Although Lu Tingyan was considered a write-off by the Empire, he was still a member of the Lu Family and held a military rank.

The investigator quickly and respectfully handed him the file.

Lu Tingyan took the file and glanced at it, his gaze landing lightly on Bai Su.

The evidence seemed ironclad, but his intuition told him there was more to this than met the eye.

Bai Su glanced at the file in his hand. Instead of rushing to refute it, she just stared at the investigator and asked, "May I ask where you got this file?"

The investigator replied, "From Wang Biao, of course."

Bai Su asked, "And how are you so sure that what he gave you is real?"

Bai Xue feigned curiosity, leaning in to glance at the document before exclaiming, "It has your name and fingerprints on it! How could it be fake?"

Her eyes widened as if she was just realizing it. "So, Bai Su, you really were involved in trafficking cubs?! I never thought you were that kind of person!"

"You’ve disappointed me so much! You’ve completely disgraced the Bai family!"

"No wonder Mom and Dad kicked you out of the family back then!"

"Being related by blood to someone like you is my shame, a stain on my name!"

"I love the Little Beastmen more than anything, and you dare to hurt them like this? I absolutely will not allow someone like you to exist in the Federation!"

"If someone like you can be pardoned and become a citizen of the Federation again, then I will relentlessly appeal until you are completely and utterly deported!"

Bai Su watched her calmly. "Who are you putting on this act for? I disappointed you?"

"If you really considered me family, the first thing you would have done is ask me if any of this was true, not rush to condemn me!"

"If you really liked beastman cubs, your first reaction after hearing about this would have been to ask about their condition, not stand here pontificating about what a kind and loving female you are."

Bai Su scoffed, looking at her mockingly. "Do you know what you look like right now?"

"Like a hypocritical green tea bitch who’s finally found a chance to show off, desperately trampling all over me to make yourself look noble and kind!"

"You!" Bai Xue was furious.

Her chest heaved violently, and she stammered for a long time, unable to get a single word out. Hidden deep in her eyes was the guilt of being exposed.

Lu Tingyan’s expression was cold as he stared at the file, his thoughts unreadable.

Afraid he wouldn’t believe her, Bai Xue quickly squeezed out a few pitiful tears. "Major General Lu, you know me. In the Capital City, I’m always participating in charity events, volunteering to teach, and providing psychological counseling for deaf, mute, and disabled Little Beastmen. I..."

Lu Tingyan took two steps back, his expression unchanged. "Sorry, we’re not familiar. I had no idea."

Hearing this, Bai Xue’s face stiffened. "You..."

Having been publicly humiliated like this, she almost lost her temper.

But then, as if remembering something, she took a deep breath and looked at Lu Tingyan. "Alright, now isn’t the time to focus on me. Shouldn’t we be thinking about how to deal with the culprit suspected of trafficking Little Beastmen?"

Bai Su retorted, "If you’re illiterate, you should read more. The investigation is still ongoing, and nothing’s been concluded yet. That’s not how you use the word ’culprit.’"

Bai Xue wanted to argue back.

But Bai Su cut her off. "Just shut up. Do you want the whole world to know you’re the Bai family’s cultural wasteland?"

Bai Xue gritted her teeth in anger. She realized this bitch had really changed.

She used to be so introverted and insecure you couldn’t get a peep out of her even if you kicked her, but now she was sharp-tongued and annoying every time she opened her mouth.

The thought brought Bai Xue some comfort.

The investigator said, "You claim you didn’t sign this document. Let me ask you, have you or have you not gambled at Wang Biao’s underground casino?"

Bai Su pressed her lips together and nodded. "Yes."

The investigator asked again, "And did you borrow money from him?"

Bai Su answered, "Yes..."

She could feel Lu Tingyan’s gaze on her face, sharp as a knife.

’It’s time to put on a performance. Only if Lu Tingyan believes me can I get through this crisis!’

A pained expression appeared on Bai Su’s face. "I was demoralized back then, lost in the pain of my past."

Bai Xue couldn’t stand it anymore. Afraid Bai Su’s silver tongue would turn the tables, she quickly said, "Maybe you were drunk and signed it without realizing? Wang Biao also said you signed it yourself. With a witness and physical evidence, are you still going to try and argue?"

Bai Su stared at her. "How do you know the fingerprints and handwriting are mine? With interstellar technology being so advanced, it would be easy for someone to hire a black market forger to create a fake..."

In a flash of inspiration, she slapped her forehead. "I’ve got it!"

Bai Su excitedly grabbed Lu Tingyan’s clothes. "I know what’s going on! Come with me!"

She dragged Lu Tingyan and ran outside, the sheer force of her bull-like strength sending the nearby Bai Xue flying.

The police officers the investigator had brought with him looked at each other in dismay.

They wanted to stop her, but she was dragging Major General Lu by the hand.

They were just officers from this remote area; what right did they have to stop him?

Lu Tingyan’s brows were tightly furrowed, his eyes fixed on the hand that was grabbing him.

She had lost a lot of weight. Her skin was fair and tender, and the palm of her hand felt soft as it wrapped around his wrist, delicate and smooth.

He even felt an urge to turn her palm over to see if it was as plump and squishy as a cat’s paw pad.

Her grip on his wrist was tight, so tight he could clearly feel the soft flesh of her palm pressing against him.

It was like touching a small balloon filled with warm water—soft and heated.

And yet, this female had such a fierce and untamed personality.

Because of the force she was using, her knuckles had turned white, while her fingertips glowed a bewitching, fleshy pink, looking exceptionally translucent.

He had to admit, this female’s skin was the most alluring he had ever seen.

Her milky-white skin had a healthy pink undertone. It was so delicate and fine that one could easily see the faint, blue-violet veins beneath it.

’On a battlefield, skin like that... he could slice it open with one stroke, easier than cutting tofu.’

Bai Su suddenly turned her head and stared at him.

Lu Tingyan’s eyelids trembled slightly, his lashes lowering. "What is it?"

Bai Su rubbed the back of her head and turned away again. "Oh, nothing. I just suddenly got the chills."

An unconscious smile lifted the corners of Lu Tingyan’s lips. "Where are you taking me?"

Bai Su declared, "To crack a big case!"
