Stand your ground, hunter!" shouted the captain. "It’s not over yet!"

Everything was rocking violently in that part of the sea, including Victor, but he didn’t flinch.

As the harpoon was already stuck in the monster’s eye, Victor pushed down and began tearing at the eye and skin of the Devourer of Ships. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

The sea monster shook violently, desperately trying to hit Victor to get rid of the pain. However, it was Victor who pulled the harpoon from inside the monster and then stuck it in again, piercing even deeper.

The intensely red and viscous blood gushed out, mixing with the salty water of the raging sea, and finally the Devourer of Ships’ strength began to fade. It even tried to use that area magic from before as a last act of desperation, but it was so badly hurt that it couldn’t.

One by one, the Devourer’s tentacles began to fall off, devoid of energy, and finally the monster’s head toppled backwards, crashing into the surface of the seawater.

For a second, the absence of the monster’s roars calmed everything around, including the sea.

Victor stood up and plunged the harpoon into the monster’s eye, but there was no further reaction. Finally, the Devourer of Ships was dead.

The grumpy captain, his eyes watering with emotion, could hardly believe that he had seen with his own eyes the Devourer of Ships being killed by that mysterious hunter. He could hardly believe his eyes.

"You did it, hunter! You managed to kill the Devourer of Ships!"

The sailors, seeing the outcome of the battle, came out of their hiding places and let out cries of relief and happiness.

"He really did it! Fuck!"

"I can’t believe it!"

"Who is he? Is he a Rank-A Hunter?"

"He’s our savior!!!"

"He’s old, does he want to marry my mother?!"

"We’ll have to pay for the best cachaça in Naeross for him!"

Victor, gasping for breath and covered in blood and sweat, looked at the harpoon in his hands. It was the weapon that had decided the fate of the battle, but it was nothing more than an old, rusty harpoon.

He looked back to where the sailors were gathered at the bow and smiled modestly, feeling the satisfaction of victory. "It was nothing more than my duty, but I’ll take a mug of mead!"

Suddenly, Victor felt water touch his feet and realized that the sea monster was sinking rapidly because of its enormous weight.

"Damn, I still have to get the brain Mari asked for." He muttered.
