The sphere of darkness that Gravisk created was a clearly brutal manifestation of its demonic power.

The atmosphere, previously filled with the sounds of battle, was completely enveloped by the thunderous noise produced by the movement of this sphere around itself. In itself, this magic seemed to be that whirlwind of souls compressed into a sphere two meters in radius and diameter.

The other combatants in the chamber, even in the midst of the chaos of the fights against the obsessing spirits, noticed the change and momentarily quietened down, directing their gazes to the confrontation between Victor and the demon.

Gravisk, its expression twisted by determination and anger, turned its gaze on Victor. "I want to see if you cancel that, human!"

The demon believed that this sphere of darkness was unstoppable, capable of annihilating any opponent, even a human who had resisted so many of its magical attacks.

However, Victor showed not the slightest sign of fear. He raised his sword, which still emitted a faint light from its handle, and held it out in front of his chest. His eyes focused on the sphere of darkness for an instant that seemed to last an eternity, until, in a fluid and sudden movement, Victor lunged forward.

"Not so fast!" Gravisk immediately threw the sphere he had prepared.

Victor saw the orb approaching rapidly and it literally cast a large shadow over his face, but Victor protected himself with his sword. The impact of his blade against the sphere of darkness was like two titans meeting in a devastating duel.

An explosion of magical energy reverberated through the cave, shaking everything and everyone.

The clash unleashed a shockwave that pushed all the obsessors and Victor’s companions back, creating a circle of distance around Victor and Gravisk.

However, the demon, stunned, soon saw its powerful magic being split and between the two identical parts that split, one to the left and one to the right, Victor Shieldman was standing, unharmed.

The parts of the sphere shattered into black fragments and scattered into the air.

Gravisk instinctively stepped back with all that confidence shaken by its opponent’s display of power.

"That... IT’S IMPOSSIBLE!" Gravisk exclaimed in terror.

Victor lowered his sword and sighed. "Gravisk, you’re in another age. The Age of Demons ended after the Age of Heroes, and now the Age of Heroes is over too. We’re in the Age of Hunters. In this new era, if you try to torment a village or a city, instead of all the citizens hiding behind their doors, they will try to fight, and that has made not only humanity, but all the races evolve."

Gravisk’s breathing was heavy with anger and its gaze was fixed on Victor.

"You don’t understand... You can’t..." He stammered, the remnants of his demonic arrogance mixed with the bewilderment of imminent defeat.

"Gravisk, let me make things clear one last time. You’re not as powerful as you think. The world has changed in the last fifteen years."

The demon, though shaken, would not give up. With a grunt of fury, it raised its staff with both hands, summoning the last reserves of its power.

Black flames danced around it as it prepared its last desperate trick.

"You can’t kill me, you insolent human! If I can’t beat you now, I’ll burn this whole cave to the ground until that cleric releases this barrier! You’re only human, you can’t regenerate, but I can!" Gravisk roared.

"No chance I’ll let you do it!" Victor stepped forward.

"Don’t get in my way anymore!" Annoyed, Gravisk fired a blast of dark energy towards Victor, but the human warrior was prepared and with one agile movement deflected the attack and advanced further. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"You don’t understand, Gravisk. Normally, I wouldn’t be able to defeat you. You have some pretty annoying tricks for someone on their own to deal with." Victor’s voice was calm, contrasting with the ferocity of the winds around him.

Gravisk took a few more steps back when it saw Victor advancing with such ease.

"But today I learned that I can’t be proud all the time, because the key to some victories lies in having companions."

With a desperate roar, Gravisk summoned a barrier between itself and Victor, a last-ditch attempt to protect itself from the final blow.

However, Victor threw himself against the barrier with his sword, cutting through it like paper, because Gravisk was already well worn out.

Victor’s blow went through Gravisk’s barrier with such surprising ease that it frightened the demon himself.

Even so, Gravisk, faced with imminent defeat, didn’t back down completely. Its demonic pride still shone in its eyes, even if they were overshadowed by the shadow of fear.

"FUCK YOU!" Gravisk roared with its voice echoing through the dark caverns.

Victor knew that Gravisk’s anger and pride were only masks for the fear that was consuming it and, when he finally reached it, he struck a sharp blow with his sword, cutting off one of its hands. Then he swung his sword again and made a huge cut on one of its legs, then another on its neck and so on.

Gravisk started screaming in pain and trying to grab Victor, but the white-haired hunter was getting faster and faster. Gravisk retreated a few steps with heavy breathing, because its regeneration was trying to recover, but Victor seized the moment and cut off another of Gravisk’s arms that was holding the staff.

From that second on, a succession of hundreds of blows began to tear Gravisk apart. Victor cut through the demon’s entire body, trying to find its last heart, until he finally found what he was looking for and his sword emitted a soft metallic clang.

The demon let out a shrill scream, but Victor didn’t weaken as a result, and used all his strength to cut out the steel heart.

Finally, Gravisk’s body began to give in to all the damage it had suffered, revealing Gravisk’s true form, a creature that looked more like a cloud of smoke than a living being.

With a last gasp of strength, Gravisk’s voice whispered one last thing to Victor:

"What... will happen to me now? I’m a necromancer, but... I’ve never bothered to find out what happens to demons after death... Is there... a place to go that awaits me after here?"

Victor made one last serene cut, slicing Gravisk’s third heart in half, and replied:

"I’d like to know too..."

The demon slowly disappeared, its essence dissolving into the air, and then the whole cave began to be silenced, because the obsessors suddenly stopped moving and began to slowly descend to the ground from which they had emerged.
