- Chapter 1: Don’t go...
The dungeon rat stood at the entrance of the room, sniffing the ground as if suspicious about something. For a moment, I thought the dungeon rat wouldn’t enter, but just as that thought manifested, the beast dashed into the room, and immediately it was caught in the sticky goo I created.
The dungeon rat struggled and fought, but the more it tried to get free, the more stuck it became.
Satisfied, I dropped down from the ceiling in front of the trapped monster while making sure it was aware of my presence.
SKREE!
Just as expected, the dungeon rat released a loud screech to alert the others of its kind. Immediately, the ground began to tremble slightly as an entire horde of dungeon rats charged towards the squealing rat.
Little did they know that this rat was leading them to their death. I quickly killed the rat by injecting it with my venom before returning back to hiding.
[You have leveled up to Level 8]
[+5 increase to all stats]
Soon, the entire horde of dungeon rats began pouring in, flooding the entire room. Their loud squeals echoed through the room as they were immediately trapped in the sticky goo. Some of them even tried to crawl on the walls to escape, but their efforts were fruitless since the walls were also covered with the goo.
I waited until the wave ended before I covered them all in acid. This caused them to screech even louder, which further attracted more dungeon rats. I could sense that more were coming, but they were quite a distance away.
All the while, the dungeon rats melted until nothing remained.
[EXP gained!]
[You have leveled up to level 8 and have gained 8 skill points]
[Strength 58 -> 132]
[Speed 46 -> 119]
[Defense 59 -> 133]
Since the dungeon rats had a title as ’monster’, with every one of them I killed, I gained a +2 increase in all stats. Having killed 37 dungeon rats, this meant all my stats increased by 74 points!
In one fell swoop, I had more than doubled my physical stats. On the forum, it claimed that the average stat for a human was 100 for speed and strength, while for defense, it was 50.
Looking at my stats, I couldn’t help but feel excited. I now had the strength of a human even though I was vastly smaller than one. I could run as fast as one too.
Without wasting a second, I began devouring all that remained of the dungeon rats.
With each rat I devoured, I gained 30 biomass, and the total number of dungeon rats I killed in this wave was 37, which meant I earned a total of 1,110 biomass!
Combined with the 331 biomass I had before, this meant I now had a whopping total of 1,441 biomass! This growth was incredible. I could never have gained this much biomass just from hunting the creatures in the forest.
If the other creatures capable of evolution, ever stopped hunting each other and focuses on dungeon monster then they could one day rival the strength of players. Coupled with the fact that this was only an F-ranked dungeon. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
I collected all 37 monster cores and placed them in my storage space. Afterwards, I readied myself once again for the incoming wave, except this time, I decided to stay on the ground and face them head-on.
More than biomass, I needed battle experience, and since this was a controlled environment, it was the perfect place to get it. If I found myself in danger, I could quickly retreat up the wall, which was still mostly covered in the sticky goo, while on the ground, the secretion was mostly gone.
I also had biomass, skill points, and different evolutions to help me out in case I was in real trouble. Simply put, I was safe, which made this the perfect place to develop my fighting skills and learn more about combat.
I watched as the first dungeon rat entered the room. The dungeon rat didn’t waste a second before attacking me. Its sharp claws danced against my exoskeleton, but all that resulted was the dungeon rat having its large claws chipped, and its attack didn’t even produce a scratch.
Without mercy, I injected the creature with my venom and watched as its entire body went stiff as a result before its heart finally stopped. Soon, more dungeon rats began to emerge from the tunnels leading into the room.
The dungeon rats couldn’t see, but their sense of smell and hearing more than made up for it. Two more rats emerged from the tunnels, and before they got the chance to attack, I sprayed acid into their faces.
The rats let out a loud squeal as they both crashed into the walls from the confusion caused by having acid sprayed in their faces. I then quickly injected both of the creatures with my venom before turning to face the other rats who had arrived at the same time.
Activating Serpentine Evasion, I weaved through their attacks while producing sharp spikes on my body to cut through their flesh. When it became overcrowded on the ground, I took to the air and flew above their heads.
With four consciousnesses working together in harmony, my mind was like a supercomputer. I could predict their attacks and come up with the perfect counter. If I made a mistake, it didn’t matter since the rats weren’t strong enough to break through my exoskeleton.
This allowed me to make mistakes in battle and learn from them without being killed. Using my wings, I activated my Sonic Attack skill, which was very effective since the rats had super hearing.
The sonic attack disoriented them, giving me the opportunity to spray them with acid. Hours later, over a hundred dungeon rat corpses lay at my feet, their bodies dissolved to the point where they were unrecognizable.
I felt a growing hunger rise from the depths of my stomach as I stared at the abundance of biomass in front of me. I could hardly control myself as I threw myself at the remains and filled my bottomless stomach.
Soon, when I was at the peak of my euphoria, a notification popped up that caused my bones to vibrate with joy.
