[20 biomass has been spent on dragonfly wings]
[This evolution requires molting]
A forced molt was immediately activated the moment I made the purchase. My body swelled in size, causing my hard exoskeleton to crack under the pressure. The sound of the obsidian cracking echoed through the empty space.
As my exoskeleton split apart, I slowly wriggled out, emerging anew. I was twice the size I was before, making me 24 inches. My entire body was wet and fragile, and I could feel an additional weight on my back.
Slowly, my figure began to darken as the obsidian grew from the base of my feet until it covered my entire body.
-Skill Evolution-
[Glide has evolved into the level 1 skill Flight]
[Lv. 1 Flight: By vibrating the wings on your back, the user is able to create a strong lift current and fly at 30 MPH]
[Lv. 1 Sonic Attack: By vibrating your wings at supersonic speeds, user can cause loss of hearing, nausea, or brain damage to foe]
The wings on my back were slightly dark in color but still remained translucent. They also seemed to reflect many colors at once, making them reminiscent of a rainbow. I quickly removed the stones covering the hole and gazed at the outside world.
It was early in the morning as the sun was about to rise, enveloping the morning sky in a bright orange glow.
[5 biomass has been spent to increase brain functions by 25%]
[Divided Consciousness has reached level 3, and you have gained 1 additional consciousness]
Having gained another consciousness, I decided to use it to focus solely on flying. I’ve realized that having 1 consciousness that specializes in a specific task makes me better at that task. With each consciousness I gained, it was like I gained 1 extra brain, and that brain’s sole job was to do the task I assigned it to without focusing on anything else.
I realized this after reading through the forum and seeing chats of players talking about the learning curve of learning a skill. Apparently, sometimes it takes them weeks or even more than a month of practicing to master a specific skill, but I do it instantly without even realizing.
When I first learned Acid Shot, I was able to take down multiple flies with pinpoint accuracy. For anyone else, they would need to learn how to aim before they could even hit a standing target, but I was able to hit flies who were trying to escape me, all because I had the equivalent of a brain whose sole job was to learn this skill and master it.
Taking a deep breath to steady my nerves, I opened the magnificent wings on my back. The feeling of the morning air against them was refreshing, and the wings began to vibrate.
My body felt lighter, and before I knew it, my feet were off the ground as I took flight and flew above the trees. My hypothesis was correct as flying felt natural, as if I was doing it my whole life. Not to mention, these wings were amazing!
I could stop and change direction instantly in the air without slowing down. I was even able to fly perfectly upside down.
A little below me, I spotted a worker bee going from flower to flower. Immediately as I thought about approaching the bee, my brain was able to predict the bee’s trajectory and calculate the quickest path towards the bee.
Following my instincts, I exploded towards the bee, cutting through the air like a well-thrown javelin, and in the next second, the bee was being pinched between my forcipules.
[1 biomass gained!]
Afterwards, I continued flying through the forest. For the first time, I got a great view of the forest surrounding me. It was a beautiful forest with tall trees and lush vegetation.
I spotted a few insects and animals as I flew, but strangely, there were no magical beasts or signs of people. I even flew past the dungeon I saw earlier.
How far away is civilization?
Curious, I decided to fly in a straight line until I exited the forest or saw any sign of life. I flew for over an hour, and there were no signs of human life or any other race for that matter. But just as I was about to lose hope and turn back, I spotted something strange just past the horizon.
The closer I went, the less vegetation I saw, and the ground began to change color. Even the air quality changed. The grass and trees were now an ashen shade of grey as if they were slowly withering away.
The ground itself was crimson, the same color of blood, but what bothered me most was the creatures that inhabited this land.
Worms...
Or at least they appeared to be, except most of these worms were at least 2 meters in length! And some were even bigger, stretching up to 5 meters.
From the power emanating from each and every one of those creatures, I could instantly tell that they were all magical beasts. I wouldn’t stand a chance against any of them.
Where the hell am I? Can I assume that everywhere surrounding this forest is covered in these creatures? It seemed to stretch for miles, so that is likely the case.
In studying about Vesperia on the forum, I’ve never once read about a place like this.
Maybe I can try asking a direct question?
For now, I decided to fly back to the rock formation and slipped through the small crevice before once again covering it with stones. Needing answers about what I had just seen, I quickly opened the forum and typed a question.
[ApexHunter101: Hello, I am a new player. I’m having trouble with my spawn point. The trees in the area have withered away, and the ground is red. There are even giant worm-like monsters nearby. Does anyone know this place?]
I had to wait a few minutes before the message was answered as it seemed as if no one was online. After around 5 minutes, a message popped up, only it wasn’t even properly addressed towards me.
