「The next day.」

Bai Su had just opened the shop, and before it was even noon, a huge crowd of people came swarming in.

They were all young people, mostly unfamiliar faces she’d never seen before. Trailing behind them were several personnel in white lab coats, with "Food Safety Administration" written on the breast pocket.

"Where’s the owner of this shop? Come out!" The leader, a Bear Beastman, was tall and brawny, and it was clear he hadn’t come with good intentions.

Bai Xiaolang and a few other young cubs had been in the courtyard setting up tables and chairs for the lunch rush. They all froze when they saw the group enter.

Bai Su came out from the kitchen. "I am. May I ask what this is about?"

Dealing with troublemakers was hardly a rare occurrence for a shop owner, and she was more than capable of handling such situations.

Bai Su was calm and composed, a warm smile on her face. As the saying goes, you can’t hit a smiling face; a cheerful grin can defuse a third of anyone’s anger.

The Bear Beastman froze when he saw Bai Su. As his gaze met her clear, bright eyes, the words he was about to say caught in his throat.

Bai Su had lost a lot of weight. Although she still weighed over 160 pounds, the outline of a true beauty was already beginning to show.

Her features were bright and delicate, with a high-bridged nose and large, sparkling eyes. Her cheeks were full and tender, and her rosy, plump lips held an inexplicable allure that could easily lead one’s thoughts astray.

Females in the Federation were extremely rare, and most of the remaining ones were frail and sickly. They often had a listless air about them, their eyes dull and lifeless—nothing like the robust males.

A female like Bai Su—with her rosy complexion, sparkling eyes, and an overwhelming aura of vibrant, juicy ripeness that could effortlessly stir a man’s secret desires—was something they had almost never seen.

Seeing that they were silent, Bai Su asked again, "Are you here to eat?"

The Bear Beastman snapped out of his daze, a hint of embarrassment on his face as the tips of his ears turned beet red.

But then he remembered why he was here. He quickly straightened his face, putting on a menacing expression. "You... you’re the owner of this shop that sells cooked food, right? We heard the food here is poisonous, and we’re here to inspect it!"

"Poisonous?" Bai Su blinked, a look of confusion on her face. "How could that be? All my ingredients are fresh. It’s impossible for them to be poisonous. If you don’t believe me, you can come in and check for yourselves."

She blinked her large eyes, which were filled with confusion and the panic of being misunderstood. The way she eagerly stepped aside to let them inspect was so open and sincere that they couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt.

A male Beastman next to him couldn’t help but lean in and whisper to the Bear Beastman, "Could we have been mistaken? This young female doesn’t look like the type to do something like that..."

"Yeah, Brother Xiong. What if we got it wrong?"

"We stormed in here all aggressive-like. Look, we’ve terrified the poor girl."

They had rushed over after hearing from Yan Xiaoliu last night that the food was poisonous. They hadn’t let any news slip beforehand, so there was no way this young female could have prepared in advance.

A food inspector stepped forward and said, "Poisonous or not, we’ll know once we’ve checked. Where’s the kitchen?"

Bai Su pointed to the kitchen entrance beside her. "This way. Please, go take a look." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

The two food inspectors led the way inside, and the male Beastmen followed close behind.

Even in the crowd, some couldn’t control their eyes, stealing incessant glances at Bai Su.

Although she was still plump, her skin was exceptionally fair, tender, and smooth. In the summer heat, she wore a sleeveless, knee-length dress with a light blue, ruffled apron tied at her waist. Her full chest and voluptuous figure made her look like a ripe, juicy peach.

The light-colored rabbit ears hanging down on either side of her head were adorable, making people want to reach out and give them a squeeze.

Such an alluring female, even if her peach-like scent was extremely faint, presented an intense visual shock to the male Beastmen who rarely interacted with females.

Someone muttered under their breath, "This young female is really good-looking. She’s so delicate, her face is as smooth as tofu."

"I saw her livestream before and thought she just had the skin-smoothing and whitening filters cranked way up. Holy cow, she’s even more delicate in person!"

"A female this beautiful probably wouldn’t do something like that, right?"

"Can you guys stop thinking with your dicks for one second? Get your love-struck brains out of the gutter! Just because she’s a female, she gets to ruin food and jack up prices? She gets to chase clout on her livestream? She gets to sell poisonous food to customers? Yan Shen was poisoned! Wake up, all of you!"

Bai Xiaolang had excellent hearing. Listening to their muttering from the side, he figured out why they were here.

’I thought that uncle who came to eat yesterday would put in a good word for us, but instead he turned around and slandered us!’

He angrily tugged on Bai Su’s rabbit ears, quietly relaying their whispers to her.

A flash of understanding crossed Bai Su’s eyes. She pretty much knew what was going on now.

’I thought it was a competitor trying to frame me, but it turns out they’re just giving me free publicity.’

’Yan Xiaoliu ate so much of my food yesterday, he probably went home and started detoxing.’

’When I first transmigrated into this fat body, I had a similar reaction after eating my own cooking. Black grime appeared on my skin, and I even had diarrhea.’

She followed them into the kitchen and saw the food safety inspectors using a device that looked like a laser scanner on some of the dishes she had just prepared.

Some of the braised dishes and stews could be prepared in advance and left to simmer on the stove over low heat.

The aroma made everyone’s mouth water, but they forced themselves to look composed as they continued the inspection.

Bai Su said kindly, "You can have a taste, don’t be shy. My food really isn’t poisonous..."

The food inspector calmly pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Well then, I won’t stand on ceremony."

He put down the scanner, eagerly grabbed a clean spoon, and scooped a piece of braised beef brisket into his mouth, only to have his face contort into a mask of pain from the heat.

Seeing his strange expression, the others grew anxious. "It’s really poisonous? Is it a corrosive toxin? Is your tongue burned? Spit it out, quickly!"

The inspector wanted to spit it out, but an explosion of rich flavor filled his mouth, and suddenly he couldn’t bear to.

In fact, the more he chewed, the more incredible it tasted. His eyes widened, his heart raced, and his entire body entered a state of extreme excitement.

The people around him saw this and instinctively assumed he had been poisoned.

The Bear Beastman looked at her with disappointment. "And you still say there’s nothing wrong with your food? Even the food safety inspector was poisoned on the spot!"

"Holy shit, it’s really poisonous!"

"See? Fresh ingredients have a short shelf life. They have to be professionally processed into canned goods or nutrient solutions. For her to be messing around with fresh food like this, it’d be a miracle if the ingredients didn’t spoil!"
